the bolded was definitely not true for Baxter.  His biggest flaw was his poor contact balance and lack of toughness, which led to an inability to break tackles commensurate with his measurables.

Texas will be better at the RB position next year, undoubtedly.  I think it is extremely likely that Texas will be significantly better at RB next year.  I will fondly remember Wisner for what he did, but he was miscast as a lead back and Baxter was a miss.

Contact balance has been an issue for the Texas RB room for 2 years. Baxter had some moments as a freshman, but they were few and far between. Biggest issue for Baxter was the ability to stay healthy. He went out with a slight injury in his first game and it was not the only game.  Felt like he was never a 100%. It could just be bad luck, but it is hard to put faith in a RB that has trouble staying healthy. I hope for him it was just a case a bad luck and he can stay healthy and fulfill his potential at another school.

Jesus Christ our fans sometimes. Losing Wisner is not even close to a disaster. Everyone get a fucking hold of themselves.

I mean, yeah, if it's because of Baugh or some other known quantity RB1, then maybe it's ok.

But if it's for some incoming frosh, or because Wisner is discontent running behind a shit line, well that's something else.

The reporting is that Wisner asked for way, way more money than he's worth.

By the fall, these highlights will be three years old.  I am looking forward to what the weight room has done for him.

Sorry about Wisner, but, it's a brave new world.

Some of yall are stuck in 1995 in your Emmett Smith jerseys wringing your hands over this. Oh no! Not a RB. How ever will we replace his average production.

A million bucks can buy two Wisners. I could get you a Wisner by 3pm.

https://hookemheadlines.com/this-g5-transfer-portal-rb-could-allow-texas-to-pivot-from-uf-s-jadan-baugh-cam-cook-quintrevion-wisner-01kddn2vn50a

Jacksonville State's Cam Cook, who was undoubtedly the best running back at the G5 level and probably a top 5 overall back in all of college football, recently became available.

Despite the rumors swirling about the Longhorns being locked-in on Florida's Jadan Baugh if he enters, Cook could completely cause Steve Sarkisian and Co. to forget about the SEC stud. Cook is much smaller than Baugh at 5'11", 200 lbs., but he has elite athleticism and patience at the line of scrimmage. Very few ball-carriers in football right now show the type of contact balance that Cook does on a consistent basis, which allows him to bounce off would-be tacklers left and right.

Before Jax St he was at TCU and didn’t do much of anything. So did he get better or did the competition get easier. Either way he isn’t a sure thing like most are making him out to be.

I loved Tre. He was an aggy and Sooner assassin.

That said I can also be very honest about why he was an aggy and Sooner assassin. Both of those defenses love to stunt, slant, twist etc (Venables in particular has a hard on for that stuff). Their gap integrity when doing all of that can be poor…particularly when you couple the scheme with very athletically but poorly disciplined free lancers like aggy Howell.

Sark and Tre carved that shit up.

Cooper will be better than Wisner and Baxter.  Good RBs can play as freshmen Mack.

How much does wingo make? If we think rb’s are a dime a dozen then wr’s can’t be that much different.

I happy to point to Wingo's flaws. His hands and route running, but you cannot watch him play and not see his upside. He would be scary, if he ever learned to play WR. He would get picked up immediately in the portal and paid.

This right here. If Tre had an elite talent, it was patience. He was great at finding holes that the defense left open against our zone blocking.

Thats a good trait, but I would still prefer our RB1 to have traits like “speed” and “strength”.

Sad to see him go, but let’s wish him well and find an upgrade.

seeing some top OL transfer in would be a huge relief

Hopefully, the day the portal opens, Sark effectively announces "Today is the day I settle all family business," throws down the gauntlet, and five OL, a badass WR, a badass RB, and a few Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders announce for Texas.

Pretty sure the Dallas cheerleaders possess a couple of qualities that are not required of Texas cheerleaders.

In his limited carries his freshman year before injury it was true. Again, more examples in just a few plays from that video than anything after that. He wasn't elite. But he was good. It is just ridiculous to say otherwise.

His patience and vision are great. He is a very good change of pace and third down back. And his vision let's him punish undisciplined defenses that are overly aggressive. But he isn't a complete enough back to warrant that kind of money. I hope he does well at his next team (unless it is aggy or OU sucks).

Wingo irritates the shit out of me at tines dropping easy passes, but damn if that motherfucker can't make some weirdly acrobatic catches out of nowhere, like that one handed catch in the EZ, or the over the shoulder catch.

I want him back because 1) I'm well acquainted with madness and suffering, and 2) you know he's gonna get better, even if it's just a smidge.
