I think there's validity here, but there's also the whole players make plays thing. A lot of smoothing over doesn't happen because I don't remember the last "holy fuck" catch that wasn't Livingston.

Livingstone and Mosley should be our two main receivers. The Wingo experiment should be over. Use him as number 3.

The playcalling would look a lot better if these guys executed anything well whatsoever. The deepest issue is whatever the fuck they are teaching in practice to have 8 out of the 11 dudes on offense looking like they don't know the play and giving shit effort.

Wingo is talented, but I think Sark is force feeding him like he is Worthy.

Wingo has 48 targets, 24 rec, and 320 yards.. 50% comp rate, 6.67 yards/target

Livingstone has 24 targets. 15 rec, and 308 yards.... 62.5% comp rate, 12.83 yards/target

Moore has 24 targets. 20 rec, and 277 yards. ----- 83.3% comp rate, 11.54 yards/target

I would like to see a more targets going to Livingstone and Moore. Wingo even has the lowest yards/completion of the 3, so its not like he is making big plays after the catch (13.3 for Wingo, 13.9 for Moore, and 20.53 for Livingstone).

All i keep saying is he should not be throwing 5 ft over the head of someone 10 yards away with no within miles of him when he's not being rushed...is that really asking too much?

But it's a vicious cycle. He can't hit the easy throws because he's getting pummeled, and he is going to keep getting pummeled because he can't hit the easy throws. The other posters in this thread are saying we need to start the game with a plan that protects Arch and schemes around the OL's deficiencies. That let's Arch get into a rhythm and helps him make the layups. Starting the game with a plan that relies on long developing pass plays will be a recipe for disaster because it puts us in that vicious cycle.

I still don’t get how people think OU was a great performance for the offense. There was only one offensive touchdown that Sark said wasn’t even the play call, and the rest of the points came from the Niblett return and a bunch of FGs. There’s only so much of a beating Wisner can take. Drives not ending in touchdowns is the norm for Sark regardless of who is the QB.

We scored more points and gained more yards on OU than anyone else this season. OU's opponents (outside of Texas) are averaging 7.2 points per game. We scored 23. OU's defense gives up an average of 198 yards per game against teams not named Texas. We had 302 yards of offense.

And if you say OU has not faced a lot of quality opponents, well you're not wrong. But my point isn't that our offense is amazing. It's that the OU defense is legitimately good and we played well against them. It was a good performance against a good defense, and probably the best offensive performance we've seen all season.

That's why people think it was a good game for the offense.

I believe that any QB that can hit wide open receivers consistently, get the ball out quickly to checkdowns, and realize there is a field of play from the LOS to 10 yards would be better than arch.

quite literally no one is expecting 2019 lsu offense but we are expecting at least competent QB play.

I could see where you are coming from if we are also going to simplify the offense and stop with the stupid trick plays on 3 and 2,etc. If your throwing anyone else out in this offense with the current gameplan I don't think you are going to get wildly different results in the long run.

Do you really believe the alternatives on the bench are better? It's not like Caldwell or Lacey are going to magically unlock a 2019 LSU offense. Our line can't block UTEP. Our receivers can't get separation. We have one healthy-ish RB with a proven track record. The offense is broken in so many more ways than Arch playing terrible.

My brother in Christ, every sentence in this post is inexcusable at the University of Texas in 2025 and must result in coaching sacrifice. The fans deserve blood for having to endure this.

He’s an athlete that plays wide receiver. For some reason I always forget about Moore so with that said he should be 4th in line. Dude just isn’t a receiver and doesn’t do the stuff receivers do to be good. If it’s not right in his bread basket or some kind of reverse when have you seen him make a play? UTSA where the defender fell down?

Moore deserves more targets. He is the most experienced. Like to see Moore featured more in the short to intermediate game and let Livingstone be the deep/contested catch guy. Still need to work Wingo in, but he has not shown that he deserves to be featured. Before someone misconstrues this post, I am not saying Wingo sucks. I am just saying at this point in his career, he should not be the featured WR.

Texas had a great string of RBs the last 5 years, with Bijan, RJ, Jonathan Brooks and some others. Last year Tre Wisner and Jaydon Blue were a pretty good tandem. It looked like it was going to continue with Baxter/Wisner and a few others, but it hasn't really panned out. Tre had a great game vs the Sooners and the team looked completely different. This team just doesn't have the RB room it's had the last few years and Sark's offense needs a couple of great RBs for it to work.

Baxter would help, but RB room starting this season is disappointing

Scipio Tex on Kentucky game...

RUNNING BACK

Wisner is a third-down change-up back miscast as an every-down back that we deprived of the one run concept where he excels. I thought he ran fine, but he wasn’t able to do much after contact. He’s game in pass protection, but lost some physics battles. Wisner is currently averaging 3.8 yards per carry on the season. He has two carries longer than 10 yards.

Christian Clark had a hard run for 8 yards where he broke a tackle. That was the game-high longest run for the RBs. If you count RB runs and called runs with Arch, Texas ran 23 times for just 54 yards.

