Gun Control

"How about kids instead of looking to someone else to solve their problem, do something about maybe taking CPR classes or trying to deal with situations that when there is a violent shooter that you can actually respond to that," Santorum said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Santorum's comments came a day after protesters assembled at March for Our Lives events in Washington and across the country to demand gun control legislation in the wake of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Santorum dismissed the usefulness of "phony gun laws" and appeared to call on students and others to improve their communities and to prepare to respond to further shootings instead of calling for new laws.

There are seven Senate races which are toss-ups, and probably the only ones truly in play.  These are:

Arizona

Florida

Indiana

Missouri

Nevada

North Dakota

West Virginia

I would like to see the Dems make gun control a big issue in each race.

The gun control issue is good for Dems to run up the score in Nancy Pelosi's district.  It isn't good for the Dems in North Dakota and West Virginia.  None of the seven states are good places to advocate gun control.  And Florida, Arizona and Nevada have had high profile shootings.

I was at the march in DC, it was incredible.  Took a few pics but too lazy to figure that out just yet.

Was that thing where the kids who'll see how many Tide pods they can eat suddenly became experts on the Founders' intentions in crafting the Second Amendment?

The right loves to bash the shit out of the pro-gun-control kids. I haven't seen anyone go after the anti-gun-control kids, however. But if there's a kid who is out of line, it ain't one the gun control ones.

Jamie Guttenberg (14), was killed in the shooting. Her brother, Jesse, managed to escape.

Kyle Kashuv, a Parkland student, was mentioned over on the Shag. He has spent the last couple of weeks going after classmates, by name, online and on television.

Also, the cop at the Maryland shooting didn't actually stop the shooter. The shooter killed himself.

And apparently witnesses said the kid immediately put the gun to his own head before encountering the resource officer.  So the "good guy with a gun" narrative peddled by the NRA and Fox News after this school shooting is bullshit.

Hilarious that Kasky would cite this as a reason for not wanting to debate considering his side is using the name(s) of other children without the consent of their families.

Honoring a person is the same as attacking them?

Deplorables.

The greatest thing I've seen is (Not A Crisis Actor) David Hogg whining about losing his First Amendment rights by having to have a -- brace yourselves -- clear backpack at school.

Quote

“It's unnecessary, it's embarrassing for a lot of the students and it makes them feel isolated and separated from the rest of American school culture, where they're having essentially their First Amendment rights infringed upon because they can't freely wear whatever backpack they want regardless of what it is.”

He's OK with millions of law-abiding citizens losing their Constitutionally protected right to carry a weapon in self-defense, and can use lots of potty words to criticize politicians -- but for him to have to have to carry his government textbook in a piece of see-through luggage is where, gosh darn it, someone has to draw the line.

Just wait till he finds out George Soros won't fund his march for backpack choice, though. Then maybe he'll realize he's just a pawn being played on the grown-up's chess set.
