  1. Hell, I guess if you want to believe... who am I to shatter your fantasies... Bottom line for the is Quinn is a very good QB. I also think it's silly to think Maalik Murphy isn't remotely close with two games as a starter under his belt coming in at midseason without a year of prep as the starter. I think it's very hard to completely dismiss Murphy as many, many have done off two starting performances where the kid actually was brilliant for a half and sucky for a half. Basically I think we have a pretty damn good QB room. With the amazing surrounding cast the Texas QB has on this current roster, the fact our starting QB is not shredding the opposition brutally with a degree of consistency is consternating. I also think that because Quinn is not completely healthy it has changed the play calling as well to some degree. Hope Quinn is finally fully healthy and can put together a game this week that blows me away, and blows away the pollsters! Our ability to dominate and then let the opposition back into the game is a very, very, very bad habit (especially when trying to get into the playoffs). QB play seems to be a key function of this frustrating inconsistency.
  2. My opinion, though basically worthless is this. 1) Quinn came back a little too soon. He's not all the way healthy and his under throws have been both scary and ground gaining on interference calls. 2) IMHO he came back early because he wants to go pro, and playing dinged up is better than not playing, for a number of reasons. Now maybe it a burning desire to play? Or he thought he was healthier than he was? He played hurt when he should have come out to begin with so thre is certainly an argument for that. Maybe he's just an uber competitor and can't stand not being on the field, again played injured, so argument for that. But in my mind he refocused this season because he thought the could make the leap next year. And sitting on the bench, is not going to get him to that goal. But a win, is a win, is a win. But fuck, can't we ever just put up points and put the hammer down on offense? On a positive note, the uncertainty of our games is helping keep the Jack Daniels Distillery chugging along!
  3. Texas 43 ISU 19 471 yards Defense scores once and almost scores a second time
  4. Hoping to give this a bounce and get the thoughts of others with more experience. So this may be insane, and if so tell me the reasons! (I did come up with this idea last night after a few adult beverages) Long story short is we have a big trip planned at the beginning of Summer, and that's gonna cut into the wife's vacay to the point I am thinking of doing a travel trailer tour on my own, with possibly my daughter working my way up to Yellowstone over a week. Then having the wife fly into Bozeman or Jackson hole. So she can enjoy the park for a week, not burning dwindling vacation driving with me in the travel trailer. Thinking of that second to last weekend in August to actually be in Yellowstone area. I am totally flexible, beyond needing a space for the trailer. I about to reserve a spot at Fishing Bridge RV park, which actually has full hookups, for like $100 a night during the time I am thinking, just as a safety to have make sure I have a slot if this pans out. The ability to drop the trailer and have a home base with all our amenities is appealing. The long haul for me? Not as much, but I could so some stuff up and back that the wife would not be as interested in. So thoughts here would be good as well. So how should I do this? Should I just drop the trailer and use the Fishing Bridge RV park as a week long home base? Or am I better off perhaps staying there a day or two and stay near (but outside the park) to be nearer to other parts of the park? We mainly just want to hike and take in nature. Will likely do most stuff on our own as we will be up and rolling like fisherman to be where we need to be to be at the front end of the crowds. Going right as school starts is part of this thought process. I have a National park pass so I can go in and out from outside the park as easy as staying in the park depending on what we are doing on any given day. So what are your thoughts? Assuming I am crazy enough to make that drive solo. I am totally flexible and wondering what I have to do inside the park, and spots of interest on the way there and back to make my travel not monotonous.
  5. IMHO Campbell would have bee the best hire they could have gotten. A legacy that was moving from the NFL to his old team. That wold be a big enough splash to get kids to at least listen to the guy. The fact he left at 7-2 would have been a coup! I think he might have won and recruited well using a I know what it takes to play in the NFL, I was head coach there last year. I took this job to win by developing players just like you." could have been a strong recruiting pitch. Enough to dispel the bleakness of each year living in College Station? We will never know. So onto head coach options 4,5 and 6 by the end of the weekend. I just honestly cannot wait to see how the contract is structured. A good case study in, "Can an Aggie Learn?"
