Entertaining match. Corn players and fans are so smug, even if they pull this out they'll have been taken down a notch. I'm here for it.

Never will be tired of seeing Harper and Murray lose after the way they acted in 2024. The only player I like on Nebraska is Bergen, she seems like a respectable gal.

This is where you wonder if dominating all year isn't a benefit. Nebraska looks like they're wilting under pressure because they've rarely been in this situation.

I actually think Corn is running into a bad matchup, might be the worst matchup in the country. Reminds me of Texas vs Corn in 2023.

So busy playing to the crowd, flexing and smirking. Meanwhile, Kelly is a spectator.

Aggy block is fucking them up badly.  Even if the serving wasn’t doing it’s own damage, they’d be right there just from the block.

Yeah coach basically said that during the changeover right there. He said we are just playing our game and our block is causing them issues, nothing special.

I feel dirty pulling for aggy, but not as dirty as I'd feel pulling for Corn.

I share this feeling just because of Nebraska #5's attitude two years ago.:D

Our soft serves makes it easier for Corn to execute.

how much longer does JE have until he retires? Would Morrison be a realistic replacement?

He's basically the same age as Sean Miller. Both born in 1968. He's going to at least coach a few years in the new building, if not longer. I'd say 10 years minimum. More depending on his makeup.

Nebraska hates us with a passion that's a little startling if you're not aware of it. It's not Aggie obsession, because that's a whole different level than anything else in college rivalries. But it's really really high. It's not volleyball specific, either, although that's where most of it gets centered. Wisconsin is their arch rival in the Big 10 and they're hoping the Badgers drill us a new one later today. It's passed down generationally, too.

Also, to remind everyone, while they don't hate A&M, they sure hate Trev Alberts, who left them high and dry, threw shade at them as an athletic department as he was leaving, and now A&M is in the college football playoffs, while Nebraska has only recently elevated themselves above moribund mediocrity. It's going to hurt worse than usual if A&M wins.

DBK will never live down the choker reputation if she doesn’t win with this roster in year 1

Maybe but this group had that tendency before she got there

Nebraska is a school and fanbase without a country. The glory days of football are gone, likely forever. So is the conference they felt they owned until Texas showed up. They don't really fit into the B1G, no matter its membership or geography. They're dull, isolated and of zero interest to anyone outside their windblown borders. They're the Amish in brighter clothes.

Welcome to the midwest.

They've shifted their whole state's identity to volleyball. It's the one thing they take state pride in. Used to be football. Now they hang on to that sellout record like grim death.

The thing is, it's not about living in Nebraska. If you ever lived in Nebraska. If your parents or grandparents lived in Nebraska, you basically root for the volleyball team. And their coach Terry Pettit was basically the Johnny Appleseed of volleyball for that state. They'll never have as much overall talent as Texas, because they don't have the population. But when every little girl dreams of playing volleyball for Nebraska, they sure produce a lot of talent for their size. And the support is absurd.

I attended the Oregon-Nebraska match last year in Eugene. They broke the attendance record by a huge amount. At least half the crowd was Nebraska fans. HC Ulmer acknowledged them when he addressed the crowd. I talked to a bunch of Nebraska fans who were there, and none of them came from Nebraska. They all traveled from all over the west coast, just wanting to watch their volleyball team play live, and watching them in Eugune was easier than going back to Lincoln. Prettier, too. It's a phenomenon.

No, I think that's just conference play.

Edit - Js1 with the right answer. Lost one set in conference play. Jeez.
