Not if it means visiting Temple.

And shouldn't a G400 be an SG?

Yes, my bad, brain fart. It's a Les Paul Standard.

My brain was thinking G400 because there is an Epi Sg right next to it and I had to talk myself out of buying it for $130ish. A ittle dinged up, though, it would be for a project and i already have enough project guitars stashed away, and already have Epi and Gibson faded SGs.

It's the same place that also has two 339 P90 Pros, but their price now is basically the brand new price.

The standard 60’s I bought right after Deej got his was a Sweetwater demo.  Had been returned for a scratch I could not see without magnification.  I’ve already put more significant wear on it during the 3 months or so that I’ve owned it.

So I got an essentially brand new guitar at a used price point and couldn’t be happier.  Your rep should be offering you less than what is listed on their website for the demo, at least that’s how it worked out for me.  I can PM you the percentage discount vs new price if you want to see how good a deal they are offering you.

Edit:  for reference.  They were very up front about it being a return, why and included pics of the blemishes.

That's some really nice maple, there. I really like that perfect imperfection in between the pickups, really gives it a classy and distinct look.

I think maple necks can feel "sticky" because of the finish applied to the fretboard, whereas rosewood is usually unfinished.

That's the big thing for me. I hate the sticky feel of glossy maple fretboards on my fingers, but rosewood always feels nice. The back of the neck never really bothers me, painted or whatever.

I'll be the contrarian, I prefer maple necks on Fenders, basses and guitars. Aside from preferring the brightness, my eyes sometimes have difficulty with Fender's white side markers on rosewood in poorly lit situations, while the black dot on natural is hard to miss in any situation.

My Gibsons and Gretsches are rosewood and ebony, but mostly with the markers on white binding. The V and Explorer are the only exceptions I think.

Well, I'm a hack, and don't use the markers, because I mostly play on the first half dozen frets.

wayne at Sweetwater knows I want a gold top so he sent me this demo. Has some scratches on back that I can’t even see. Thoughts?

Also regarding the Sweetwater demo, you might want to verify with your pusherman, but the 30 day return policy still applies.

I'm convinced I won the Charvel and Hughes & Kettner amp from Sweetwater solely based on the money I'd spent with them. Nothing random about it.

It’s a bit like being a casino or strip club VIP, isn’t it?

Strip club VIP costs more.

I'd still argue it would look better with mother of toilet seat over pure white.

Well done.

Stupid deal of the hour has been on today at musiciansfriend, but I don't see anything too intriguing there.

So I found this listing

Fender Stratosonic Dove 1 w/ Brown Sunburst Finish Pre-Owned 2003 https://applink.reverb.com/item/29321973-fender-stratosonic-dove-1-w-brown-sunburst-finish-pre-owned-2003

Question is - how important is the neck pickup on a p90 guitar? I use it all the time on my Tele and strat, but not so much on the Les Paul.

Wondering if I should hold out for a Dove II.

I use my neck pup pretty often.  But it depends on what you're doing with it.

If you have a good luthier, you may be able to make it into a II for not much.  The changes wouldn't be too complicated.  Rout, wire, pick guard, you're done.

Always hard to tell from just some dude in his living room.  Who knows what he's plugging into or what that's set to.

Nice.

Is that couch in the MCM thread?

I don't believe I did post it on there.

Tele also applies.

So I was playing with Warmoth today.  You can do one of these on your own for about $1300.00, all in.

Yea I know. I kind of want the actual Fender though, just because it is such a bastard child.

Looks like reverb has sold 5 this year so far. So we’ll see. The two pickup ones seem to go for about a grand.

That seems like a pretty good deal.

Player is MIM?

Yes. These are "limited edition" because they stopped making Lake Placid blue one of their regular colors and replaced it with something very similar, plus one or two other minor details.

Players Series replaced the MIM Standard a year or two ago.

Nice!

I'm kind of eyeing some of the blem Les Paul Juniors online right now.  But I may need to wait a bit since I just bought an amp and need to unload my Casino just for the sake of not having any more guitars.

That's not how any of this works.

i finally bought a store-bought pedalboard, but it's just been a pain in the ass so far. Velcro stuff doesn't stick to the pedals, shit just falls off while I'm trying to figure out where stuff where it needs to be. Now I have more space than ever taken up by loose pedals and pedal related crapola.

What kind of pedals?  If they're Ibanez or Boss, they'll benefit from your ordering a solid metal back panel for the better velcro stickage factor.  I've got a pair of those pedalltrain boards and can barely pry my pedals off them once I get them stuck on.

Mostly little poors pedals, Donner, Mooer, mostly with rubber or foam rubber bases. Even my EHX pedals have rubber feet on them that sit up higher than the hunk of velcro would, making them essentially unstickable.
