Kyle Rittenhouse

Let me circle back and close the loop.

This concludes this today's lesson from . . . The Power of Cross-Examination or How to Create a Perry Mason Moment in the Courtroom. (available soon in finer bookstores).

The question was choose A or B.  Open-ended (a no-no for most cross), but he was left with choosing two bad choices for his projected persona and demeanor. Rather than choosing A or B, he instead chose to flail, which is the worst choice when trapped.

The prosecutor in the Rittenhouse case needs to work on his cross-examination skills. Rittenhouse was even less prepared for cross than @Bravo and the DA could not execute.

Who can we get on the case? We need Perry Mason. Someone to put you in place, calling Perry Mason. Again.

Yes, obviously no one here likes child rapists. But you keep circling back to this as if it somehow justifies KR’s actions. That’s your great point? KR didn’t know his history and it had nothing to do with his decision to pull the trigger. And if he had, it still wouldn’t be justified. He needs to be prosecuted and punished by the State for those crimes. The death penalty is not a legal punishment for rape, child or otherwise.
Using this as your reason for supporting the shooting only furthers the point that in and of itself it wasn’t justified. Because if the victim had been pure and innocent you wouldn’t have an argument to make.

Pssh, gtfo with your logic. It has no place here.

This so stupid but hand size 9" from thumb to pinky. Challenge on degree and grip.  (definitely not a hand model but definitely 6' 3" and TX grad). Won't do D pics.

Dude, you have weird proportions.  9" hands but are 6'3"?  Not judging your politics or your degree.  But your hands should be bigger than that.  And also not so milky-soft.  Again, no judging...but you must be very popular behind Cracker Barrels.  6'1" and 10.75" on the hands meter.  Granted it still leaves South Austin's mom with 3 inches of unused infrastructure, but dead sexy nonetheless.

Sacks response: “Yeah but the dude was a pedo I’m glad he’s dead.”

Me: “Yeah I got that. What are you having for dinner?”

Sack: “Not sure yet but I am sure that dude was a pedo and I’m glad he’s dead.”

Rosenbaum was acting in conformity with his character by assaulting a minor when he attacked KR. I’m glad KR had the tool needed to defend himself from that attack.  Plenty of you disagree with me.

I asked you this earlier but you ignored me, choosing instead to talk some more about pedos. What weapon did rosenbaum use in his attack against Kyle?

Guys lay off sack for his laser focus on pedos - we know that conservatives tend to focus in on things that remind them of themselves. We see it all the time with gay bashing elected repubs paying gay escorts to give em the NowThis. Or church clergy and pastors cheating on their wives with secretaries while spouting hellfire and brimstone

Y'all keep poking fun at him, he just gin up a reason to self defense you

You saw on video how his attempted attack was foiled.  Luckily his attempt to take KR’s rifle was thwarted.

Ok I’ll ask again. What weapon did he have. And since you’re being obtuse, I’ll make the question even more specific, what did he throw at Kyle during his attack?

His hands.  Kyle’s rifle.  He failed because Kyle shot him.

Are you trying to say he should have waited to shoot him until after the convicted serial rapist gained control of the rifle.  Because that would be really, really stupid.  Truthfully he waited too long to shoot that piece of shit by allowing him to make contact with the rifle.

From the video he shot him multiple times before he could touch the rifle. So where do you get that from?

I'm good with that. If the state did it's job and kept Rosenbaum in prison, none of this would have happened. Everyone would be better off if pedos we're castrated and locked up for life.

And if anyone wants to claim Kyle was "looking for trouble" due to character concerns, then you have to hold the other person to the same standard. Between those two, Kyle is the less shitty person at least. The other two guys that got shot attacked Kyle based on bad assumptions or info, and while that is very unfortunate it goes back to who started the original confrontation that lead to the first shot fired.

He shot 4 times in about half a second.  The Med examiner said his hand was on the rifle.

It doesn’t really matter.  Someone who is chasing where you can’t escape after threatening to kill you twice while acting like a lunatic  — KR would have been justified shooting far earlier than he did.

