Texas Softball 2025 - Sick of Being Second Place

Unfortunately with the 4,5,6 due up we will rely on the 7,8,9 hitters to drive in the runners that get on base. Our lineup isn't set up for a big inning in the bottom of the 7th.

Hopefully Goode has another HR in her stick tonight after the two in regionals

Well like others said it's fucked up that we had zero recruits who could develop into taking her spot by now

OK but the whole discussion about Bennett was that white wanted goode to play second because of bennett so he moved a person who can't play SS at this level to SS, which is a recent change.  we all know bennett shouldn't be playing but our other IF got hurt. the question is what do you do with her now that she is and you don't have another fielder that is better.

Mike is now 0-for-whatveer in game 1 of supers at Texas

does this man even prep for the games all week?

Piss poor by our staff and our team. It’s mental with Stewart now, and he has to see that. Make the switch and play Quiroga or Cimuz in the OF and let Katie DP for a few games. He is gonna have to pitch Mac or Cit to start game 2 and if we get a lead, TK can close

It's actually humorous how many times the ball found her at short stop.  Funny thing is Goode probably makes 5 of the 7 outs, and Stewart probably makes the play in LF that Bennett didn't.   We win.

Katie needs to DP for a game or two and get her head right. If her defensive miscues affect her hitting we are completely fucked. I am guessing we see something different tonight….if not then it’s just coach White trying to show us all how smart he is.

Yep. DP or move her back to left. Otherwise, Quiroga or Hunter or Katie C in left, Goode at SS, Bennett at 2B

The other question I have is….

how bad is a Brister at 2B and the plate?

Seems like Katie to DP and Brister to 2B w/ Goode at SS solves all the issues. If you don’t want Brister and Bennet in the lineup the put Quieroga in LF.

Play Brister at 2B and just make her bunt lol

Look on the bright side: We can't possibly play any worse. Let's just not go out tomorrow and prove we can.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Texas can play worse. Not because of talent but because of stupid coaching decisions. Texas has the talent to beat anyone but Canada and Pickens.

Texas wouldn't be in this situation if he had gotten Joley ready to play 3rd and Mia ready for SS when Vivi was injured. Or even Joley at SS. Joley was a very good 3rd baseman at ND. Is it really that much tougher to play 3B at Texas?? Stewie is also pretty good at 1st, but not SS. And I think Quiroga would've been the best option at LF. Hunter just sucks against good pitchers but MW keeps putting her in the lineup for an automatic out. And poor effort certainly deserves a benching. It's also a cancer to the team.

All great points. I've wondered why Joley — who has among the best hands and steadiest focus of anyone on the team — was relegated to a defensive position a couple others could play well enough. I understand initially not wanting to move multiple players when Vivi got hurt, but it didn't take long to see Bennett was an issue at 2B. Trying to fix that problem with Stewie at SS and Goode at 2B clearly proved much worse overall. Last night was the most egregious example, but it's been building toward that kind of fiasco for way too long.

If we fans could see all of this over the course of a few months, I'm not sure why there wasn't more urgency in seeking a real solution. I can only blame the HC for not only failing to shuffle the remaining pieces better but also for not having recruited enough backup talent to bridge the gap. Those are his jobs.

It will be interesting (hopefully not depressing) to see who's playing where tonight. Regardless of the lineup, I'd be tempted not to let Hunter even suit up.

Yesterday Mike White gave the credit to Coach Singleton on the position switch suggestion, said they didn’t want to move multiple players.

all and all MW imo needs to make some tough decisions this off season with this staff.

honestly as far as tonight goes, I won’t be shocked with any outcome unfortunately.

Well Vivi is only a sophomore. It’s hard to ask a stud recruit to sit behind her for 3 years

Ladies better bring the bats tonight because I'm afraid the pitching is going to be a large ball of meh.

Hopefully we are pleasantly surprised by somebody who has some pride and drive and steps up their game on the mound tonight.

Bri Ellis and Courtney Day’s team are down 5 runs. UCLA is down 5 runs as well.

Arkansas sucking isn’t a surprise

Spotlight has been on Stewie, but Atwood has been quiet as well. Iirc Reese faded in the post season last year as well. We need her to wake up

Historically under Mike, we have bounced back in game 2 every year except 2023 (Tenn) to force a game 3

Even the year Elish got her face destroyed by Iakopo

We've been saying all year Stewie at short was gonna cost us a game that really mattered . . . maybe that was it, although it's hard to pin that shitty performance on just her.

Frankly, we've looked pretty listless against good teams for a while now.  The regional got my hopes up, but this team is otherwise in a funk.  Hopefully we come out tonight ready to fuck shit up.

Duke beating FSU last night was wonderful.  If a meteor can’t hit the ball field, then I want FSU to lose again today.
