And Murray is on the injury report now, too. Sounds like he might not play tomorrow.

Seems like Silver/Ballmer's plan to wait long enough until no one cares anymore is working out quite flawlessly.

As long as they don't give up a lottery pick to the Thunder, I'm probably okay with it too.

Durant with some nice words on Jokic.

NEW YORK -- Kevin Durant left what ended up being his final game with the Brooklyn Nets after getting hurt similar to the way Nikola Jokic just was.

In fact, Durant sat out time two seasons in a row because of a knee injury caused when someone fell into his leg.

"One thing I don't want to see with Nikola is like, they started calling me 'injury prone' after that, but hopefully they don't start with him because it's one of those freak injuries that you can't really control," Durant said Thursday night after the Rockets beat the Nets 120-96 in his return to Brooklyn.

"You can do all the work you can, but somebody falls into your knee, that's just tough."

Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP, hyperextended his knee Monday night in Miami when Denver teammate Spencer Jones stepped on the center's left foot while defending a drive by the Heat's Jaime Jaquez Jr. as time was about to expire in the second quarter. Jokic's knee buckled a bit and he collapsed to the court, grabbing at the knee.

The Nuggets said Tuesday he would be reevaluated in four weeks.

Durant sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in January 2022 when teammate Bruce Brown was knocked backward and fell into him. He ended up sitting out 21 games because of that injury.

Then, Durant was hurt on the same court as Jokic when then-Heat star Jimmy Butler fell backward into his right knee in a Jan. 8, 2023, game, causing another sprained ligament. He never played again for the Nets, who traded him to Phoenix a month later. He finally got on the court for the Suns in March after a 20-game absence.

Jokic's injury is a hyperextension, perhaps allowing him to return more quickly.

"So it's good to see it's only four weeks and it's not anything too big," Durant said. "It wasn't an MCL sprain or Level 2, it felt like it was just a tweak and he's going to be back out there soon. He's great for the game and you want to see the best players on the floor at all times."

Yeah, I’m going to guess this correlates with the team on the floor with them, because there is no fucking way Dylan Harper is one of the worst defenders in the league. None.

It's super fun going from a team that rests guys against bad teams because they have enough talent to probably still win to a team that punts and rests guys against teams that they weren't going to beat anyway because they need all hands on deck to beat Utah.

Speaking of guys on elite runs:

Funny, but wildly inaccurate.

Still, the fact that it's believable is pretty telling.

Phoenix went nuclear against OKC to get the crazy win, booker game winner. Some dude named Jordan Goodwin hit 8 3's, which means he'll go 2-6 next game for 7 points

OKC blew about an 18 pt lead

Edited by MNLonghornFUKM

At the end of the day OKC can dick around plenty and not lose the 1 seed. At this point they aren't breaking any records so there's no real historical incentive to win 10, 12, 15 straight games multiple times, and Shai will probably sleepwalk to another MVP. It's all about the playoffs at this point outside of some specific matchups where you probably want to turn up the gas and test yourself (think they have 2 more games against SA).

Nuggets injury report tonight is something.

I didn't really watch the game last night but had it on in the background as we had people over. They look bored, quite frankly, especially when they're ahead. They'll play some defense but don't seem interested in running a play on offense. Four of them will jog up the floor and the ball handler (usually Dort or Jalen) will jack up a wild shot and sometimes hit it. I get that being bored after a title is a thing.

However, like last year, they can still go long stretches on offense where they just go cold and can't score from anywhere. You'd think they'd have worked on that in the offseason but it doesn't seem like it. They had a stretch in Game 6 of the Finals where they didn't score for 12 minutes. (It spanned the back half of the 2nd quarter and first half of the 3rd.) They have some legit offensive players on that team so I can't figure out how they can go the equivalent of an entire quarter without scoring.

Is Braun a high ankle or something? It feels like he’s missed a ton of games.

Not high ankle. He and Gordon both came back last game, but I'm thinking they are being extra careful with them to not re-injure.

Bet on the Sixers with the Nuggets top 7 out of the lineup. It'll be the Bruce Brown and Peyton Watson show tonight. And that's not a show I particularly want to watch.

Yeah. Just have to be careful and not let it get out of hand and bite you in a playoff series.

Repeating is fucking hard. Now probably more than ever.

Imagine buying tickets for that hoping to see Jokic 😂

Jokic dodging Embiid yet again. Pussy.

The big question is whether Embiid will play when they come to Denver. He hasn't since 2019.

Houston and Phoenix are playing without a clock right now. I've never seen this.

Almost feel like they should reschedule the game.

i’m pretty sure okc is 6-6 since starting 24-1.

Not really fair since 3 of those were against the juggernaut Spurs.

denver really just beat philly with Maxey, Edgecomb and those 2 losers Embiid and PG8 with their 8-15 players literally lmfao

can't even be mad about that. Impressive.

sometimes the most undermanned are the biggest try hards. and they start to believe if theyre not taken seriously after a quarter or half. i cry in the fetal position if the opposing teams best player sits out vs the Wolves because I know its gonna be a shit show

Wizards get
Trae
Hardy

Mavs get
Porzingis (probably re-route him)
Risacher
Kispert

Hawks get
McCollum
AD

It works financially.

That Phoenix team is legit. Houston didn't play great but PHO almost caught them tonight after beating OKC last night and then travelling. Think they found a good coach and Brooks has really brought some grit and energy to the team.

I mean I think they're better than this shitass Lakers team.

Also it's ridiculous how year-over-year the West turns into a bloodbath. It's been the better conference since Jordan retired the first time and we're closing on that being 30 years ago.

20260105_234647.jpgSnoop Dog on the Clippers Golden State game was worth the watch. He should return regularly.

Also I love how much of a disaster the Warriors are. Hoping the Lakers record evens out a bit more to match them.

We’ll see on the Warriors. I think it’s mostly going to plan with the exception of Draymond very publicly losing his mind.

Play .500 basketball, limp to the trade deadline, make a big move and go on a run. I don’t see it, but guys like Lowe and Windhurst think Kuminga has trade value because of his contract, and we can fix him/we don’t run Kerr’s offense so he’ll be better here sentiments. That said, I think it’s impossible for them to get a star back. I could see another Butler level player, but not a star.

Ok, but does it work for the Hawks? Why would the Hawks give up on Risaacher?

I'm sure teams are lining up to part with win now talent to pay $25M per for a dude racking up DNP-CD's on a shit ass .500 team.

I would like for the Mavs to get him, but it’s it’s like on because he’s a 3 & D guy who does not D or 3.

That said, I’d like the Mavs to get him as long as he comes with the Pels pick. I would even take Trae in the package.

Phoenix being competitive/ a playoff or play-in team is a stunner. They are plucky AF and Booker is much more comfortable being the man instead of sharing the load with KD. I bagged on their owner for mortgaging their future, but they've made a rather remarkable ascent given their limited assets. Don't get me wrong, I don't think they have the star firepower to make much noise in the playoffs but they are certainly going to be a pain in the ass for everybody they face.

It was a better conference when Jordan played, too, especially after the Detroit Bad Boys aged out. Don't get me wrong, the Jordan Bulls were always the class of the league but MJ almost always had a much easier path to the finals than anybody in the west. Lebron's path was even easier.
