  1. 105.3 The Bat is no more. Now owned by Norsan Media, who also owns 95.1 La Raza in Austin. Seems to be playing music similar to 93.3 Latino.
  2. Still 3k to 4k over MSRP in Austin. Can be cheaper in San Antonio.
  3. Having shopped around recently, it all depends on the vehicle popularity. If you want a Ford Maverick, it'll be 5k to 10k over MSRP. If you want something that's not selling, MSRP or slightly below.
  4. This ain't good: Parts of South America are sweltering under abnormally hot temperatures – despite being in the depths of winter – as the combination of human-caused climate change and the arrival of El Niño feed into extreme winter heat. Southern Cone countries including Chile and Argentina have experienced summer-like conditions as a heat wave, beginning in July, pushed temperatures higher than 38 degrees Celsius (100 Fahrenheit) in some places – dramatically above average for this time of year. https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/04/americas/south-america-winter-heatwave-climate-intl/index.html
  5. In non-sports talk radio news, the KGSR/ACL station has finally died and reborn as... LATINO 93.3 What they play: https://www.latino933.com/listen-live/
  6. Generational feelings toward china: 60 to 100 years old - has china, uses it for Thanksgiving and Christmas 30 to 60 years old - has china in a cabinet, talks about using it but doesn't use it 0 to 30 years old - does't want it
  7. I definitely won't do it. Cause I can go on the Internet and get informed and then......fuck.
  8. Going to the doctor and then not doing anything they say. Parent always said "I'm not going to be like my parents. When I get old, I'm going to listen to the doctor and follow their advice". They go to the doctor and then ignore the advice, decide they don't need the medication, the rehab is optional, etc. When I bring up the "I'm not going to be like my parents", the response is "it's different!!!"
  9. unlimited PTO and you can choose five people to kill each year with no consequences.
  10. Watched Bird Box Barcelona. Starts with a good premise and then wastes it by having the characters make horrible decisions every five minutes to advance the plot. If there is an apocolypse, be sure to: - never carry a weapon, so you can't defend yourself from the bad guys - if you are hiding from bad guys in a city with no electricity, be sure to light candles by an exterior window. The bad guys probably won't see it. - if the evil thing makes lots of noise when approaching and kills you when you look at it, don't try to leave or walk away when you hear it approaching. Stay still so it can walk up to you. - Everyone in your group should sleep next to each other, so it's easier to get killed together. Why make the bad guys work harder by spreading out? - if your goal is to get to a castle on the top of a hill, definitely plan to get there by cable car. Cause a cable car will definitely work after no one has used it for 9 months and there's no electricity. That's a much better plan than driving there or walking to the top of the hill.
  11. Something I realized a while after the movie - the movie was really well made and directed. There were a lot of characters (20?) in the movie but it was always clear who they were, what "side" they were on and what their objective was. Too many action movies introduce characters and never develop them so that the audience cares about their objective.
  12. Stayed in Fajardo for a few days back in 2017. The beaches are nice. The beach in town (Seven Seas, etc) had lots of locals, food stands, restrooms. A decent hike will get you to Playa Escondida and/or Playa Colora, which are much emptier and beautiful. Lots of good restaurants in Fajardo, but there's lot of good restaurants all over PR, so that's not unusual. There's a bioluminescent bay in Fajardo. We didn't do it but talked to some folks who did and they said it was okay to good. We did the bioluminescent bay in Vieques and it was great. I'd say that Fajardo is good for 1-2 days tops. I'd recommend more time in Vieques (or another place in PR) for a more memorable experience.
  13. The mobile chargers that come with most EVs don't seem to be built for frequent plugging and unplugging. A decent amount of Tesla/Ford/etc EV owners have issues after a few years of constant use of the mobile chargers. If you go with a wall charger, as @gsoda3 says, don't pay to much for the install. Some electricians hear "EV wall charger" install and start salivating.
  14. This guy says the first guy is full of shit:
  15. Right now it's on the lighter side. The only things clogging up the beach are cars. It's been crowded on the beach.
  16. https://www.kxan.com/news/texas/texas-parks-and-wildlife-to-use-eminent-domain-for-fairfield-lake-state-park-site/ "The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is petitioning to condemn Fairfield Lake State Park and Fairfield Lake to keep the state park open to the public. TPWD will use eminent domain to condemn the about 5,000-acre property. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted to authorize TPWD to condemn the land at a Saturday special meeting." "The first condemnation steps include giving a formal written offer followed by a final written offer on or after 30 days. The final offer has to be equal to or greater than the land’s appraised value. The landowner has 14 days to consider the best and final offer"
  17. Does anyone notice that Rebecca Ferguson sometimes goes into a Swedish/English type accent? I don't understand how anyone would still have a county based accent after hundreds of years underground. Seems more likely you'd have have an upper, mid or deep accent.
  18. Now it's getting interesting: https://www.kxan.com/news/texas/texas-might-use-eminent-domain-to-prevent-developer-taking-over-state-park/
  19. Wow....that was an awesome movie. Best movie I've seen this year.
  20. Reviews are out and they are really good. Currently at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Excitement growing.
  21. I saw the same news but interpreted it differently. To me, it seems like everyone in the state government (TPWD, legistature, etc.) wants to buy it. But they have to convince the property owner to cancel an existing contract and sell to them instead. Obviously the property owner could be "convinced" to sell or else things won't go well for them (legislatively) in the future. To me, it seems like my friends have authorized me to ask Angelina Jolie out on a date. Getting her to say yes is a whole nother challenge.
  22. Any sources for this? I've only seen that the Lege is telling TPWD to buy it.
  23. "Grim Weaper" "Tiny Tears" it was brutal
