He whiffed on some absolutely CRITICAL blocks.

He shouldn’t even be put in those situations considering his stature. You can’t make me believe he is executing these blocks in practice. He should be a return guy and a gadget player similar to Keilan Robinson.

He had some pretty solid punt returns on Saturday. Glad to see some progress on special teams.

You mean the guy that's not playing because he has a concussion?  Hard to be a "consistent, solid, contributor" when injured.

Ok then when he's played he hasn't been a consistent solid contributor.

I wonder if Neto told the staff he's redshirting and transferring last week. Just odd that he would get 0 snaps with Stroh playing like this.

He already redshirted his first season here.

I'm sure the market for 4th-year players who got beat out by Connor Stroh is booming.

We did not hear one word about Stroh in the offseason and then all of the sudden right before Ohio St we hear he is the likely starter. As if Stroh secretly beat out Neto without so much as one 9.95’er mentioning that as a possibility. I doubt Stroh is somehow killing it in practice.

I don’t agree that the other issues are greater than Arch, I do agree there are other issues besides just Arch. However the buck starts with him. We need better play from him first and foremost. Just average play from him and we are 3-0 and still ranked #1 in the nation.

average play from arch does not negate but neutralizes every other problem with the offense

No one is saying that Arch is the only problem.    No one is saying if Arch is fixed we have the 2019 LSU offense.      But if you are in a lifeboat with multiple holes, you fix the biggest one first, and a QB that can't hit a 5 yard out to a wide open receiver is the biggest fucking hole in our boat.

The Roy Kent book section may help- middle row and 2nd from the left has AM's name all over it. JK - a little humor to lighten the mood. Hope the light comes back on for him and he leads the rest of the offense in getting their stuff together - quickly. First, for his own sake, and secondly, for the sanity of this board.

There there

We are going to wreck Sam Houston, but then this problem on offense will get worse before it gets better.

If you're a SEC defensive coordinator, you're licking your chops.  Texas has a QB that is having trouble with basic short and intermediate passes, but sees his strength as the deep pass, but is easily rattled.  What do you do?

  • 3-high safety shell to take away any deep ball - UTEP did this
  • Single cover the WRs who the QB can't hit anyway in short passes and/or play soft zone - all SEC defenses can do this easily
  • Stack the box to kill the run game that the Texas O-line can't push anyway - cantwait.gif
  • Blitz over and over

Even if Arch stumbles into a handful of slants or seam passes, SEC defenses are going to make him dink/dunk down the field now - because he can't do it.  And we can't run it well enough either.

I think stacking the box would be a major mistake. OSU went mostly light boxes and dared Texas to bet them running the football. If UTEP didnt feel the need to stack the box, why would anyone else? The only thing Arch has done at a reasonable level is run the ball and throw deep. No need to open yourself up to explosive plays. I would say the same for blitzing. Why give Arch easy reads or open yourself up for him to scramble, while your DBs have their backs turned in man coverage.

PK would destroy this offense. Just take away explosives and force them to execute 8-10 play scoring drives. You can always adjust if out of the blue the offense finds a running game or a consistent short passing game.

This is why Ewers won, for all his faults. If you can't hit the little throws, you're not moving the chains.

Sark being dumbfounded on a weekly basis for years now that defenses are installing the package that he’s consistently stymied by is a very good recurring bit

I don’t know if you go to games or bother to watch/rewatch the games on TV but more often than not there are WRs open throughout the game. I think Sark is dumbfounded because he can’t understand why his offense hasn’t been able to execute.

Mostly because I don't think Arch can hit enough of those plays to make a difference.  Sark is obviously going to be running Arch more so I'd be run blitzing to wreck Arch on those, and if he is trying to throw he shows a propensity to hold the ball for way too long which will create sacks.  The 3-high shell limits explosives.

This is the beginning of the end. It’s not a coincidence that no one in Moncrief seems to give a shit after Sark got his extension.

5-7/2010 here we come.

He’s just another FUPM with less skins on the wall and substance abuse issues. Look at how defensive he’s getting with media now…we’re fucked.

I think the issue as has been stated a handful of times here and OTF is Neto is a loose cannon. Apparently they can’t trust him to control his aggression.

Given where things are, I don’t see how we don’t make that trade off, especially given the potential of his aggression being a positive influence on the OL (get fucking mean), even if it means a 15 yarder every other game.

That is the craziest thing. There is no way in hell the offense did anything vs this defense in practice, but somehow all the issues seem to be a major surprise to the staff. I get the Arch meltdown being a surprise, but the rest of the issues had to be staring the staff in the face all of August. Sark still calling games like the offense is capable of winning the day, which hasnt been the case for 2 seasons now. Time to embrace field position and punting

2 seasons...?  How about 3.

We wandered the desert of barely mediocrity for almost 2 decades because we had shit QBs after shit QBs after shit QBs. It all started with GDGG.

Arch, get your fucking shit together.

Sark, plug the fucking plug quick if he stays shitty. We cannot let this shit turn into a GDGG situation which gets everyone fired for decades.

Agree, except the one good thing is if Arch is a bust, we can go out and buy a good qb from another team.

He mentioned that after the San Jose State game that they learned after their first year in 2021 that they needed to be prepared for a different defensive look every game than they've seen on film.

I don't think they are surprised by it, but he probably needs to just stop mentioning it because I could see how it comes off that way.

We are already one of the most undisciplined and penalized teams in the country through 3 weeks.

I think everyone needs to come to terms with the fact that Neto Umeozulu isn't good at football, and there is a reason he isn't playing in his 4th year in the program. They were basically going to hand him a starting spot after last year, and he still found a way to let someone pass him on the depth chart.
