i agreed with you 1000% before nil

So getting paid more money means you should spend less time trying to be a great player? That doesn't make much sense to me. Getting paid seems to me to mean you should take it more seriously and professionally not less.

Lame shit is still lame shit no matter how sophisticated the tech that enables it. You can do cool and creative stuff with AI. There is just a lot of really bad low effort AI slip out there.

I'm not sure if this is the thread for this but there really isn't one so here goes: how the fuck has Michael Taaffe never won the Burlsworth Trophy (for outstanding former walk-on player). It's named after a player who went from walk-on to All American, something Taaffe LITERALLY DID. And yet, the 2024 winner was Bryce Boettcher from Oregon and the 2025 winner was the Mestemaker kid from UNT. They're both solid players, don't get me wrong, but more deserving of the "best walk-on award" than Taaffe?

Because the award is given out by a bunch of Texas-hating Arkansas hillbillies.

I see that now. Wow. This is the kind of snub that should get them delegitimized - or whatever the word you'd use for it is - as a major CFB award. This is just a really, REALLY awful decision on their part and it's based on a "rivalry" where their shitty school has lost more than 71% of the games. The folks in charge of the Burlsworth "award" should be fucking ashamed

No, they can F off with 95% of AI usage.  Now back to our regularly scheduled Longhorn thread.

Central Texas data centers consume millions of gallons of water daily, according to an Austin Chronicle investigation published last week. Midsized data centers use approximately 300,000 gallons daily while large data centers can use as many as 4.5 million gallons per day, the Chronicle reports. Austin alone has 47 data centers while Dallas-Fort Worth has the most in the state at 189 facilities.

A report by the Houston Advanced Research Center estimates data centers statewide will use 49 billion gallons of water this year. The facilities use the water to cool their powerful computers, which generate significant heat.

Further exacerbating the strain on natural resources, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman broke ground last year on Abilene’s Stargate Texas data center, a $500 billion project announced by President Donald Trump in January.

With a size 60 acres larger than Central Park, Stargate is soon to be the largest data center in the world, whether the parched landscape — or its electrical grid — can handle it or not. The facility is expected to use enough energy to power 750,000 homes, the Chronicle reports, while also being a massive drain on the water supply.
