  1. Texas was one of the 3 o r 4 best teams in the tournament. Nothing wrong with that, at all. Helluva year. UConn was the best team in the tournament on both ends. Above and beyond everyone else. It peaked at the right time. Offensive continuity was there for most of the season and the defense is what separated it at the end. Good for the Hurley family. That's one helluva an accomplishment for UConn - 5 trips to the final, 5 wins.
  2. Doesn't matter the sport. If you're older than 25 and wearing a jersey, or any sort, you deserve to be beaten. I hope we can all agree on that.
  3. There's two sports that matter at Texas. Football and basketball (mens). That's it. Beard was our answer, the most important hire in either sport in a long, long time. He was it. We all remember that first presser. But everything went to hell on Dec 12 when a giant fucking needle was inserted into our unbridled balloon of hope and optimism. If it didn't happen then, it was going to happen eventually. Unhinged, out-of-control women beaters are going to rear their heads, eventually. And maybe this was just the first time someone elected to dial those three #s. Who knows. What happened sucks to this day. But it's a still just a game. And what Beard did was above and beyond that. Move on.
  4. Yep, would make sense on the NBA front. Nothing wrong with some R&R doing the TV thing waiting on a plush job. Again, he's still so young relatively speaking.
  5. I like Barkley but he should stick to the NBA, golf or both. His first call of the tournament was A&M big over Penn State.
  6. Wright is just doing this desk thing for another year or so. Still young, looks invigorated and so damn insightful. Like Klatt, I look for guys in this type position to educate on another level about the game. Wright doesn't disappoint. He's going to do more good things as a coach.
  7. It's pretty simple. One team has scorers. The other doesn't.
  8. There's 350 D-1 teams and multiple pro teams that would love a bore like him. Multiple pro teams. He'll be there in 2 or 3 years.
  9. UConn gets justifiable credit for its offensive efficiency. It's the defense that has turned it into a national champion tonight. So sound. 5 for 5.
  10. If they finish this off they'll have won every time they appeared in the title game. Wow.
  11. Varsity v JV Somehow went 2-6 in January. Obviously tuned up their game.
  12. I love this night. Seeds, teams, whatever. Doesn't matter. Culmination of the greatest event in sport. Anywhere.
  13. I would never count SDSU out. Veteran, resilient, tough as nails. But UConn has been equally good defensively, at least of late. And it's better on the other end than SDSU, quite a bit. I'm not sure SDSU will be able to contain Sanogo. 8 times out of 10, UConn wins. But the beauty of the tournament is that every game is a game 7. And maybe tonight is SDSU's night. Wouldn't be the first time. We'll see.
  14. Indeed. Different angle of Butler's shot. Great view despite the inclusion of Bohls.
  15. Nantz's last college basketball call tonight. He's done the last 32 FF / championships and has very good at it. Lots of color guys (Packer, Kerr, Kellogg, Raftery, others) have worked with him over the years but Nantz has been the constant. He'll continue to do the NFL and the Masters, the latter until he’s on his death bed probably. But tonight will be the last CBB game. Ian Eagle gets Nantz's chair next year in Phoenix. Solid pxp guy and CBS is in good hands with him. CBS tribute to Nantz from Saturday:
  16. I sat with one of our assistant coaches this morning at a youth soccer game. An important assistant coach, one I've referenced in other threads. His assessment of last Sunday? We tensed up in the last 6 minutes of the game, didn't execute, missed Disu a ton in the rotation and just had to give credit to a team that went into the paint and made shots. Big shots. When down 10 or so, Miami converted. He said its ability to get inside the lane to score, get to the line, or both, won the game. Not once did he mention officials. Nor should he have. I know that's a tough thing to do on this board, but live with it.
  17. Attacking an undersized team in the paint isn't being bailed out. Miami did that, and did it successfully against us. It had no prayer tonight given UConn's size. We just need more size. As much as some of you need some objectivity.
  18. Great chance to buy a $15 ticket and get courtside. It's still a national championship game.
