  1. The second Bob Newhart show had the all-time best ending.
  2. Kandiss Taylor, a GOP Chair in Georgia, is a literal flat earther who believes that globes are a conspiracy. In an interview with David Weiss (AKA “Flat Earth Dave”) and Matt Long on her “Jesus, Guns, and Babies” podcast, Taylor and her guests discussed biblical “evidence” that the Earth is actually flat as a pancake. “The people that defend the globe don’t know anything about the globe,” said Weiss. “If they knew a tenth of what Matt and I know about the globe they would be Flat Earthers.” “All the globes, everywhere” Taylor said later in the discussion. “I turn on the TV, there’s globes in the background … Everywhere there’s globes. You see them all the time, it’s constant. My children will be like ‘Mama, globe, globe, globe, globe’ — they’re everywhere." “That’s what they do, to brainwash,” she added. “For me if it’s not a conspiracy. If it is real, why are you pushing so hard everywhere I go? Every store, you buy a globe, there’s globes everywhere. Every movie, every TV show, news media — why? More and more I’m like, it doesn’t make sense.” https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/kandiss-taylor-globes-anti-flat-earth-brainwashing-1234741082/
  3. Holy shit ... we really are in a simulation. The Bablyon Bee using Twitter to fire people for not being polite to politicians is perhaps the funniest thing they've ever done.
  4. I don't know, but the one third from the left bears a striking resemblance to @Hornius Emeritus
  5. Tommy Tuberville thinks that the 3 branches of the US government are the House, the Senate and the Executive branches and also thinks that WWII was fought to free Europe from socialism (not fascism), so when he claims that some part of the American education system is inferior perhaps we should take him as evidence that he knows of what he speaks.
  6. And to think we could have had Joe Jaworski!
  7. Yup. Kagan's dissent is awesome.
  8. Those same polls also show that a majority of Texans favor stricter access to guns, legalizing marijuana, and express strong support for abortion rights. In fact, six out of 10 texans say that abortion should be "available in all or most cases," and 11 percent say that they favor a total ban on it.
  9. "Every allegation is easily disproved, and I look forward to continuing my fight for conservative Texas values," Paxton wrote. Why is the Attorney general fighting for "values?" Shouldn't the attorney general be prosecuting criminals per state law, without regard to their politics? And what does it even mean to fight for values, other than fighting to impose your values on me?
  10. So our waiting-to-be-tried-on-felonies GOP Attorney General is calling on our alcoholic GOP speaker to resign for being intoxicated on the floor of the statehouse?
  11. Ballsy. Harlan Crow's letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee argues that Congress has no right to investigate the supreme court.
  12. Russian Governor of Belgorod, which is in Russia, says that two anti-Putin RUSSIAN militias have conducted raids in the region. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/23/ukraine-war-live-updates-latest-news-on-russia-and-the-war-in-ukraine.html
