Looking like the wife and I are staring at unenviable task of putting our pretty girl down. She’s been behaving strangely of late and Vet examined her and did blood/fecal testing last week, results came back good. We’re thinking it’s a neurological disorder of some kind.

Wife woke me up early this morning upset as Donut was having a serious episode so we gave her some gabba pentin to calm her down. We emailed Vet videos we recorded of this mornings event but haven’t heard back. Still eats good and uses her litter box.

Here are a few gifs of what she was doing this morning…

I'm really sorry to see this.

My ex-wife and I had a couple of cats, plus our family dog. When we divorced, the ex took her favorite of the two cats with her. A couple of years later, I got a panicked call from my ex before work one morning, saying there was something wrong with that cat. She was really upset and freaking out and I loved that cat, too, since we had adopted her together as a kitten. So, I called into work and went over to her apartment, and it was doing something similar but more violently or vigorously than what yours is doing. It's honestly hard for me to picture in my head because it was so upsetting to see. We took it to the vet, and they said the cat had had a neurological event which they couldn't do anything for, and we had to put her down.

RIP Buki.

A similar situation happened to my fiancee's dog a couple of years ago. It was a sudden event.  The dog was about 12 years old and had what looked like a stroke.  The event lasted just a couple of seconds but it left the dog without the ability to stand.  Up to that point there was no indicators at all. Took the dog to the vet about 10:00pm.  The vet said that it was a neurological event (cannot remember the term) and that they could do an exploratory surgery but could not guarantee any success.  Sadly, it was universally agreed that the best option was to put the dog down.

Sorry for what you are going through. If you're in the Austin area and are considering in-home euthanasia and want a recommendation please DM me. We've had to put 3 pets down over the years--one cat at the vet, a dog and a cat at home--and at home was so much better. Your pet is in peaceful, comfortable surroundings and the ability to grieve/celebrate/heal in your own home vs a vet clinic is worlds better.