  6. I'll be honest. Everyone is a badass who has size/muscular advantage. So the same guy making a swaggering challenge, will sit back in their seat when they don't feel they have advantage. Sort of like insisting on a little step behind a podium, because in that instance you did not have bravado, you were pleading for accommodation, because you were shorter than your opponent. And then that "bravado" Markwayne sells would seem silly next to the considerably taller man, in his debate. But when you party is the party of white trash clicks... Markwayne is a hero! And in case you didn't know this, Markwayne is even tougher on the internet! True story!
  7. I guess the white trash aspect that has always been a part of the GOP is percolating to the top...
  8. I am glad we have Quinn, but I also remember Heisman rumbles early in the season. He looks great at times, and as has been mentioned many times, has learned to throw the ball away. The sort of things players learn after a year and a half as a starter. But if I am being honest, flashes of brilliance are not why you take an early pick on a QB in the NFL. Look at Quinn's TCU games the last two years. Would you draft him off of those specific performances? Last year obviously a big No, this year? A great half, followed by a 3 point 49 yard field goal? I would also worry about Quinn's size and durability if I am an NFL manager. The one thing I was sort of surprised about is that unlike so many of our QB's Quinn has not gotten bigger and packed on the muscle that will help his durability. He reminds me a lot of Shane Buechele except a little smaller (and playing behind a decent OL). So there is certainly a path for Quinn to the NFL. I will give Quinn a little breather room coming off and injury, for his performance against TCU. But the bottom line is, putting up 3 points in a half as an elite top flight QB, is not exactly confidence building, especially from and NFL perspective. Now if Quinn comes out and lights the world on fire the next two weeks and kicks ass in the bowl (praying for Playoff here) game, then he can raise his stock. But right now I look at him as a very talented not too durable. It also might also be useful to remember that Quinn was expected to push CJ Stroud out as the starter at Ohio State. All that being said I think somebody in the NFL will draft him this year. I am still uncertain that he truly bleeds burnt orange, which is the main reason a player would return. I think he has matured and realized what a great opportunity he has here at Texas. But is that a respect for the program and a desire to better his future? Or has he fallen in love with the place? I hope it's the latter as much as the former, but I don't think anyone knows the real answer here. I just want us to have a QB that can lead us not only in the first half, but in the second half as well to step on the neck of the opponent. Quinn has an opportunity to show us this killer instinct this weekend.
  9. Well if you were in Collie Station the closest thing to a cliff is an overpass...
  10. Bags aren't everything, kids want to win. Just like A&M doesn't have the jack to lure away Sark. If you have lived in Austin Why the fuck would you want to move to college station? I would be really surprised to see A&M pull anyone off us. Simply because I don't think they can get a big splash player to bite, and it's too embarrassing otherwise. BUT!!!! Imagine how much cash the Ags would have if they don't average paying for an entire second staff they fired most every year. THAT might present a problem, but wasted money is... will wasted. And the Ags can't help themselves. They always get their hopes up, and convince themselves this is it! Cost doesn't matter! We finally have a chance! The good news for me is that Aggie hopes and dreams will once again be baselessly sky high next season. I sort of got depressed after seeing Aggie hopes and dreams dashed so early this year. It's a lot more fun to have them actually think things are going good, then like clockwork October crushes those dreams. I am very curious to see what kind of contract they write this go round. But who are they really going to get that's gonna make a huge splash?
  11. Well that's a hell of a return. Wonder what the rental ROI model is on Airstreams that are rented? More than $500 a year I venture.
  12. Texas cheers, to accompany Aggie tears! Awesome! I was wondering if he was 100% solid with Florida. Great fucking news. Welcome aboard. Plus WTF were you thinking Wardell? Gainesville vs Austin? Glad you saw the light!