Wingo is a classic NIL conundrum. You tell the donors we need the money for Arch’s deep threat. He cost a lot. We aren’t gonna stop banging our head against that wall any time soon.

Brooks was give a 3.8 pass pro grade vs OU with 9 pressures allowed. Not even sure how a 3.8 is possible. Could not find Hutson's pass blocking grade, but overall he was 54.6. I am pretty confident saying it was shitty. You have to factor that in.  I believe there were 25 pressures on 27 attempts. 78% comp is nice, but the 0 turnover worthy plays was huge in that game considering the pressure.

Brooks had a 17.7 PFF pass blocking grade; Huston had a 21.4.

I watched our offensive possessions vs. Kentucky for a 3rd time, because I'm a masochist. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. It's gets so much worse with repeated viewings.  Just a bunch of bumbling chucklefucks out there on the field. Everything is disconnected. And UK owning the TOP made everything worse. There is zero rhythm on offense.

Situationally, the worse Arch miss was to Endries. FUCK. Godfuckingdamnit. That would have basically ended the game IMO.

It could be worse, you could be a Kentucky fan. Stoops should be thrown in jail for financial crimes for losing that game.

My nephew is visiting, and he was adamant that Stoops did the right thing on 4th down in OT.  I argued the opposite, regardless of what "analytics" might say, because we could not move the ball.  What happened?  We didn't move the ball but won the game anyway.  To the kid's credit, he capitulated and said "yeah, I get your point".

Brooks -  14.1

Robertson - 30.9

Goosby - 51.8

Baker - 63.3

Campbell - 87.6

Brooks had a 0 rating in true pass sets (excludes screens, play action,  and quick passes). There were 10 total true pass sets.

You are right. None of our current linemen will be playing in the NFL when they are done here right?

This.  His D was winning the game, not his O.  Let your best unit on the day win or lose the game for you.  Stoops allowed our D/ST to win the game for us when our O had basically no chance by themselves to win the game.

This is a dogshit fastball at Wingo’s feet: Arch is 100% to blame for this incompletion. The ball is the speck on the 35 yard line, right before it hits the turf.

My sincere question; Is it too much to ask Wingo to get down and at least attempt to catch it? It was high velocity, would need to be a quick reaction.

100%. Its no different than a secondary with 2 all-Americans and 2 terrible players. The offense is going to attack the weak links, the defense will do the same. Kentucky hunted Brooks and Robertson.

Attacking the interior gaps vs a highly mobile QB is pretty standard operating procedure. They would've done the same last year too.

I think Wingo is an excellent athlete and a so-so receiver, based largely on the fact that he cannot catch a ball that isn't thrown right in his hands.

That being said - yes, it is unreasonable to expect him to try to catch this ball. He would have to anticipate that it would be in the dirt and start his dive the moment it left Manning's hands.

Oddly enough, DeAndre Moore did just that later in the game. The throw from Manning was low, but Moore anticipated that and was already on his way down for the catch when the ball was in the air. But that is an elite level of situational awareness (which apparently did not carry over to the run out of bounds late in the 4th) that I don't think you can reasonably expect from any receiver.

His body language is terrible out there. On the wide open crosser that Arch missed in the 1st quarter, Wingo kept going straight to the sidelines and sat down on the bench by himself, never breaking stride.

Like, I know it's frustrating. But there's just so much bad mojo.

Attacking the interior gaps is the best way to disrupt any offense. Has 0 to do with mobility. There is a huge difference between succeeding and trying. Texas replaced one of the best pass blocking guards in the nation with worn-down speed bump. Center is not quite as dramatic, but still a massive downgrade. You are being willfully ignorant.

Yeah, this doesn't seem to be one of those Texas teams with a whole lot of intrateam connections, regardless of what Sark says about "culture".  I keep saying it, and I believe it:  this ain't our year.

We have issues and this board is a beating but if yall want to see castles crumbling go checkout lsu, penn st. , Clemson boards. They have worse offenses and had the same expectations we had. They’re out for blood cause they’re actually losing. Ugly win is better than pretty loss.

We are terrible at blocking as a team, not just OL, but the WRs and RBs and TEs too. That's why our screen passes, behind the line throws, or the end arounds never seem to work. Someone seems to be missing their blocking assignment on every play. There is no culture guy like Whittington on offense who sets the tone for others to follow. Culture carried us to the playoffs in the last two years, and I am afraid, the lack of it will keep us out this year.

Kicking at that under thrown ball like a dipshit too. He’s dropped way too many passes this season to think he’s too good to make an honest attempt at that and act like a bitch. It suggests that some of the balls he’s dropped that were behind him were due to a lack of effort. We have to expect him to portal if we stick with Arch, but perhaps it will be for the best in the locker room.

Dude. Attacking the interior gaps while not rushing past quarterback depth so they dont escape out the sides is and has been standard operating procedure for running quarterbacks all our lives. The LG and the C suck but their numbers are even worse because thats where our opponents are sending the extra bodies. Every opponent from here on out is going to try and keep Arch in the pocket. As they should. Its not rocket science.
