And the audio is 3 seconds ahead of the action.  Fox production sucks worse than Alexi Lalas

It's somehow both in time and 3 seconds ahead. Fox is finding unique ways to fuck up a broadcast for us.

Yeah he doesn't have any killer instinct.

I do - however - really like McGlynn. Him setting up Tillman on the goal was ballsy but he pulled it off.

Good stuff. This doesn't tell me much about Tillman although I'll give him credit for running hard and staying in plays.

And holy shit Luna is awesome. Why the fuck wouldn't he get credit for that? Clearly on target.

Not pretending to follow the rules and regulation of the gold cup but outside of sacks full of gold bars why the fuck is Saudi Arabia playing in this tournament?

A non-regional nation is usually always invited. I remember South Korea playing in this tournament one year.

Luna is just fun to watch.  Tillman, McGlynn, Freeman all been excellent.   Agyemang is just not good.

Yep.   Qatar was in the GC the year before they hosted the WC.

He's also a damn good player.

You have to be careful about what you take away from matches like this. I think Ferreira scored like 13 goals against TNT one time.

I will say that McGlynn continues to show quality and that Tillman looks engaged and is playing hard.

As far as Freeman goes it's not like he's been tested at all and the most important part of his position is playing D. I did like the header that he sent at goal.

Was it COVID seating rules?

Or was ICE set up all around the stadium?

Puliaic was right to skip this shit. T&T thought that they were playing rugby. No reason for any play of any level of talent to play in this shit tournament.

I still don’t think he should have skipped it. Glad to see the group rebound though.

Watching this Haiti-Saudi Arabia game and they are terrible. Not sure if Saudi is missing some players due to club World Cup, but it’s tough to understand how they beat Argentina.

Saudi Arabia scored 2 goals on a 0.15xG.

3 total shots and none should have had any prayer of going in. 2 goals on miracle shots.

That said, Scaloni made changes after that loss that helped propel them to the 🏆.

Jesus Christ - he's an idiot.

Ian Carrillo lays into him on that Bluesky thread - basically calls him flat out racist. And he's not wrong.

Lalas is an idiot and it's not a good take, but the criticism of him isn't understanding the distinction between socioeconomic/racial diversity (which is a worthy goal) and stylistic diversity (which, as Lalas points out, national teams don't really have time to deal with). If I squint, I can kind of see what he's getting at. Isn't everyone always saying that the strength of the German program is that from the national team all the way on down to the youth level, the training/philosophy/etc is all rowing in the same direction? Whereas on the other hand, we have key senior-level players that came up entirely in the English or German systems and basically arrived to the USMNT fully formed.

A better counterargument to Lalas than the one given in the article (France national team with lots of ethnic - although maybe not stylistic/experiential - diversity) would be someone like Messi, who left Argentina as a young kid to train in Europe and still integrates well into the Argentina national team. Of course that's Messi.

even if you can squint and kind of see what he’s getting at, it’s still not even relevant or accurate. the issue with this team isn’t that it’s diverse, it’s that the USSF is a corrupt, incompetent entity that’s never had a real desire to build a competitive national team with all of the talent that we have and can acquire. period. we are nowhere close to being a serious soccer nation. from top to bottom, from infrastructure to nepotistic/buddy-buddy coaching hires, to how shambolic the MLS is as a professional league, we don’t take the sport seriously. our players being from different places has nothing to do with it, at all.

alexis is just a fuck face trumptard racist who’s taking yet another opportunity to show his ass and get attention all so that he can stroke his massively overinflated ego when everyone else in the world disagrees with him (in his mind our disagreement is his vindication). he’s white jason whitlock, nothing more.

Pepi needs to stay at PSV this year and play consistent minutes. He missed the World Cup last time partially because he didn't start getting consistent minutes until late in the cycle.

If he’s healthy there is no way he misses this time. He’s established that he’s 1 or 2 on the striker depth chart. And Poch isn’t Greg.

I'd still rather have him in-form and tearing up the Eredivisie than getting spot starts with Fulham or some other PL team. Dude needs to play.

PSV is just as good of a club as Fulham.
