Yes. I hs in the booth that ran the lights for the auditorium we figured out how to gently break a light bulb, screw it in, then quickly light a smoke from the filament before it burned out in a flash.

Worked in a print shop 40 years ago that had carbon arc lamps. Turn those on and get a nice flame to light your smoke.
