I think Tech will be good to very good next year and will probably start the season ranked #1. Texas and OU will be much more battle tested, due to SEC play, and we will see how it all plays out in OKC.

I don’t think Tech will start out as the #1 team…..still lots of unanswered questions and players and time…don’t know who will be the initial #1 team….we were ranked #1 in first poll and #1 final poll….that probably doesn’t happen that often.  Not sure when first poll comes out, but it won’t be Tech…imho.

It will be us or Tech

The other is likely #2

Texas VB was ranked #1, despite all the losses, because they were defending champs.

aggy being the #1 seed going into the playoffs just tells ya what can happen…Horns baseball being #2 seed is another example…too many variables….I’d worry about OU…as usual.

Here's more on that story. Sounds like Tech is trying to buy next year's title. I'm not one to bet on sports, but I might take the early odds on them.

One would hope. All I feel sure of is that Tech is going from feisty underdog to the rich jerk everyone detests...and in record time.

If softball really is drawing in new fans and growing, I hope the constant reviews for leaving early and obstruction, plus tech and ou buying whole teams, plus the ou dynastic era, aren’t turning too many of them back off the sport.

I know everyone does it but it doesn't feel like the Matador Club is doing things the right way. Its obvious they were tampering with players mid-season. Theyre adding a clear target to their back already.

If Tech starts the season #1 let ‘em, and see how far that takes them. Tech is playing the A&M game, throw a ton of money at it and you’ll win championships. Hasn’t worked for A&M yet.

I don't think that's fair to Sark at all. What fat has he cut? The only ones told to leave were dismissed for violating team rules like Cook. As JS said this, "I think the lack of overall portal success outside of the Oregon 4, Joley, Mac, Czech and Dolcini speaks to Mike's belief that the majority of his roster needs to be primarily recruited to Texas and developed by Texas."

Sark has said many times that has been and is his strategy at Texas and he only uses the portal to fill holes. There have been some that have left on their own only because they didn't want to wait their turn. And good riddance to those who think they should start without earning it.

Tech softball has 44% of their roster in the portal. That includes 6 of the 7 Freshmen. Glasco promised them they would be the future of TT softball and now he has recruited over them and said get lost. When has Sark ever even had 10% of his roster in the portal?

There's a vast difference between telling a player, "we don't think you have the talent to be a starter", vs "get lost, we got someone better from the portal".

Sark cuts the fat the same way Gasso or Saban or any other coach cuts the fat. He tells players that he doesn’t see them getting playing time. You think Cook is the only player cut in the Sark era? Texas had a dozen players leave after last season not counting Cook. Most if not all of them would have stayed if they thought they would get playing time.

She has salty stats and is a great competitor. Her versatility could be a plus in Austin the next couple years. Come on down.

Except Tech's coach is actually good....A&M hired a hitting coach to salvage a class. Softball isn't baseball.

Nice little rumor that Karen Weekly is about to speak to the manager about Tech/The Matador Club talking to players mid-season/signing contracts with them during the WCWS

That she also has been calling up other SEC schools and telling them to refuse to play Glasco/Tech.  Assuming the article posted is accurate, I hope Mike also tells them to go fuck themselves for trying to tamper with Reese

Like Mike Leach, she does have a J.D.

He's a good coach but we will see how good when Canady leaves.  It does appear Tech is all in on softball. we will see how he manages egos and locker room now.

Also every coach in the country is going to negative recruit Glasco and Tech.  Why bother committing there, highly rated HS prospect? They'll tamper and pay your replacement without telling you mid-season and push you into the portal as soon as the season ends.

Say what you want about Mike and Patty - they do develop players; Texas maybe at a higher rate than OU, but a lot of that four-peat was OU-recruited-and-developed-talent, especially at the plate.

His "aw shucks, golly gee" act is already tarnished by this.  Especially if other programs (Tennessee, UCLA, Florida, Texas) start speaking up about it.  There's 0.0% chance The Matador Club was identifying talent and doing all this without his input.

Tech is "all in" because it's the cheapest sport to pay for a title.  Football rosters that win titles cost $30m+ and so many schools can match or exceed that.  Basketball is out of control and you have to contend with how easy it is to play a year and then bolt for the league, and like football, you have blue bloods who absolutely will pay for those rosters.  Baseball has to compete with signing bonuses from MLB.

Softball? Pfft, I think the highest AUX salary is like $70k.  $3-5 million could put together a team of 5-6 All-Americans who developed at other programs easily.

