[Charania] Turner, the longest tenured Pacer, made it known he wished to remain in Indiana. Since the Game 7 exit, Turner’s reps pushed to get a deal done. Ultimately, Indiana’s aversion to the tax, which grew after Tyrese Haliburton’s injury, allowed Bucks to get the new franchise center.

Windhorst described the Dame buyout as getting a “mortgage on your mortgage”. Biggest buyout previously was $31 million in 2001 for Bison Dele. $23 million in dead cap for the next 5 years in the NBA is INSANE. What a horrible move to try to keep Giannis happy.

Spurs just offered Harrison Barnes and a training table for Giannis.

[Charania] The Sacramento Kings are trading Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric, sources tell ESPN.

Denver is having a spectacular off season. If Bruce Brown isn't washed and they can generally stay healthy, I think they're the best team in the league.

I can't believe Milwaukee is eating $22 million for the next five years on Lillard just so they can sign Myles Turner. This is some bonkers shit.

Holy shit Nuggets cooking. Better toward the cap than Yabu at $6M per. Still have powder for another bench contributor.

SGA supermax done - 4 years 285 mill

Can someone explain to me how this works? Why is one max 2 years and another 4? And how is the MVP/World Champ worth less per year than Booker? My only memory of Booker is of him being a pouty little bitch in last years playoffs while getting punked nonstop by Luka.

The Kings should be relegated from the NBA for stupidity and generational shittiness. They got horrible value for Valuncianas and are fucking helping the Nuggets have a great offseason. Damn, damn, damn.

Booker still has 3 yrs left on his deal.   SGA only had one yr left.  They started letting teams extend player when they have 3 yrs or less left recently but a player cannot have more than 5 yrs on the books.   Max salary is calculated based on yrs of service.  Booker has been in the league for 10 so his max is 35% of the cap.   SGA has been in the league for only 7 so his max would be 30%.

Thanks. Stupid complicated but that makes sense. If SGA is still at the top of his game when he hits 10 years would he extend at 35%?

Yep, he would then have 2 yrs left and be above 10 yrs of service.   So it would make sense for him to not extend in 2 yrs and wait another yr.

Dude, Denver. Save some for the rest of us. Atlanta, Houston, and Denver are having incredible off-seasons. New Orleans and Milwaukee, not so much. At least they’re world class drinking towns.

Nuggets front office is putting in work.  Just shows how bad Booth was in that role. I love it.

Crazy how Booth had to give up 3 2nds to offload Reggie Jackson’s 1 year 5 mil deal when Reggie actually played and contributed, albeit not great. Booth really fucked us post ship, GD. Maybe we should thank Booth for his idiotic player option for Saric considering we were able to get Jonas for him haha.

Reported as a straight up swap. Did not even have to throw in some basketballs or a 12 pack of Coors Banquet

Ya when I saw the trade I was sure there had to be more to it, but we don’t have tradeable picks aside from a 2032 2nd, if I’m not mistaken. Couldn’t believe straight swap.

So so so glad that Ben Ten Wallace understands the GD assignment.

For the same price as Myles Turner. Raptors hate winning.

And I kind of think that's a lot for Turner - but at least he can shoot.

Just gonna state that working for a company based out of Canada and today being Canada Day with 90% of the office out is really nice for following NBA Free Agency all day. No meetings, NBA TV on the big screen, Reddit, X and surly. LFG Nuggs!

The Nets are bottoming the fuck out. They are taking on a salary that they need anyway to get to the salary floor and in return getting an unprotected first round pick when Jokic is like 37 years old. They can also trade MPJ probably for another first round pick at the deadline in 2027 when his contract is expiring. It's textbook use of cap space for a tanking team. They still have more assets to deal. More tanking, more pick collecting, etc.

Their unprotected 2027 belongs to the Rockets though.

Tim Hardaway Jr. to the Nuggets

Jokic got a backup and an actual bench in one offseason

What the actual fuck was Booth doing the last couple of years? That dude must’ve thought he got paid for fighting Malone.

Posted (edited)

Lol they got him for the vet min.

That said his #s have been bad for a few seasons now. We'll see if Jokic can breathe some life into him.

I'm more pissed off about last offseason seeing what they have done with fewer resources than Booth had (since he loved handing out picks and player options).

And the amazing part is they did all that while improving their cap situation substantially.

Incredible. We have the ability to add one more, but pretty sure we’d have to go over the first apron which I think we’re gonna avoid so we don’t get the repeat offender. FO said they wanted perimeter d, shooting and big man depth. After one full day of FA: check, check and check!

I picked an excellent fucking time to take over my buddy’s half season ticket for the Nuggs a few months ago.

And if Holmes can contribute next year, that's just icing on the cake.  They can go from having too few bench players to guys fighting for minutes off the bench.