  13. Funny, Ewers Looked nearly exactly like Maalik in the second half, but without the harsh criticism. Against a considerably lesser opponent than K-State. Thankfully Mitchell made a ridiculous catch on a poorly thrown ball. Even more importantly thankfully the defender does not turn his head to be in superior position on the under thrown ball. It was good to get the guy with a year and a half as the starter back in the fold. But some of the histrionics regarding Maalik, that could be equally applied to Ewers in this game are an interesting contrast. I will say the same thing I did last week, we did enough to win. But the reason we got fucked in the second half was our offense couldn't muster much offense. So we just left the defense out there after a couple plays on offense. Thankfully we got a 10 play drive that resulted in an 49 yard Field goal, and our Defense made a heroic goal line stand that gave us the ball back. That FG was our only score in the second half. I'm glad as hell Ewers is back in the fold, because the kid has the most experience of any QB we have. I also think that Maalik could have done just about at well in his 3rd game as a starter. So I guess the good news is as far as outcomes, our QB's are very similar. And at least now we have a second stringer who has actually taken some snaps as a starter. Something we haven't had in a long time. I realize Ewers is coming back off an injury, and hopefully he can get back to his Alabama form, but that was not this weekend. Still notch a win and move on.
  14. 1) the twist at the end was not a football play. It was a move designed to injure a player disguised as a "football move'" 2) The very worst case scenario is Brooks needs surgery, and will come back to the team to rehab. Sucks for him financially, but there still may be an NFL light at the end of the tunnel for a hard working kid. The most interesting thing about Brooks is that he was the second stringer to start this season. But he took full advantage of the opportunity when Baxter got dinged up, and proved he deserved to carry the rock. That is what a few good years of recruiting, and player development will do for you. Next man up, now does not mean horrific drop off! God's speed in your recovery JB.
  15. I suggest Taylor Swift have her "F*#$ Trump, Keep Freedom" 2024 Summer Tour ready to go!
  16. Why does it surprise anyone anymore that people with stupid audiences, say a lot of stupid shit? While I know many of my Republican friends are not actually unintelligent, they have purposefully fooled themselves into believing that lies are true. Once you can be convinced that lies are true due to your desire to NOT know the truth, you can be convinced of anything. Taylor Swift should get heavily involved, and she should get young people heavily involved in elections. The biggest problem in our country is voter turnout in our country has been so skewed towards older (mostly white) people, that the political reality is there is not enough influence from younger voters. It is also true that the GOP wants to suppress urban votes, to give rural votes more weight. Young people if they voted could literally change this country. But... they don't. So I can understand why men in the GOP feel they are smarter than women, wiser than women, and rarely if ever elect women. Because they think women in general are simplistic and stupid, receptacles for sperm(bad girls) and factories for babies(good girls) to a large degree. The more people vote the more diluted the racist rural vote becomes. And Swifties fall into that category of more voters. More voter turnout is what the GOP does not want.