Also Mike should truly throw the middle finger at them

Bring in OKST for a weekend series
Schedule one-offs with Baylor and Houston
Go to some tournaments at Arizona again or invite Arizona, ASU, Utah, BYU, ISU to come play in Austin

Tell the Big 12 that Texas will play any and all programs in the Big 12, except Tech, as long as they try to tamper with our roster

IDK I think he's a really good coach. Obviously softball has only 1 great coach and she's up in Norman.

If they keeping pulling err paying talent like they are he’ll stumble into a few of NCs.

Many casual fans seem to think this is all great. They aren't supporters of any of the programs negatively impacted by the sudden spate of tampering, and they gullibly believe it's David suddenly rising up against Goliath. They don't know how devious this whole mess has been. Even OU is on the verge of emerging as a sympathetic figure, which I never thought I'd see. I really hope this whole thing blows up in Tech's face.

Gonna make it fun to beat them. Can’t wait. Fuck both ttech and ou but finally hearing about a team reloading and it not being ou is refreshing. That’s who we need to beat in conference.

Idk, maybe, but the Canadys only come around once a four-year cycle.  And a Canady in this day and age is a rarity - we've talked about how good offenses are, a sub-1.00 ERA pitcher who pitches 200+ innings is a unicorn right now.

The only other "woah" transfer of an ace was Bahl, and she went back to her hometown program.  It's not like Canady ever gave Kansas a look.

Just about every big-time P4 programs will pay their ace to stay.  Pickens, Kavan, Rothrock, etc.  The outlier would be internal problems, like UCLA's pitching staff bolting LA.

ANYWHO

I hope we found out soon who is here this weekend.

And we are a couple days away from the portal closing.  I would imagine we will get a trickle of some names this weekend, perhaps. Likely nobody that will make anyone upset.

I'd consider her a once in a decade type of pitcher. There have been a handful of sub-1.00 ERA seasons, but to do it consistently over a career? She's the only pitcher since at least 2010 with a career sub-1.00 ERA.

Part of the lure of transferring to Tech right now is the chance to playb offense with Canady pitching. By herself, she essentially guarantees you a WCWS berth, maybe even a top 4 finish. Is rich husband going to keep paying a roster when there's not a generational player, guaranteed top 4 finish, like her on the team? Are All Americans going to want to go there once Canady is gone?

If they have that kind of talent with money flowing freely surrounding them, they can recruit new aces …. Maybe not Canady level but good enough to stumble into a few. I mean he recruited Landry to LA.

I hope they don’t but they are certainly trending in the right direction and their donors have the right attitude. Canady and the redhead giving Canady some rest throughout the year are going to be a force to be reckoned with. My hope is Mike can continue to slap them back but their bats are going to be much improved …

If she were in the SEC, her ERA would go up...if only because she'd more often face Texas. Her career ERA vs. the Longhorns is over 1.00.

The Big 12 was real shitty. Tennessee, Texas, OU, Florida getting multiple cracks at her in SEC play would hurt the ERA.

It's so funny watching the Techtards be like "but Texas spends a bajillion dollars themselves on players!"

Yeah, Texas really broke the bank for Kaydee Bennett, Mac Morgan and Joley Mitchell.  I'm 90% sure we got Mac for less than $100,000.  You think we broke the bank for a slapper from ACU? lol

Other than the Oregon 4, Texas hasn't broken the bank and driven the market price up for an All-American softball player. We develop our own All-Americans, thank you very much.

Texas recruited and developed All-American Reese Atwood
Texas recruited and developed All-American Teagan Kavan
Texas recruited and developed All-American Mia Scott
Texas recruited and developed All-American Vivi Martinez

So that whole Tceh Matador Club thing made me lose some respect for Glasco, who I'd come around to thinking was a pretty good dude and coach.

I guess he's not precisely responsible for the Tceh bagmen, but still.  I guess I'm not gonna be too hard on a coach that uses a lot of transfers, particularly at a place like ULL, which isn't exactly anyone's destination school, even a softballer.  Tech is in a bit of the same boat.

The thing is, this can't happen without coordination.  The Matador Club doesn't know who Glasco wants that fits his system, in the circle and defensively/at the plate.  It's like candidates and Super PACs - no coordination allowed, but there's definitely something going on between the two.

I can't criticize Tech for going nuclear on softball in NIL the same way all of the rest of the country has tried to do in football, LSU has done in baseball, some schools have done in basketball.

I get it they are tampering, likely coordinating with coaches, etc.  I sure will look forward to whatever body of enforcement is going to do anything about it.

I guess I just don't believe that other schools aren't doing the exact same thing in other sports.
