  1. Yup. They can call it a player safety issue if they like.

  3. I had to look up WTF a "Kygo" is. So, a Norwegian DJ and Garth Brooks... I mean, I don't care one way or the other, I'm there for the race every year so for me the concerts are a freebie. Some have been great, some have sucked, but they're all free to me so I don't worry about it. Still... a Norwegian DJ??
  4. Yeah no kidding. I've been wearing boots and pearl snaps for 40 years myself. I guess I'm flattered that the young tech bros want to look as cool as I do.
  5. I can't even imagine the chaos in your mind at that time. The more I've seen of pictures like overhead shots of the damage, and your video, the less I can believe you and your family got away as well as you did. I'm truly sorry about your property losses, that's going to suck to deal with, for a good long while. But wow, I know you just have to feel luckier every day, that things didn't turn out worse. It's already been said on this thread, but surly is here for you if you need anything.
  6. Hickory and pecan are closely related and I like both of them for pork and fowl. For beef nothing beats oak. I will direct grill over mesquite but the only way I'll BBQ with it, is if it's been burned down to coals beforehand. The absolute best BBQ I've ever had, was on a scout trip to Mexico where we were staying on the grounds of a massive hacienda belonging to a major benefactor to Boy Scouts of Mexico. One afternoon we dug two trenches, burned mesquite down to coals in one, shoveled them over to the other, where we were roasting several whole goat kid on spits. That was the most unbelievable cabrito I've ever tasted.
  7. I'm a fan of this idea, make it so.
  8. Apparently he was reassigned last November, leaving his job as technical director and moving into an unspecified role with the team. My guess is, he and John Mackovic are somewhere together, designing golf courses. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/breaking-dan-fallows-aston-martin-34090858
  9. A good friend of mine is apparently a neighbor of TKThunder, his house is about 4 doors down from the one that exploded. He and his family were present when it happened, luckily no injuries. His damage is similar to what TK had-- exterior doors blown in off their doorframes, windows shattered, pictures and pictureframes inside the house destroyed. Right after it happened and my friend made sure his own family was okay, he ran out of the house to see if he could help, and had to put out some small fires in his yard and his neighbors'. Then he got closer and he tried to go into the house next door to the explosion, that was partially collapsed, but he could only get a few feet inside before it was completely blocked off. That's the house where rescue workers eventually pulled a lady out, but the firefighters said it took them over an hour to get to her. Just an unbelievable occurrence, thank goodness there weren't more injuries.
  10. Old Austin died the day the Rebel Drive-In shut down.
  11. I guess I'd believe that except they seemed to suck in the same way last year, too.
  12. Yeah the tire situation was strange, especially on that track where they spent all weekend talking about how open and "deg" the surface was. And I really don't even know what Aston Martin is doing now. They went from being Dr. No to being Dr. Evil in just a couple of seasons. LMAO at RBR's pit light system. Give me MOAR 6 second pit stops from them, please oh please.
  13. Looks like it came from a person on Insta who does "rebranding" for various organizations that did not ask for it and do not want it.
  14. It's never going to rain again.
  15. So the entire story is about how he went to this car salesman in Hutto who clearly had mouths to feed, wasted his entire afternoon, and didn't ever buy a car from him. Then later when this guy began reaching out to him, he routinely left the text conversation on read. And then the dude died.
  16. Yeah, as an Anderson High alum I was also a frequent visitor to their Wally's location on Mesa. Freshmen at Anderson were called "Wally Walkers" as a matter of fact.
  17. That's my "home" DQ. I used to ride through the drive-thru on my bike. They'd yell at me but still serve me. But nothing felt quite as glorious as walking up to that counter with my silver free-sundae token in hand. Extra hot fudge, please.
  18. Next up, go acquire your nubile young Swedish au pair, before tariffs drive her price up as well!
  19. Everything about UT chaps their hides. I once had an aggie ask me, "Why does t.u. get to be called 'Texas?' A&M is in Texas, too. So is Tech, and TCU, and a bunch of other schools." I was dumbfounded. I replied that there are lots of schools in Michigan, but only The University of Michigan, is called Michigan. It's the default designation for the flagship public university in most states. So you know it pisses them off that one of the most iconic representations of the state of Texas-- the Longhorn breed of cattle-- is associated directly with UT, and not their own school.
  20. Tastes better, too!
