  1. Past hour
  2. i couldn't bring myself to pick the Cardinals so I went with the Rams instead. nice to see I would have lost either way.
  3. You should listen to the podcast because Ta-Nahesi makes this same point. I think you're underestimating the fervor of some pro-life voters that more of less consider themselves single-issue voters. Anyway, Klein's point wasn't about abortion, per se, it was about running heterodox candidates in places in which a true blue Democrat isn't electable. No, I'm not listening to three hours of anyone except Dan Carlin. I wasn't trying to put him forward as a good messenger for us, just that he gets mentioned around these parts with the same wistful longing as "once the Tex-Mex population gets high enough the GOP is doomed 4eva!!!!" Obviously both are fantasies. Anyway, sounds like it was one of those "I'm just asking questions" interviews that serve as a good reminder that most celebrities are shallow and vapid. I haven't heard about this! Tell us more....
  4. Texas is physicially dominated on both lines of scrimmage by a 1-3 Florida team in the swamp and turns to the Cotton Bowl for one last chance to make this season mean anything. Coach Sark will address the media at 11:30.
  5. That experience could actually be a pretty entertaining movie.

Damn. Ok. Not sure I could think of another job where one’s performance would be nitpicked more than that. Maybe if Van Halen hired a replacement. But cool though.

    Rush

I haven't seen Rush since the "Moving Pictures" tour. I might seek this out. This is exciting.
  8. It’s a little hard to tell what he’s saying there because I don’t think he actually believes that. I think he’s using that idea as a device to demonstrate the decline of diversity within the Democratic Party as it wrote off so much of its traditional base. It’s part of a pair- he’ll talk about how there were 40 pro-life or adjacent democrats when ACA was passed, and then he talks about pro-life Dems being something worth trying in red states. But it sounds like he’s saying it’s something Democrats should tolerate, as opposed to something they should seek out with intention. I hope he’s trying to make a good point about what a big tent party looks like, but he struggles to do it because he’s such a dork.
  9. Greg doesn't seem to recognize that there will be no place for the disabled in Stephen Miller's 4th Reich.

    2025 ACL

I went all three days. Highlight for me was Friday Panda Bear>MJ Lenderman>Cage the Elephant>Dr Dog. Cage and Dr Dog absolutely crushed it. Modest Mouse and Strokes were fun on Saturday. Wet Leg and the Killers were great. The Killers opened with Whiskey River and also covered Always On My Mind. Both covers were excellent. Passion Pit would have been fun but their crowd was waaaayyy too big for the Titos tent.
  11. Yeah, I'm liking his style so far.
  12. There was an overwhelming power/strength advantage on the UF side across the board. Not a size advantage, they were just stronger and more physical than our guys. A little bit faster overall too but it wasn’t as glaring. That’s a huge and maybe our biggest problem. Play calling wasn’t it, we routinely had receivers running wide open. But that’s irrelevant when your o-line is getting their faces shoved in the couch.

This should be cool. She has a much deeper groove than Peart, it will change their sound quite a bit. I hope the fans keep an open mind, she seems stellar.

    2025 ACL

When the lineup came out earlier this year, we decided to sit this year out. Then the Killers replaced Doja and I received an immediate text from the wife. Got tickets to Sunday W1 for her to see the Killers. I didn't know any of the other acts - but learning new bands is one of the things I like about music festivals. Listened to the acts on Spotify off and on for a few weeks and narrowed it down. This is how it ended up: Got to Zilker around 1:00 and my wife was immediately turned around because of a non-conforming backpack. I took the chairs and set up in the shade under the tree across from the beer tent. From there we listened Lamont Landers, Chezile, Anderson East, The Dare, and most of Rainbow Kitten Surprise. I wandered around a bit and caught some of Geto Gala and Flowerovlove. Packed up and headed to the Beatbox stage and set up under the tree for Wild Rivers. When Wild Rivers was done, we headed over to the AmEx stage to prepare for the Killers. T-Pain was up and it was crowded. Parked the chairs at the back, listened to T-Pain, and waited for it to clear out at the end of his set. Moved up closer for the Killers show and listened to MK Gee in the interim. The Killers opened with a decent rendition of Whiskey River and then played a bunch of songs that my wife knew and a few that I recognized. It was the least attended final act that I have witnessed with most of the yutes opting for John Summit. Enjoyed everyone except MK Gee, but that was just background. All-in-all a decent day.
  15. Wonder the same. What is the legality of a state authority arresting a federal actor there? Feels like following a knowingly illegal order is the same as acting without any legitimate authority, i.e., subject to ordinary criminal laws. so the feds can be arrested for (on the serious end of the spectrum) some kidnapping-like charges if they actually do ICE-like tasks down to things like trespass.
  16. She’s rocking an Arch Manning student ID shirt 🤣🤣🤣

I told my daughter I want to see her band tour with Wet Leg and Little Simz. Predictable response: "holy shit Dad, you know who Little Simz is?" Yeah, I'm not a total neanderthal.
  18. I felt like Flood could pick em and coach em. Now I wonder if Flood can pick em or coach em. Bummer.

    Rush

Yes. I've been watching her vids for a while. Toured with Jeff Beck as well.
  20. Arch had an ugly game and is struggling with fairly simple 1st reads. When I watch the film (obv dont have access to the all 22) its clear to me he's not ready to run the offense at a high level. He's just missing too much. However, he really is running for his life. Im now convinced part of the reason he's having the yips and is in his head is because he knows his o line is a complete disaster. Thats a tough realization when you know that means you're capable of getting sacked every single play, because his "first read" becomes pocket awareness and not where to go with the ball. He showed some real moxie and playmaking ability against Florida. The raw tools are there. I think his development has been stunted by this horrendous o line, and I think he was significantly overhyped and over ranked. He was a high four star that played against bad competition and was going to need time. But the film speaks for itself: 1- He has no time 2- Hes struggling big time with 1st read coverages #2 doesnt get fixed until #1 does. He's not super human. In the mean time Sark has to use everything at his disposal to relieve the pressure for him, and hes not doing that schematically. He better start or we are going to lose more than we win.
  21. Also, please tell my wife she can't leave me and has to do what I say

    Rush

Yes, a younger German drummer. She was born a year after Signals came out.
  23. The parallels between the 2008-2010 seasons and the 2023-2025 seasons are creepy. Seriously, think about each of those and how they match up.
  24. To them, that is freedom.
