man, i hope that burntorange&white and thatguy are at least getting compensated for their efforts in this thread.

every single page, bow: everything is quinn's fault and he is a giant pussy. thatguy: everything that is good is because of quinn and everyone else on the teams sucks. random poster drop in: i think quinn may still be hurt. hank hill: everyone is an asshole and i hate you all.

you guys are both too extreme.

and, as the arbiter of all truth and facts in this universe, you're both right and you're both wrong and you are both too personally invested in your perception. in my opinion, quinn has been playing ghosts since he got back and cannot string together any consistency at all. he's had horrible turnovers against vandy, kentucky, agro, and georgia that have been brutal and put us in very dangerous positions. our defense has bailed us out a lot. much like the baylor game in 2022, quinn was in such a bad place trying to see the game against uk that we literally ran the entire fourth quarter out with zero pass attempts.  the passes he made that were picked (and worse still, should have been picked) against georgia were seriously terrible, as was the one against agro (which would have been picked regardless of deflection). against uga, the miss to moore on the flag (corner post) route on second down in the red zone was an all-time horrible pass. the pass to gunnar on the wheel that would have been called back anyway due to the bond pick was exceptionally terrible given how open he was. the decision to go to golden after the first first down in overtime in the back of the endzone was braindead. on 3rd down, wingo is there for a first down and he dumps it to wisner for nothing. he throws off his back foot and lobs balls way, way too much. he has some of the worst footwork in the history of college football. he's also not really a leader or a guy that extracts the most from his guys...no one is running through a wall for quinn ewers.

on the other hand, he finally had three exceptionally timed and placed deep balls for the first time in a while against uga...building on a couple of nice ones against agro. and it really opened things up for the offense yardage wise. that's a major positive that i had abandoned all hope for prior to the tamu game. he threw some exceptional mid-range balls against uga over the middle of the field as well that looked routine but are much more difficult than they look...especially against uga...one to bond that was much more impressive than it looked on first glance zipped through an over/under zone bracket, a great read on the moore td and good delivery. while the 4th and 2 pass is relatively routine, he put that fucker on a perfect dime in the clutchest of moments. a real nice ball to helm as well through anticipated coverage windows. the bombs to golden were real nice. he moved about the pocket incrementally better in the seccg than he has in a while (still not great but not like regular season uga, ou, or uk). i will say while most of us are frustrated and want better from quinn, his trending from arkansas through georgia has been positive (with a low point in the second half of uk). he was better against uga...and that's a tough team to be good against when they are such an overwhelmingly bad matchup for a sark offense given that they have four linebackers that run like deer that completely destroy all the rinky dink sideways shit.

i think the tamu and georgia games have a lot of positive things to build off of and some seriously braindead shit that nearly killed us. it's quinn's career in a nutshell. but if he keeps up with the turnovers, the teams in the playoffs (including clemson) will punish us in a way that kentucky is not capable. i've said it virtually every week since he's come back: here's hoping we get good quinn. if we can get three quarters of good quinn a game instead of one, we can beat every team in the field.

deep down and gun to my head, my true feeling is that if arch had continued to get experience through the schedule, he would probably be a slightly greater net gain to the offense right now. but that shit is pure speculation. he's an unknown quantity and playing well against miss state, ulm, and utsa is not an indicator of performance against georgia and tamu and all of you slobbing over his highlights against shit teams need to chill some.

here's to a rested and ready quinn lighting the playoff on fire (one can hope).

eta tldr: everyone is right and everyone is wrong. quinn ewers is the duality of humanity in every way. capable of such beautiful dreams and such terrible nightmares.

Not reading that but thanks for the effort.

Pass defense sucked ass, I don’t care what any adjusted stat says. It was the weak point of the team. Teams couldn’t run the ball. But it certainly seemed like Texas couldn’t stop a high school passing attack most of the time.

So you care about total yards or what?

“Seemed like.”

Just to pick a few examples off the top of my head.

Milroe and JT Daniels threw more picks versus us than anyone else last season or the season before.  Daniels threw for 400 yards the week after he lit us up for 150.  Bean and Slovis, both spent some time on NFL practice squads, had amongst their very worst days of the season - yards, QBR.  Wyo had a buck something passing plus a pick 6.

Gabriel had about 7 or so games with more yards passing.  No pass rush.  Hoover started 6 games.  4 were for more yards passing than us.  Baylor had 300 passing but 6 points.  100 yards passing on last 2 drives, down 30.

Houston, OU, UW had a meager pass rush or simply lost contain on quite a few big plays.

Of the 100 top NFL draft picks last year, quick count showed there were 48 offensive players selected.  15 were on our schedule.  That doesn’t include your starting WRs in Bond and Golden.  Or Milroe or Howard or Gabriel.

Id be surprised if historically you’d find a Longhorn schedule that had more collective offensive talent than last years schedule.

But that’s how that DFEI rankings was achieved.

And just for comparisons sake Texas Tech in 2008 and USC in 2005 scored more points than UW did last year.

