The linked article from 1973 was an interesting read as well.

From the article:
Howard’s, a top quality black barbecue place outlandishly misplaced in a shiny converted Ozark Fried Chicken building on far-suburban Burnet Road.

I'm gonna guess that far-suburban Burnet Road in 1973 was Allandale/Crestview.

The address is at the bottom of the article.  5119 Burnet.  Googled it, and it's now a Torchy's between Hancock and North Loop.

By the way -- that article is interesting, with from BBQ history and the general tone of how they portrayed certain establishments...

All I got from that article is I’m not going to random local bbq places the day after they are closed. Friday to Sunday I guess from now on. Hard eights in Coppell being the exception since no one is working in all those warehouses and offices over the weekend.

jim posted that he's now doing the cooking for tuesday then taking the day off, so the rest of the crew have their off day on monday and the restaurant is open with fresh Q on tuesday.

Yeah.  I appreciate Jim's mea culpa on the reheat for Tuesdays.  I also appreciate Vaughn going back the next day.

I've always wanted to try Jim's BBQ and hope to some day. The reviews and photos are finominole. I don't understand serving subpar food on one day, that just doesn't make sense.

And congrats Jim, glad you're back in the saddle. Your passion shows through in the food and reviews you receive.
