I’m pretty sure it’s happened in mlb history, and pretty recently well… I feel like I just heard about someone doing this.

For the Astros, I think this week in 1983 is as close as you are going to get:

There's also the famous stretch in '86 that included Scottie's clenching no-hitter.

So, why did Espada pull Brown? Arms don't fall off at 100 pitches.

Especially when Abreu and Hader aren’t both available … which “why a reliever can’t pitch three days in a row” is an entirely different, but not dissimilar, conversation

Fuck Joe Espada.

That's just the way the game is managed these days. I agree we should have left Hunter in, but I'm guessing 95% of managers would have made the same call

OMG 100 pitches, get him out!!1!  I hate that modern baseball hates letting guys try to be great.  Reminds me of pulling Altuve when he's 4 for 4.

Doubly so when apparently we've decided we're not using Hader today.  Sucks that this costs Brown a W...and why it's so hard to get to 20 these days.

Why pull King with a runner on 1st and 2 outs?  I'd feel better about him finishing the last out than have Abreu get 1 out then have to sit and get back up.

Abreu is coming in even though he was overused last week.

Yes the plan was to get through the 8th playing with fire and then Abreu to close it out.

when it should have been brown through 8, then Abreu for the 9th.

or brown 7, Abreu 8th and Hader 9th (only threw 14 pitches tues, 16 pitches last night).

The lineup needs to be refigured.

Smith needs to be in the Top 4, and Meyers never needs to leave the 9th spot.

If Alvarez makes it back it needs to be

Pena, Smith, Alvarez, Paredes, Altuve, Diaz, Walker, FA, FO

Agreed, my beef on this is with modern baseball, not just Espada.

Bittersweet….
sweet: Helluva sweep in a series you score 5 runs?!

Bitter: we’re due for a 12-0 thrashing tomorrow at the hands of the cubs….at a game that I’ll be in attendance

next 12 games are huge, predict the record ...

7-5

12-0!!!

3-0 start. Next up, cubs who have an identical 48-33 record.

Then the Rockies. Then the dodgers who are currently 50-31

win all 3 series and could very easily have the best record in the Majors (or at worst, neck and neck with the Tigers.

Halfway home.

On pace for 96-66 with Jake Meyers third best OPS, Altuve negative WAR and Yordan appearing in 29 games. Just like we all drew it up back on page 1.

P.S. Jon Singleton is back in the system! (And Whitley is not).

We’re probably not getting a position player all star that’s not an injury replacement. We should get 2-3 pitchers.

Wouldn’t Jermey Pena be a position player all star for us with the final vote deal and commissioners choice stuff?  He’s got to be the odds on favorite to win that.

Pena will 100% be selected to be an All Star

Curious what someone like Sparky Lyle or Rollie Fingers would say about throwing three days in a row.
