That's because after the Georgia game the committee stopped watching us.

They certainly dropped us like a rock. 10 to 17. That's when it was over.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Also, why are you saying it?

You asked if I thought Texas had a shot after Georgia.

I answered you.  They did when they beat Aggie and would have been better with an OU or Bama loss on the final week. Both games were literally down to the wire no?

So once again. You’re acting like a douchebag.

The score could be 65-7 and Bama isn't getting left out. They already have 10 wins and they're playing in the CCG. They aren't getting punished.

We lost 3 games in the regular season, and regardless of whether or not our SOS is tougher, we still lost 3 regular season games.

3 losses is 3 losses, though. Yes, it would have taken them an extra game to get to 3 losses but their resume would be pretty identical to ours. Both would have lost to Georgia. Both lost to a shitty Florida/Florida St team. And they would have lost to OU, a much worse team to Ohio State and Bama was at home for that. We were on the road. In fact, all our losses were on the road if that counts for anything.

But I get it. A tricky situation on what to do with these CCG now with the playoffs. Do you punish teams for losing it? Georgia was punished a few years ago as an undefeated team entering that game. Committee could have easily kept both them and Bama, and then went with Florida St and Michigan but they didn't. So, it wouldn't be the first team to get punished for losing this game.

I wonder if Texas could have just kept it close, do we get dropped that far? Texas made it a game and had a damn good chance to even come out with a win until the wheels shot off at the end part.

But at some point, Sark and Texas has to figure out how to beat these good teams and not have to worry about the committee.

They’re punishing Texas for 3 losses when not all losses are created equal. So fuck it. Blow it all up.

the CCGs are not needed.  Reward the champ based on the regular season and then go from there.

Maybe we have the play in games as said before.  3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 to get the 4 autobids.

The 10 most-watched college football teams of the 2025 regular season almost read like a list of the SEC football standings.

Because of those 10 most-watched teams, according to Nielsen ratings, an astounding 8 were SEC squads. The most-watched list was revealed on Friday afternoon and proved that, even though the Big Ten has won the past 2 national championships, the SEC is still the apple of many viewers’ eyes.

Topping the list of most-watched teams was Alabama, which boasted an average of 8.49 million viewers. The Crimson Tide went 10-2 this season and will face Georgia on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. Speaking of Georgia, the Bulldogs were 3rd on the list with an average of 7.48 million viewers.

In between the 2 SEC title game combatants was Texas at No. 2 on the list. The Longhorns averaged 7.55 million viewers during the regular season.

Defending national champion Ohio State was the only non-SEC team in the top 10, coming in at No. 4. But the SEC roll call continued right behind Ohio State with Oklahoma at No. 5. The Sooners averaged 6.47 million viewers this season.

There were more SEC teams that joined the top 10 party in big-time ratings this fall, and here is Friday’s complete list:

Satisfied yet. It's Bama and it isn't even close.

I certainly think so. If it was a 7 point loss, it's not that big of a drop. Maybe to 13 or 14. Then we can work our way back up to 10 or 11 by beating aggy. But you can't get around losing by 25. The biggest thing every media head talked about was losing to Florida so maybe even then it's hard to sneak in.

Texas lost by a combined 40 in 3 games.

Getting 25 point dunked on in Athens and the inexcusable loss to dogshit Florida did it.

Well anyone be held accountable?

I love the playoffs but these CCG's lose their luster now.

Ohio St vs Indiana is only for seeding purposes. Losing it just means really nothing. If Bama is in no matter what, then their game becomes only for seeding. If a team isn't punished for losing it, then what is the point of even playing it?

Realistic expectations tells me beating aggy, gooner and arky in the same year and a bowl game vs Michigan is a pretty good year and don't get caught up in being pissed off for 10 wins but getting blown out by OU under scared to death Mack Brown. But there is a small part of my unrealistic longhorn fan DNA that wants the CFP committee to go full TV revenue and somehow get us in.

No, I get it. But a few years ago is was just 4 teams, not 12. It's a lot more difficult to dismiss a 3 loss team that picked up their third loss in what is "supposed" to be a gift, or however you want to look at it. Yes, we both would have three losses, but how can you punish a team that got theirs for making the CCG over a team that picked theirs up against Georgia in game 8-9?

We lost to Florida. That's the one we're getting punished for... Deservedly.

Sure, or it could be Georgia or Ohio State. It could be any team at this point because we picked it up and didn't do our part of the deal. Honestly, we're being "punished" because we lost to Georgia to get our third. If we lost to UF and beat UGA, we would be in, no matter what. It's not the UF loss, it's the UGA loss, regardless of where they were ranked. We got tagged and rag dolled, and that's our punishment.

Bro. Context.

We lost to a shitty team that fired their coach the next week. He should have been fired the week we pushed their shit in...

Instead, we made their defense look like Butkus winners.

The UGA game was a shot at redemption.

Nope.

Bama backed into the CCG on a tiebreaker. The fuck they earned it.

How did they not? They win the tie breaker, right?

I promise you if we just beat UGA we would be in with two losses. UF/UGA it doesn't matter, we got beat. We didn't do our part. I'm sure they're looking at that UF loss and thinking that's probably the deal sealer for us making a legitimate case, but the third loss killed any hope. The UF loss for sure did us in for making any kind of plea.

Nobody getting in on a tiebreaker other than a head to head tiebreaker is more deserving than another team.

See my response above. That UF loss is what sealed any hope of making a legit case to be in, but it's not the sole reason we aren't in. But yeah, we can't say "well, we beat three top 13 teams," and then reasonably say " disregard that UF loss." No, that's not how it works. That UF drubbing absolutely sealed our fate for any reason to make it with a third loss. If we lost to UF and they were ranked in the top 15, we can point and say "we lost to a top 15, top 5, and the #1 teams, how can you punish us after we also beat the #7, 9, and 12 teams?"

This. As much as we want to truly believe it’s only about W/L record, we lost a game badly that we shouldn’t have. That was the killer. If one of our three losses was to a top 5 team instead, we would have a stronger argument. Then again, we’d have one fewer win against a top ranked opponent that we currently have.

I have hope for y'all...

What if Bama QB gets hurt and they get blown out?

(I never want to see that)

That would certainly be some cosmic shit after they backed in because of a QB injury

I think the CFP playoffs prove that most deserving and what the rules are, are two different things.

A G5 and now if Duke wins another conference champion ranked higher will get in because those are the rules that were established before the season started.

Everybody agreed to play by these rules whether they think they are fair or not.

Here is where it would get interesting. Look at FSU losing their QB. If Simpson tore his ACL, then they have start thinking "OK, well we know nothing about the Bama back-up, and if they just lost their QB for the year, we need to go next man up, which would be Texas due to finishing the regular season strong."

See, this is my issue. Why should a G5 qualify? They have absolutely zero chance of winning it all. None. Zilch. Why should they be guaranteed a spot over teams that play in real conferences? The G5 shit needs to go. If they want in, they need to schedule a high P4/5 team and beat them. Not an NC St team, but fuck it, let's jst say Auburn.

If Bama wins a tiebreaker over Ole Miss, and gets the honor of playing in the CCG, and gets embarrassed, it should damn well fucking count against them.

the problem is they aren't going to get embarrassed.  They just have to limit TO's and it will be at most a 10 point loss and maybe even a win.  Georgia's O isn't that great.  the D is pretty damn good.

Correct. They will prove the are a top 12 team

I think they would have just moved two loss teams up. Vanderbilt. Miami. Notre Dame. I think we were done after that Georgia loss.

We'll never know.