Kyle was carrying around an assault rifle because he wanted to shoot people and that’s exactly what he did. He’s going to get away with it because judge ringtone excluded his statement from two weeks prior where he admitted that he wanted to shoot people and two weeks later he did.

Don't have to be female to note details that might be pertinent though....

I have heard what many people are saying.  It does make one wonder if Rosenbaum himself was abused, given the propensity for abused to become abuser (like the adopted son of Jerry Sandusky) and also Rosenbaum's two suicide attempts. Pity if so, as early treatment of juvenile offenders (I have no idea how old Rosenbaum was when  Rosenbaum's first actual offense was as he was 17 when he was first charged with the initial sexual assaults (2002) and it doesn't matter anymore as he is no longer living) and intensive treatment for their victims, intervention, and if necessary-incarceration at a facility for mental health disorders with cognitive behavior therapy can stop the cycle before others are victimized. Too often, we treat the symptom and turn away from the genesis that was the driving force. It's a heinous crime, but has no bearing on this case as Rittenhouse was not attacked due to his specific age (the threat that people testified to in court was a general one directed at anyone caught alone, and Rittenhouse was one of the few people who did not seem to stay paired up with a buddy.)

One can find the sexual assault of children or sexual assault in general abhorrent w/o believing it is relevant to Rittenhouse and this altercation.

Excellent post.

And I agree with you about the ring thing. It is telling that this dude isn’t married but given his posts I think we can all understand why not.

I’ve just noticed that women are much quicker to notice that than men. Probably because they are in general more intelligent.

He's not "getting away" with anything, unless you think he is 100% responsible for starting the confrontation with Rosenbaum. I haven't heard any evidence of that, but I have heard plenty about Rosenbaum being a loud belligerent asshole looking to start some shit.

Kyle must have walked by plenty of other protesters that night and didn't shoot anyone. He didn't start any fights either. He didn't even shoot anyone in the crowd by accident, which is pretty amazing to me given the situation. If there were some innocent bystanders shot while he was running away, maybe I could see something serious sticking to him, but he was accurate even under duress. It's not a great outcome by any means, but he didn't go crazy firing at everyone in sight when he genuinely could have felt like he was going to be mobbed on the street.

It's no less stupid than NOT shooting a guy carrying a semi-automatic at low ready next to a government agent in context of Shitty Version America being ruled by an authoritarian who has EXPLICITLY endorsed violence as ok.

That was the Pandora's Box many of us were pointing to years ago. Where the fuck were you?

Pandora's box is encouraging violence from the head of an established, mainstream political party towards their domestic political rivals in the world's oldest existing continuous democracy.

Again-

1) Would it be legally justified in your mind for an armed witness to shoot Derek Chauvin killing George Floyd while Floyd was making it known he couldn't breathe?

2) Would peaceful protestors be legally justified in your mind of using firearms to defend themselves at a political rally if the head rally speaker told the crowd to attack the protestors?

Well lets just award him a medal then. I spent many a night on sixth street, witnessed many fights and otherwise out of control situations, and I too managed not to shoot anyone. Where’s my fucking medal?

Judge ringtone put his thumb on the scales of justice when he excluded the statement from Kyle from two weeks prior stating he wanted to shoot people. Once the defense became self defense, and especially once doughboy took the stand in his defense,  that statement comes in from any reasonable judge who knows what he’s doing.

Instead we get a judge who allows his cell phone to go off multiple times while he’s on the bench, actually gets the jury to applaud a defense witness before he testifies, and otherwise acts like a Barnum and Bailey circus conductor overseeing a three ring circus.

He will likely get off and sack and the DT crew can have their circle jerk masturbation moment but it’s not justice.

It wouldn’t have made a difference.  Self defense is obvious from all the evidence plus video.

But that ruling was correct.  Any half ass criminal lawyer can confirm.  Even the most partisan liberal ones agree that ruling was right.

I do appreciate your RealPolitik getting in the excuse for losing.

Truth is KR shouldn’t have ever been charged.  He was because the DA is a democrat.  That’s the only reason.
