  1. FIFY. Imagine one of Eddie Reese's swimmers pulling any of the crap AB pulled. Goodbye! [edited for clarity]
  2. They overlapped for Brown's first 2 years. 2010-2011 In 2010, Pittsburgh had Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, Emmanuel Sanders, and Antwan Randle El ahead of him. Brown had 16 receptions for 169 yards. 5-90 in postseason. They lost to GB in the super bowl. In 2011, Brown had 69 receptions for 1109 yards and 2 TDs and was named team MVP. 2nd leading receiver with largely the same WR room. Jericho Cotchery replaced Randle El. Arians had to have known him in Pittsburgh. I do not know when his erratic behavior became more apparent, though it's pretty clear Tomlin managed him fairly well.
  3. Adam works at ESPN. I sometimes watch ESPN. Adam is a lying cockbag. ESPN will protect the NFL shield.
  4. In general, AB's past behavior makes it difficult for him to be a credible or sympathetic character. You cannot be an asshat in 99% of your life and expect for folks to immediately align with you on the 1% where you are being totally honest and sincere. And Arians knows this. Let's assume AB is telling the truth here. His histrionics forced this whole episode to be played out in public. And likely made him persona non grata for every other team in the NFL (not really if he can still play). It's not in his nature, but if he had let this play out by seeking the counsel and assistance of his attorney and of the NFLPA, the Bucs might end up with serious sanctions, etc. and may have mitigated additional damage to his career.
  5. Definitely not something new for Arians. Another tweet:
  6. The only sentence he actually wrote: "Business gonna be BOOMIN!" He asserts that Arians gave him the throat slash gesture. If true, it's on video somewhere. If FOX does not have it, there are 50k+ cameras in that stadium and SOMEONE has it recorded. That would definitely help his credibility.
  7. Sorry - Utah thrashed Texas 19-5. And I am not sure it was that close.
  8. ISU and WVU lost. Your highlighting is wrong.
  9. He did. Producer whispered in his ear and he corrected it. Who really believes Klein drove to Lincoln to recruit Martinez? Sheesh.
  10. Oldest played HS lacrosse and we went through a handful of the recruiting roundups when he was a senior. One was managed/hosted by Gerry Byrne, who was a Notre Dame assistant at the time. During the recruiting info session, he said exactly that. In fact, a very good portion of the UND team that year was paying near full freight to go to Notre Dame and be a D1 athlete. Only 1 guy was on full scholarship - and he got it for being a football player. He did not directly say it, but the implication was that you are better off spending money on SAT prep than lacrosse prep if your primary objective is scholarships. I've mentioned before, but same son played MCLA (fairly competitive club) lacrosse at UT. You had to pay to play (need to pay the coaches, travel, etc.) and the team was chock full of players from all over the state, California, and the occasional D1 transfer. Most years, they were quite competitive, as were OU, Texas State, and Aggy. One year, they played BYU and Utah. Utah was 1 year away from being D1 and thrashed them. That team was the epitome of lacrosse - undersized, athletic, skilled, rich white guys. Back to @Codaxx point.... My son was one of the larger players (not as big as Burke, though) and he could really take advantage of weaker competition with his size. He'd camp out on the crease and an attack or middie would wait for a double-team and pass it off. Many a goal were scored using that tactic. You get the shit knocked out of you a lot, though, with that tactic. And against more skilled competition, you'd revert to a decent offense.
  11. In Austin, Henna Chevrolet will pay $500 over Carmax offers. Aggy is taking the same approach: we want you and will pay you $X or Y% over the highest offer. They let everyone else do the hard work of assessing market value - then outbid.
  12. Yeah - screw Brian Davis. Unwilling to give his own opinion on Marion - a clear positive addition, but will give an opinion if it is negative on Texas. All he had to do on this is remove the word "considered" and he creates a positive spin - and it is from his perspective. Lest we believe this is a headline writer's fault, here is the 2nd paragraph: It's an overall shitty sentence that is capped w/ zero ownership of anything. "considered" and "what he calls" are ways of deflecting ownership. I'm no professional writer, but this reads a bit better: More succinct. Active voice.
