  1. McGonigal, 55, still has pending federal charges in Washington for allegedly taking $225,000 in bribes while working for the bureau on sensitive investigations. His attorney recently said there were plea discussions with prosecutors there. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney in Washington declined to comment.” -from the Post article upthread. This $17k for stuff after he left seems to be only a small part of the story
  2. My understanding is that the court clerk says no probable cause affidavit was on file, and it’s probably because one was never filed to obtain the search warrant. If the probable cause affidavit or info about any evidence presented to the magistrate has come out, I’d be interested in reviewing that.
  3. She’s trying to speak her aspirations into existence.
  4. Im not sure you understand this process. A typical jury pool for a single case is probably 50 potential jurors. With 19 defendants We’re talking about at least 171 people stricken as a matter of right, plus I’m sure a large number stricken for cause in addition because of the high profile nature of the case, number of facts publicly known, and high bias of the jury pool. Georgia isn’t going to be able to get 1000 potential jurors in one sitting. If all these defendants are tried together, then jury selection will take forever.
  5. I’m not a criminal procedure expert but I assume it’s because each defendant is entitled to a certain number of peremptory strikes of potential jurors. Meaning that as a matter of right, they can eliminate something like 9 potential jurors. That’s separate from striking a potential juror for cause
  6. The Flaming Hot story is a bunch of bullshit too. Maybe we should have a thread about movies/shows actually true to history. But then I can’t come up with anything other than John Adams.
  7. It’s certainly possible they will stop at 5, but judges control the courtroom. It’s not unusual to stay later than official closing times. Still. My money is on tomorrow or Wednesday for the indictment(s)
  8. Same type of people who support RFK Jr or Kanye running.
  9. I’m not seeing this anywhere. Plus Didn’t other news outlets confirm some witnesses will testify tomorrow? Other than Trump complaining of course. Im guessing Wednesday or Thursday might be more realistic
  10. Where did I say Biden was blameless? Do me a favor, don’t put words in my mouth and don’t take criticism so seriously. I look forward to your next linked article from General Flynn
  11. Look, you can’t post an op ed article with the literal headline that says “Blame Biden” and then complain it’s political to point out GOP led opposition in Congress to more $$$ and weapons for Ukraine. I’m not the one who made this thread political so take your thread police bullshit elsewhere
  12. “Don’t be partisan” says the guy linking a political op ed with no comment. Cool contribution
  13. Oh the GOP Congress is lining up to support increasing weapons to Ukraine, is it? GTFOH
  14. We need to consistently be able to pressure the QB while also not having our CBs line up 7 yards off their receivers. That or score 45 points a game, which may be possible
  15. Well, not the popular vote
  16. It’s simpler. It’s a means of sabotaging government and then turning around and saying “See? Look at the failures of government” Especially when they can blame their favorite boogeyman Lina Hildago. Just utter contempt for the constituents they are charged with governing- and belief they’re too stupid to see what’s happening
  17. Yeah. Killing a 3 year old to own the libs. It’s surreal there are no actual or political consequences. It’s truly astounding GOP voters in Texas don’t care if Texas kills kids in the foster care system, immigrant children on buses, or doing nothing in response to mass shootings at schools. Sure did get some sweet segments on Fox News though