Hudson Card played Alabama and lost by 1 point.

Card got destroyed in that game. If Quinn doesn't get hurt we might win by double digits. People forget how bad Card shit down his pants at times and he was treated the same a Quinn is now, disdain. I figured most would figure it out when I combined Thompson and Card together that I was speaking about Sarks first year but apparenlty I misjudged.

So how would he have done against the practice squad for Bama. It’s ok to admit when you say stupid things. English is hard for you and that’s ok.

Sarks fist year, he would have been destroyed, maybe not practice squad but I would.t put it past them> Certainly the second team does.

Oklahomas defense was shit, that was an offense driven team.

They had 5 defensive guys drafted from that defense in 2022.  Musta had some talent, some experience anyway.

Yep. Their safeties ran the alley untouched all night cleaning up anything that made it outside including the quick game. We only made hay inside, but even that was embarrassing considering how highly our line is touted. If we could truly run the football. I mean truly. This thread would be a ghost town.

Did you see this thread after the A&M game?

It's a bit difficult to give you much credit here, when you call him a pussy at every opportunity.

I agree for the most part, with Sidis's longcat post.  Plus, Sark's not going to play Manning for any meaningful snaps at this point, unless Ewers gets hurt, so we have to deal with Quinn's good and bad for the rest of the season.

There were points in 2022 and 2023, maybe even in early 2024, that Quinn looked like a future 1-1 pick.

He barely looks draftable at this point.

He will be drafted. He has a ton of talent and NFL teams are always looking for the next big QB.

But probably not first round anymore.

*checks notes* has only lost to Georgia twice this season.

It's not wrong it's the way he wins. Man, do any of you remember what it was like to feel like you did right after tx ou this year? What an incredible game. That's how we are about to feel every game.

Quinn definitely has it in him. Wish we had more time off but actually, a bye week then Clemson then another bye week before Arizona state. Plenty of time to heal before the semis as long as the OL and Quinn can keep Quinn clean for two games in 3.5 weeks.

You are missing the point. We can't run the football well enough to get people out of coverage. Even aggy was willing to suffer the fate of our running game to prevent us from throwing it. When you can truly run the football you see Bear fronts and safeties in the box. If that happened Quinn would light up the scoreboard. Quinn is always throwing into solid coverage. Go watch how Vandy played Tenn and then think how they played us.

I watched both games and all I can think is we’d kill Tennessee and they are not very good. Also thank god we don’t have their qb.

Texas sees more Cover3 than probably any defense. 2 high shell rotating to MOFC is a pretty popular concept in College football these days. You seem to think every 2 high shell stays a 2 high shell.   Georgia ran 50 fronts vs Texas. They also ran a lot of cover 2 man in passing situations

From Vandy, what were you saying about Eagle fronts?

The only team we torched down the stretch of the season was Florida who was missing 3/4 starters and had so many injuries including Lagway. Thinking we’re going to magically turn something in and “kill” a team is laughable.

Quinn exceeds 100QBR and becomes an absolute fucking legend on the pussy scale.

This got me engaging in some wildly-wishful predictions

6. First Round Game vs. Clemson. Ewers goes bananas, has literally the best game of his career (98.1 QBR) +10 for a win = 108.1

7. Quarterfinal Game vs. Arizona State. Ewers is extremely efficient and makes some huge plays (90.7 QBR) + 20 for the win = 110.7

8. Semifinal Game vs. Oregon. Ewers and company win a high scoring game, the defense bends a lot but does just enough in the end to win (93.2 QBR) + 30 for win = 123.2

9. Championship Game vs. Notre Dame. Ewers plays efficient, mistake-free ball. Indeed winning the whole fucking thing (89.0 QBR) + 60 for win = 149.0

409.3 (points from last five regular season games) + 491 (playoff points) / 9 (games) = 100.0 --> DUDE IS A BOSS, a legend is born. 🤞🤘

Not sure what your definition of "the box" is but there is only 5 in the box there. The area occupied by defensive linemen and linebackers is often referred to as "the box". The box is usually about 3-5 yards in depth and spans the offensive line in width.

see the difference above where we have seven in the box, some might say eight. I say seven.

Arkansas had one of the worst secondaries in football. Quinn struggled against them. You can't give Quinn the benefit of the doubt against any defense out there. Especially with how terrible his footwork is in the pocket

Sark is unwilling to put the ball or Quinn at risk in the red zone when we are struggling to run the ball. These stupid fades and horizontal passes he calls when he can attack the middle of the field are so frustrating but most of all he has to run Quinn. Everyone expects it from Arch and no one expects it from Quinn and he has shown he is good enough to get it done. Sark has to force the issue on these defenses with design runs for Quinn and not just stupid QB draws.

Yes I know Colt says hold my beer but this time we have a decent backup.

It is 3rd and 1. I avoided using short yardage situations because I did not want to distort reality. Every situation I used was in normal offense. You can easily find loaded boxes in short yardage or light boxes in obvious pass situations.
