  7. Yes. It’s a different world.
  8. He’s dead? Well never mind. We will check out YouTube instead. Thanks for the tip about blocking out the brain damaging stuff.
  9. i'm starting to have a bad feeling about this season
  10. so in the live ball era Ted Lyons lost 20 games in 1931 with a 2.05 ERA for the White Sox.
  11. Fred rogers died over 20 years ago. All the programming is available on YouTube. You have to invest a few minutes to block the shorts from popping up. That shit is brain damaging.
  12. I'm sort of philosophically libertarian to an extent, but I recognize that libertarianism doesn't have very many practical applications in today's world unless we can somehow unwind untold government intervention. And even if we did manage to do that, there is still a need for government. IMO, much of what we see on the "conservative" or "liberal" side of politics involves the denial of certain human rights in order to shape society into whatever whichever group thinks it should look like instead of actually protecting all of human rights. That said, my kids have watched plenty of PBS kids shows. I have watched the occasional shows intended for adults. I'm not sure I'm seeing any bias. I mean, there is undoubtedly some sort of bias in any given show because the creators have biases, but I can't really recall anything that blatant.
  13. Was sitting with a buddy and I called it. This kid is special.\ Also he owes me a tshirt of my choice from Yawkey way.
  14. Buy stock in dildos.
  15. It is a very good book. Worth the read. Just ordered a new copy since I am doing some independent studies into the French in Indo China and Algeria. There is a part in The Centurions and reiterated in Trinquer's thesis on the French in Algeria. A capture terrorist is being bombarded about how could he place bombs in market places. His response was we do not have airplanes.
  16. I’ve had matcha served the way it is served in the ancient tea ceremony. Very formal, and also elitist. Nevertheless, its roots are grounded in natural beauty. The tea tastes of chlorophyll, I am told. For whatever reason, it made me think of the ocean. Maybe I thought of seaweed, because it isn’t salty or fishy. It’s not unpleasant, but it must be an acquired taste.
  17. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
  18. Media 55 years ago was a bit different. I understand that many of us Gen X wish it were different today. If it were only that simple.
  19. I don’t understand why the Texans haven’t made developing and protecting CJ the number one priority. Upgrading the oline isn’t just about allocation of resources and balancing the strengths of the team, it’s about allowing cj to reach his full potential.
  20. I'm a firm believer that the Americas were much more populated and advanced than previously thought. I think there is enough evidence to put the Clovis first hypothesis to rest, although I haven't seen any convincing evidence that any pre-clovis civilizations were particularly widespread. But looking at those images, I can't help but think there is a strong possibility that those scientists are reading more into the data than it says. I'm not saying I don't think it's a possibility, but prehistoric anthropologists seem to be pretty clanish and not welcoming of any hypothesis that contradicts their beliefs. More so than most branches of science, for whatever reason. Maybe it has something to do with funding and some kind of intense rivalry on who can come up with the best solution to the questions. It would be pretty cool to see those hypothesis validated, and I'm rooting for them, but I'm skeptical. Of course I'm saying all this without having actually spent some time looking into the data, so I can't entirely discount them either.