  13. Just received an email that Disney and YTTV have settled. The suffering is over - for now.
  14. If ESPN were not a subsidiary of Disney, I could have seen them going to a sub-only option years ago. For many customers, ESPN is the only reason they have cable. A streaming subscription only option would definitely change the dynamics - if such a thing were to ever exist. Most of the cable providers are the "rails" for broadband delivery. The prices/costs of broadband delivery are somewhat balanced by the revenue going into cable. The back-room conversations between Disney and Google are not necessarily as important as the backroom discussions between Disney and the large broadband and cable providers. Streaming ESPN to me over YTTV is provided by Spectrum - and I am only paying for broadband. I suspect these guys are pressing Disney to put the screws to the major streaming providers. Guys who "own the rails" here are the ones with the real power - for now.
  15. It might take about 50 years for that plan to take effect. Anyone over 10 years old knows to type disney.com or espn.com to figure this out. I might try the free 30 days HULU sub.
  16. Thanks. Mis understood your statement....
  17. What is his major, then? Seriously curious.
  18. I should have added, "Yeah @Fondren & Main was correct."
  19. 2002 was Mack's best class. 26 players. https://247sports.com/college/texas/Season/2002-Football/Commits/ Young, Wright, Blalock, Harris, Pittman, S. Young, Dibbles, Ross, Thomas, Studdard, Sendlein, Robison By my count, 12 of them were "hits" in that they had significant/notable playing time. What is exceptional is that 10 of them played in the NFL. Perhaps interesting to only me: Brian Pickryl, 5* DE ended up graduating with a BS in biomedical engineering.
  20. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Urbs by either Griffin or Lawrence. Without saying he's a bipolar asshole, they are saying he's a bipolar asshole. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32884789/jacksonville-jaguars-qb-trevor-lawrence-says-coaching-change-gives-locker-room-focus After 11 months of missteps, mistakes, embarrassing moments, anonymous reports of strife within the coaching staff and between head coach Urban Meyer and players, the Jacksonville Jaguars just want a little peace and quiet for the rest of the year. That's why quarterback Trevor Lawrence and cornerback Shaq Griffin are happy that the team named offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell as the interim head coach after firing Meyer early Thursday morning. Bevell is the perfect antidote to the chaos that has gripped the franchise almost since the moment Meyer was hired in January. "He's very even keel," Lawrence said of Bevell, who also served as the Detroit Lions' interim head coach for the final five games of the 2020 season. "Always the same person never gets too high or too low. That's something that I respect and that I can level with. "So I'd say that's the biggest thing that we need right now. Someone that's consistent and just to move forward and push past it."
  21. In the same post, he says Tom Herman is certifiable and certified. SlidellCajun might need to review his position.
  22. I agree w/ you about his skills vs. the competition. Texas, A&M and others in that division would consistently get former D1 guys to join the team. That said, the lax coaches would likely allow him to play, but I cannot see why he would risk injury. There are a lot of freaking meatheads that play on some of those teams.
  23. My oldest played lax for Texas's club team (there is no NCAA team at Texas) and has done some youth coaching in the Austin area. He helped with Westlake on occasion and told me about Burke when he was in 8th or 9th grade. Ethan Burke is a legitimate lacrosse player for Westlake. His father is the varsity coach there, fwiw. As a freshman in 2019, he played on their top varsity team and was an all-state player with 32 goals and 12 assists. https://www.facebook.com/WestlakeLacrosse/photos/congratulations-to-ethan-burke-all-state-selection-at-midfield-/2313725372055397/ After his sophomore year 2020, he committed to Maryland lacrosse, a legit program. He has since decommitted. https://lacrossebucket.com/2020/09/15/maryland-adds-lone-star-state-attackman-in-2022-class/ He was all-state in 2021, too. There is almost zero chance he is a 2-sport player at Texas If I recall, there are 11 scholarships for lacrosse, typically shared among the 40-50 players on the roster. Football is definitely a more lucrative path.
