Heard that rumor.  Also heard Round Rock 6A schools (McNeil, Westwood, RR, Stony Point, Cedar Ridge) might be joining some Austin ISD teams (Bowie, Austin High?)

Guess that would push Drip south with Hays CISD schools, San Marcos, and Comal/New Braunfels??

Whoever said it before, I agree, the 6-man state title games need to be in Abilene.  These are all west Texas teams, every year.

the kids want to play at jerrah world

good steaming quality

Gordon didn’t play a single home game all season and mercy ruled everyone anyways. They’ll fall off hard next year, and I imagine their HC heads off for greener pastures, but they’ve been fun to watch.

Agreed. I get the fans and players want to play at Jerry World but it doesn't translate that well to the 100yd NFL field because it has to be coned off. Hard to watch on tv because of this.

Jarrell is the one that blew me away.  No fudging there.
they moved up to 4ADI for 2026-27 and they are already 42nd out of 103 schools.  Watch em do 2 years before jumping to 5ADII.
2021 ADM- 759
2023 ADM- 951
2025 ADM- 1147

I don’t know their past figures but Grand Oaks is now pushing 4,000. I thought they were slightly higher than us in the mid 3,000s.

I get it that it’s a great experience for the kids, coaches and fans but I can’t get into the 6 man game at all. They might as well be playing flag football for the amount of defense played in those games.

If there was no Jerry World:
Gordon vs Rankin- Abilene or Sweetwater
Jayton vs Richland Springs- Abilene.  Call it even and do a 6-man double header.
Joaquin vs Hamilton- The Woodlands
Muenster vs Shiner- Waco ISD Stadium or McLane
Grandview vs Yoakum- Kyle Field
Wall vs Newton- Waco ISD or McLane
Stephenville vs Kilgore- SMU or Cotton Bowl
Carthage vs WOS-  SHSU Huntsville
Frisco Lone Star vs Smithson Valley- Temple
SOC vs Richmond Randle- Temple
Duncanville vs North Shore- DKR
DeSoto vs CE King- DKR

re: the slot T

the triple option is "technically" undefendable in context of preventing an offense from gaining 4 yards per play

the valley and el paso schools should use it

You have to slant and stunt on defense and take chances.  You either disrupt the OL or give up 12 if you aren't physically superior.

Joaquin has no size on its skill players. It's all quickness and hiding behind blockers.
Hamilton is playing good stay at home D so far.

I know it’s sacrilege to Texas HSFB but I hate the slot-T.

I still have a soft spot for it.  It was the first offense I ran in junior high.  It was scratched though by the time I got to high school.

Whether it's Air Raid, flex-bone, Power I- whatever.  IDGAF if they execute well.

I don't hate on any of em unless they just can't consistently run it properly.

Hah I grew up like 20 miles from there and used to bang a chick named Gail who lived in Gail, so this hits close to home…

So glad we graduated from this junk. Having them all at one location for an extended weekend is great.

My dad is the HC at Andrews and he runs it. We ran it at Refugio when I was in HS. Just one of those things where I’ve grown tired of it and have taken a liking to the more spread out offenses that most of the schools run nowadays

So Joaquin had what 800 people  how are they 2A

Not everyone lives in the city limits.  That is not a remotely unusual population for a 2A town. The community is likely bigger than that( obviously.)

Yep.  Nothing better than a well run triple option where you line up everyone knows what’s coming and can’t do a damn thing to stop it.  But there’s nothing worse than a triple option attack that can’t get out of its own way.  Still prefer that over a poorly run air raid.  At least the games are over pretty quick.

You have to love the small town football team that says screw signals and arm bands.  Let’s have the qb run back and forth from the sideline every play.

Poor qbs probably ran an extra two miles in this game.  No wonder he’s wore out.

Dammit, I was hoping the Rams would start a comeback so I could issue my Joaquin Phoenix joke.  Now they’re messing everything up.

Hamilton didn't throw away its shot!
