Another missed freethrow. Hopefully it doesn't bite us like in games past

So many mistakes. On really basic stuff. Ime putting in a cold Tari in his first game back. Tari helping off the 3 point line in a 2 point game. Missed FTs. I could go on.

Didn't y'all have issues closing games last season? Thompson and Sengun need to grow up and make plays at some point. Durant is doing everything he can to let them do that.

With Van Vleet you're probably like 21-5 so I don't think it's time to hit the emergency button. I do think this team even without VV can contend and think you should pick up an actual 1.

Also I really fucking like JSJ. Dude is incredibly unaffected.

Jabari was -20 last night, and generally played like shit all week. Hopefully it’s an aberration, but as the Game Theory guys expertly laid out, Jabari’s contract has value if he’s the 4th or 5th best player on the team, but if he’s the 7th best player on the team it’s a bad deal. Players better than Jabari right now:

Alpie

KD

Amen

Reed

Adams

I know he's made a huge leap this year and he's filling up the box score on a nightly basis, but you still can't play Reed Sheppard on defense at crunch time. He's going to get targeted every time down the floor. Dennis Shroeder is 1000 years old, has never been known for being much of a threat off the bounce, and he was blowing right by him in overtime. They didn't even bother burying him with a screen. They just iso'd Reed in the corner and there's no rim protection behind him.  It's going to be 100 times worse in the playoffs when teams can really gameplan to go after him and the physicality gets amped up.

Also, I don't care if it's overtime or not, KD has zero business playing 48 minutes in a NBA game at 37 years of age, much less in a back to back where he played 40 the night before and it's the 3rd game in 4 nights. His last 4 games: 44, 43, 40, and 48 minutes. That's just playing with fire at this point in his career. The regular season is a marathon, not a sprint. Ime is a great coach, but that's malpractice.

- I agree with Mitch that Shepard got exposed defensively last night. I still think he can improve, but right now it's a liability. He needs to continue to get stronger and more physical.

- Jabari has reached his ceiling. He can make big shots, but totally overrated as a defender and he's just a little too stiff athletically. His contract is fine, having him out there is fine, but expectations should be tempered.

- Since Houston is considered a real contender this year and with the addition of Durant, we're gonna get opponents best shot every night. Don't think they've adapted well to that yet. Last year we were able to sneak up on the league a little bit and took advantage of it in the W/L column.

- The individual pieces are there, still looking for best lineups and defining roles to maximize potential. I think Ime will figure it out.

Ime was an emphatic no when asked if Adams would play on the second night of a back to back, so they need to figure something out. They’ve gotten shredded on defense without Adams.

Capela’s contract is fine, but he’s not a back up center in the NBA.
