Warren ain’t going after Pete.  Can’t really see Biden or Bernie doing it either.

Harris, Tulsi, and Klobuchar tho...

Ok. Bring it on. I actually want my candidate to be tested directly. Let's see how he handles it.

Now off to Twitter where I'm sure the freakout will be both entertaining and pathetic.

Good luck? You think the legacy media will ever grill him like they do Warren/Bernie? Not a chance. Pete is exactly the type of candidate they love - white, ivy league, corporate centrist.

600,000+ individual donors, strong fundraising, most offices in Iowa, great ground game, impressive organizational/campaign strategies.

AKA nothing.

Cory Booker, like Will Smith, is a black dude whites are comfortable with.

What's the deal?

Buttigieg does a ton of TV appearances. The TV hosts and most pundits on there like him. There's a reason he's on TV all the time and others aren't. It's because he's REALLY GOOD at it.

I promise you if Bernie, Warren, Biden, Harris, Klobuchar, etc. exposed themselves to that many TV appearances, they'd stumble a lot more than he does.

Now print and online journalists? They are much more critical of Pete.

The far left progressives are going to need some consoling after Pete wins Iowa and NH and Biden wins SC and Nevada, effectively ending Warrens and Bernies campaigns.

I don't really like Nate Silver, but this is his analysis

He literally proposes "Medicare for All Who Want It" in that video from February with Stephanopoulos.

Yes, he does. His rhetoric is what has changed dramatically. It's gone from "M4A is a good idea and we'll get to it on a smooth glide path that will eventually eliminate private insurance" to "Forcing people off their private health insurance is wrong!"

And, as was true in February, it's all a lie.

He sees his path and he's going down it. Smart, aspirational boy.

The moderates are going to need some consoling after Pete wins Iowa and NH and Biden wins SC and Nevada, effectively ending Warrens and Bernies campaigns, and the progressives stay at home for the general election.

You can’t really believe the progressives are staying home.  They may not be happy but they damn sure are not risking trump getting re-elected.

I’d speculate most will vote but they’re not going door knocking for Joe Biden.

It's called campaigning. And explaining to voters the policy differences between candidates.

The issue is Pete abandoned openly campaigning as an advocate for single player and then chose to campaign against it. That’s more than a pivot, it’s a flip.  Yes, we know about his plan. Yes, we know it’s politics but for other advocates of single payer, it’s a betrayal. It means he wasn’t serious about getting to universal healthcare and it hurts his credibility in the eyes of progressives.  It’s exactly what you thought Warren was going to do but she didn’t.

I think this is a bluff/troll.  It doesn’t do the Republicans any favors to remind Americans that Trump has been impeached every day for eight weeks straight.

Yes, Pete is campaigning by using right-wing talking points against single-payer. And it's working very well for him among white people with money. I know that. There are a lot of people who don't want progressive change, but they hate Donald Trump so they're desperately looking for someone who will best serve the interests of private capital and extreme wealth.

Pete is positioning himself to be that guy because he wants to win.

I know this. It's obvious.

And I don't like him for it. You can like him for it, that's fine.

Am I supposed to respect him for being a cynical liar?

You know who’s going to beat Donald Trump? The person who lost to Donald Trump

Dude, anything that doesn't support Medicare for all is a Republican talking point.  Don't cha know that?

Hillary would end Biden by draining a chunk of his black support almost instantly.  She’s not going to run but I do find it entertaining that she keeps trolling the media.

Pete is campaigning against single payer.  That is anti-progressive.  Subsequently his plan is irrelevant because it doesn’t remove the profit motive.

Imagine living in a country and never having to worry about basic health insurance.  Imagine not being forced to have whatever plan your employer decides for you.  No more huge medical bills to fret.  No more “is this in my network?”  Sounds like tyranny to Pete.

Is that what I said?

To be fair to Pete, naked ambition to become president while not actually believing in anything and changing you positions to whatever is most politically expedient is a tried and true method to become President.

Yes, and if he beats Bernie then complete idiots are going to be on here saying, "Heh you leftists thought that consistency and goodness would win. So naive."

Yes, we fucking know. We know.

We just don't want it to happen.

Any plan is relevant unless single payer is a system that will inevitably prevail in any election scenario.

As long as the profit motive is allowed to live in the provision of insurance then every advance made will be rolled back by the monied interests who want to exploit that profit opportunity.

Which is what some of you want to happen, and these conversations would be more productive if those who want that just admitted it.

is profit motive your #1 concern with healthcare reform?

i'm pretty sure it is, as i think it was you who said as much on a different thread.  just double-checking.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/268094/millions-lost-someone-couldn-afford-treatment.aspx?utm_source=twitterbutton&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=sharing

More than 13% of American adults -- or about 34 million people -- report knowing of at least one friend or family member in the past five years who died after not receiving needed medical treatment because they were unable to pay for it, based on a new study by Gallup and West Health.

hell of a system we got here.

Imagine not being forced to have whatever plan your employer decides for you.

Of course the rational solution to this is forcing everyone to have whatever plan the government decides for you.

Pete: "If you like your plan, you can keep it!"

Me, an adult who just awoke, fully-formed, from a pod with no memory or reason: "SOUNDS GREAT!"

Tldr:

Biden 51-43 over Trump
Sanders 48-43
Warren 47-44
Pete 46-43
Harris 45-44

And this is a poll that has Trump at 45/54 in approval but Kemp at 55/35 approval.

Hey look, more obvious polling that Trump is STRUGGLING to get support over his approval rating.  Almost like it's a trend.

Because of premature factors like name recognition playing the most influential role, the value of this polling isn’t that one democrat performs better than another.

It’s that Trump currently gets identical support regardless of the Democratic nominee.  He can’t shake 43-44%.  Not good.

Which we see in polling across many states and nationally.
