Perhaps Arch squeezes that into a tight window, but Wingo might be missing his head. Talking about a really tight window. There is nothing wrong with the read. You have 2 over 1 on Wingo and 1 on 1 with Livingstone. This is internet breakdown at its finest.

He's not open. A lot of bad can happen if you throw that ball. A couple years back Ewers threw that ball to Sanders. He got hit and the ball came out and up in the air. INT. Worse yet your number 1 receiver is out a couple games.

I think it is easy to slice things up and say you had a .25 of second to hit a tight window, but it is more about process. I am not going to hammer a QB for not throwing a ball into double coverage, because he threw a ball into single coverage. Livingstone makes the contested catch or there is a flag in the endzone, nobody would have said a word. You can go to the quick check down with the crosser opening up, if you want to hammer Arch on his reads.

Did not see this posted but after watching it looks like Arch moves well in the pocket. Also, not having wide receivers open is probably put to rest by this breakdown done by Chase Daniels.

The throw to Wingo, the one at the end, will forever be burnt inside my head. He had one guy to beat and so much space. 🤬🤬

Correct. Arch wasn't as much bad on reads as he was late or inaccurate. He gets a pass on this play.

You guys really need to wake up to reality. I broke down every dropback in the first half of that Monroe game, it was a significantly worse performance than Ohio State. The timestamps are below, just jump to them and watch for yourself. Objectively look at the plays he's making or rather not making and ignore the commentators that are literally blowing him for simply being able to tie his shoes

Some of you guys, I swear, it's like you never stepped into a batter's box in a little league game before.  Form and vision break down under stress.  Athletes who are nervous often revert back to poor form or miss obvious plays.  It's why they practice so much, so that good play becomes second nature.

One and a half bad games doesn't make you a bust.  We've all seen perfect in-game reps from Arch, but we just need to see it consistently and against great defenses.  Save this take for his forth or fifth bad game, because that's about how long his rope is with Sark and we both know it.

If it was not for the poor throwing mechanics, I would completely blow this off. Overall, this was a really tough environment. OSU played really good coverage. Lots of tight windows, so young QB could not be a tick slow. Arch didnt take advantage, when OSU let someone open. OSU forced Arch to play at high level to beat them, he played poorly.

Derka i'm not attacking you here, so please don't take it that way. This take from Ryan Clark about the generational talent is pretty fucking stupid though. Recruiting services and every school in the country all agreed that he was the best QB in his class. He had a 1.000 rating for fucks sake. His arm talent is on the same tier as Lawrence, Andrew Luck, etc. Anyone who saw him play all agreed. What we're just going to fucking act like that didn't happen? How is there any evidence that he isn't a generational player? There is absolutely zero evidence that Bryce Underwood is a generational talent. The Michigan QB room was a dumpster fire. You don't pay someone that much to sit the bench. The family said from the beginning that he was going to sit and take his time - there was no rush. If there is a problem with Arch I think it was that his family allowed him just to sit back and learn rather than push him to take the job from Quinn.

This response is just as reactionary and stupid as those who hyped him to the moon. The kid sucked ass last weekend and deserves his lumps but he also deserves the benefit of time as the starter and time to learn. You can count on 1 hand the number of QBs in college who make that throw down the sideline in the 4th quarter. Ryan Clark can miss me with this bullshit.

Ryan Clark don't know shit about CFB and isn't worth paying attention to in this scenario at all.

but come on man, you can't say "look at the 1.000 rating" when this is Bryce Underwood's rating:

Totally agree. The decision making was fine against a smart and good defense, timing/mechanics were the clear issues.

Yep.  Had he made the limited number of open/available throws he had, it's a different game.

If you throw that ball in the snapshot taken then yes, a lot of bad can happen. Wingo was open right off the rub which is the read and it gives Wingo plenty of room to not get decapitated. It’s a bang-bang play that Arch needs to be quick with trigger on.

The ball to Sanders, are you talking about the one against Oklahoma?

Why are you talking about Colt? The post I quoted and said that was Peyton and Arch comparison.

Sorry, I got distracted by the Colt 2006/ Arch 2025 v. OSU discussion.

If you follow MBG then you know we’re not as bad as others.

Oh, not even close, man. Not even top 5. Aggies keep them in business, but it's absolutely hilarious when breakdowns start here. I am one of them, and I laugh because we are all so invested we just lose our shit over even the most minute things. That's why I love this site. Our pedantry coupled with sarcasm is chef's kiss. But yeah, we aren't even close to the worst, we just get to see it up close.

If nothing else, this shows why coaches will go with experience over talent when push comes to shove.

This guy (former college QB, practice squad guy in NFL, for Sark briefly) thinks he's hurt (or other arm issues).

In game one?  I refuse to believe it. He’s just going for clicks.