  17. Uh... Where do you think they come out? Once they come out, no worries about them at all.
  18. Hell I will go to wherever and do the whole job, for only $27 a square foot! See... saved 10% right there! 🙄
  19. I guarantee this system will allow for Cabeza size reduction to fit your oven! 😉
  20. Why can't you simply line item, scratch the flooring? $6K for 215 square feet? That's bullshit! First off there are a ton of tile folks out there, but seems like more than half the products come from Daltile. As has been said Tile Guy is a good and knowledgable resource. I will also throw out Hard Wood Bargains for non-tile. They seem to have a grade or two of quality above for the same price. Floor and Decor is good too from my experience. I am simply taking the bid for the main room and looking at the sq foot cost, then I am asking why is it so much fucking more? Change order rip offs are often where most of the profit on a job is made, because... they rip off the homeowner. I am negotiating with the contractor, and getting the price down. Or I am pulling all the flooring from him. Flooring then floor trim are the last parts of the job. Get a written explanation as to why the price is so radically different for that 215 sq. feet. There are probably some sort of laws about gouging on change orders, but the only way you have leverage is just to pull the flooring and trim work. Normally on tile/hardwoods the contractor is only getting a 10% break (maybe 15%) on materials, so he is screwing you on labor. Hopefully you have a very detailed quote you can work off of. Tile and hardwoods are all about "the first row" where they start. Good floor laying guys will do a LOT of measuring, before snapping that first line to get started. Most rooms/homes do not have square walls. Math is crucial especially if you have tile at entry points into the home. In general you do not want smaller cut tiles at these entry points. Usually on tiling there is a primary wall and the longest run that make the starting point obvious. The other thing you need to make sure they do is level the floor. They may not need to float the whole thing, but I guarantee you there are some low spots that need a little filling. Anyhow sorry for your problems, but I am negotiating first. And the only real leverage you have is pulling that work from the contractor. (assuming you can do this with your contract?) Your concerns about lots not matching is legit! In fact it's best to make sure if you have a large area that you work out of multiple boxes at once unless ALL of the tile is from the same lot. Usually the warehouse guy is just loading up whatever is on the pallet. $6000 for 215 square feet? Who the fuck charges almost $30 a square foot? That's gouging plain and simple. You can also just start nit picking the shit out of him. Refusing to sign off on things going forward until every little fucking thing is fixed, look hard and you will find shit to annoy the contractor with. I am still trying to process $30 a square foot...?
  21. The Ag exemption in Texas is probably the single most abused tax break, because is helps rich folks not have to pay property taxes on their rural largesse. Of course the city folks have to pay extra school taxes to have them sent to the same areas the millionaires don't pay their fair share. You honestly can't blame millionaires for buying a couple pregnant cows to save $80,000 in taxes. It's a great deal! If you make more than 10% of your income off agriculture I have no problem with any Ag exemption. But when you are making a long term real estate play and simply avoiding paying property taxes for 20 years? That's bullshit. But hey, it's Texas, and kids are only important when inside the vaginal cavity!
  22. Texas 41 TCU 17 261 Rushing yards
  23. Wow some deep thought there... Where do I say wait until he's down 14 to pull him? I am more about protecting Quinn and assuming we will not fumble, and have a blocked kick deep in our own territory. i do expect numerous no calls from the Refs on holding and interference against us. If you think it was Maalik that nearly lost the game, you have to think he is playing every fucking position Which is not the case. But if Quinn gets hurt, and re-injuries are nearly always worse, then we have fucked ourselves but good. I guess I can't only look at the bad, without seeing some of the good. I also remember Ewers last year, as a point of reference. I also remember McCoy going down, and having our reciveres not able to handle accurate but too hot passes against 'Bama. But don't let that stop the simplistic analysis! 😉
  24. If Quinn is day to day, it would be stupid to play him this weekend, IMHO. Simply as while Maalik has been inconsistent as hell, he's also had flashes of brilliance. If you NEED Ewers because the game is going ot shit then OK, but if not let him rest and get all the way back rather than potentially risk re-injury and having only one backup once again. If Ewers is really ready to go, I still start Maalik and introduce some QB runs/scrambles into the mix. Having a known quantity in Quinn behind him ready to go might allow Maalik to get more experience and reduce greatly his unforced errors. I mainly just want to have two healthy QB's with some experience. As crazy as that fucking sounds!
  25. Oh yeah! And I forgot the bonus of breaking off the bit in impact driver! It was a clusterfuck with huge ant mounds my first two setups. Best thing I did have was an old furniture blanket that allowed me a degree of comfort in the dirt, or protect me from molten asphalt. I did wire a cigarette lighter/ USB charger into the back bed of my truck, a month or so ago. It has an on/off switch, a battery voltage monitor, and two usb ports. Basically lets me run my bait buckets endlessly with the ability to recharge the aerators. It was a bit of a pain making everything bulletproof, but worth the extra effort to shield and seal all the wiring. It might be worth doing the same connection on the trailer, as now I have to use a double USB plug in charger to keep bait alive overnight if I rustle up some mullet. Guess I will explore underneath and see how to best attach and protect a new DC connection. Wonder if by some miracle I might have an extra fuse slot? That would be nice(but unlikely).
