does SOR include margin of victory or is is SOS?  I can't remember.

Does not.  It is W-L against SOS.  Basically a measure of pure resume, no eye-test.

Way too much aggie-like "we have good losses" in here.     We have 3 losses.   I don't care who they are to.    If we get in by a hair, great, i'll take our chances and hope.   But if we get left out we have no one else to blame but ourselves.

This. If you have three losses, you can't complain if you get left out. Though teams with no good wins (i.e. the big 12) can't complain either.

Outside of seeing exactly where they slotted us, I'm most interested to see what they do with Utah this week after giving up 470 rushing yards to Kansas State at home.  I mentioned the first rankings set that I thought they put them too high which could cause an issue down the road given that they had to keep the Tech/BYU winner ahead of them and that is playing out.  This is an opportunity to move them back if they want after a shitty performance in a home W.  Of course, the problem with moving them back is it gets Miami closer and reinforces their Miami/ND problem.

I think in theory they could put us at 13 with GT and USC losing and H2H v Vandy and Miami is ACC(SOS not good) but I expect us to be 15.  with a win against aggy  11 is probably as high as we get and get the Bama consolation prize, "top 12 but sorry G5".

If we end up 11/12 and get left out for G5/ACC, so be it. Our own fault but a Citrus Bow invite and 10 wins would be a good consolation after the struggles

The only path opens up if the Big 10 is a three team league, the ACC is one, and the Big 12 is one. If that doesn’t happen, Friday’s result won’t matter.  And then you probably need some chaos above us anyway.

If we win, we would have 3 wins against the top 12 teams. No one else could say that they played 5 of the top 12. That has to mean something.

If Vandy loses to TN they’ll likely tumble quite a bit because people will realize their best win is a shitty, 4 loss Mizzou.

I believe it will simply because the resumes of the others just wouldn't be nearly as good.

Speaking of resumes - Ohio State really doesn't have any good wins other than that first game against us and a decent Washington team.

If they lose to Michigan they'll still be in but might get a much lower seed than people think.

We kind of exposed them (before the 4th quarter nonsense.)

There are 7 scenarios for who can make the Big 10 championship. There's even a dumb one where Michigan and Ohio State both make it. I'm sure Ohio State wouldn't mind sitting home again. It worked out last year for them.

I mean you don’t have to ask them, Texas is the highest ranked three loss team and above teams with 2 losses including a traditional power like Michigan.

But behind several two loss teams. We’ll jump Ga Tech and USC but likely still be behind Miami (probably fair), Utah (0 ranked wins, marquee ooc game was UCLA), and Vandy (won head to head and their ooc game was Virginia Tech).

Be interesting to see if Texas/Vandy are touching...but really if Texas slips past them to 14. Texas should, at worst, be 15th.  A win over Aggie, depending on what else happens, should get them into the top 11 after that.  Then we'll just have to see who wins the ACC and the G5 who'll knock them out.

I predict that if we beat the aggies you are going to see an absolute full court press on ESPN and the playoff committee. The Manning family is going to leverage their connections and Sark/connected Texas alumni are going to start banging the drum about how two of our losses are to the top 2 teams in the country on the road (while we have two wins over teams directly in the field, the most in the country). You also are gonna have Texas brass/CDC threatening to nix preseason games against elite opponents if we are going to be penalized for it. It may not be enough to get us over the hump but I expect a massive amount of pressure to be placed on the committee, especially if we win convincingly over the sheep fuckers. Should OU or Bama slip up, I expect that we will make the playoffs. Who doesnt want a peaking Texas/Arch Manning going on the road in Round 1 for a ratings bonanza.

Yeah yeah yeah

All I need to know is who do I throw the water bottle at if we win and don't get in?

Terrible loss no doubt, but today’s Florida isn’t the same Florida from early October - or hell, even the one that pushed Georgia earlier this month. They quit after that game so these last handful of games shouldn’t matter when looking at Florida objectively.

Dude, they sucked before they whipped us and they sucked after. We just laid a massive egg and were completely unprepared.

Texas apparently has to go 3-2 vs 5 top 10 teams to make the playoff and have zero slip ups elsewhere.

Meanwhile all Texas Tech has to do is go 2-1 against Utah, BYU and Arizona State and that is good enough to be ranked 7th. All Oregon has to do is split home games against Indiana and USC and is rewarded with a top 10 ranking.

What a great system we have in this sport. OU plays Michigan out of conference and defeats Alabama on the road but gets ranked behind Texas Tech and their impressive non conference schedule of Kent State, Oregon State and Arkansas pine bluff.

G5 shouldnt be guaranteed a spot unless they are actually in the top 12, change my mind.

How shitty and inexplicable was that Florida loss.

Even with the shitty Florida loss, I think we'd have a decent shot of getting in with the 3 losses if we had looked like a good/consistent team most of the year.  We've looked really, really sloppy in a lot of our games.  That gives the committee an out while still saying they didn't ding us for the OSU loss.  Completely shitting the bed in the 2nd half of the GA game with the whole world watching is too recent to forget.  Assuming a convincing win on Friday, I think it will come down to how strong the recency bias is and how much people forget the ugly earlier games.  And we'll still need some help in front of us.  But I'm hopeful the committee is basically going to ignore the OSU loss and compare us to the other 2 loss teams.  If they do, we'll look pretty good from the standpoint of who we beat (including head to head with OU and Vandy).

It's a long shot any way you look at it, but I'd love to see the world go nuts if they put us in with 3 losses.  Just win on Friday and then let the lobbying begin.

True, but that team has quit. A bunch of them are sitting out or hurt. It’s not the same team.

I mean, yeah. Pretty much. We could have stayed in the Big 12 and had an easier path to the playoffs. That is correct.

No one has made the playoffs as a three loss team. It's gonna happen one day. But I don't think we have a particularly strong case to be that team when we lost to a team that fired its coach and has only one other conference win, had to perform a miraculous comeback to win against a team with only one conference win (with that lone win coming against Arkansas who has zero conference wins), and was forced into overtime against a team with only two conference wins.

So yeah, if you're hoping to sneak into the playoffs as a three loss team, you can't have a bad loss like Florida while also looking completely lost for half the year.

You mean in one whole year of playoff history it has never been done? Wow, stop the presses.
