  2. A spear? Through a door? They just think day care centers have atlatls just laying around?
  3. Burned some more government buildings in Tehran, also government cut internet access down to less than 1% of the populace.
  4. Hollup. There's hard power, and then there's soft power. You're thinking all hard power. You need both. Sure, you've got to have hard power initially as an implicit threat to enforce rules, norms, and such. But over time, you build trust and gain buy-in from others who decide to join your side willingly. And, well shit, then you really prosper through all sorts of creative and productive trade (if managed wisely and fairly). You don't fuck that up by using only hard power, because then you always have to waste resources to keep others in line, and the only "gains" made are through forced exploitation and suffering. You also might lose your soul.
  5. In a major blow to Donald Trump, the Senate voted 52–47 to advance a resolution that would bar the president from taking further military action in Venezuela without congressional approval. Republican Sens. Paul, Hawley, Murkowski, Collins, and Young supported the measure, along with all Democrats.
  6. Oh yeah. This era is making every paranoid anarchist look like a prophet.
  7. I mean I am glad he isn't out there telling us all to eat shit but they have been telling us this stuff for decades. Nobody eats according to what the government recommends. But sure. Sounds fine. I guess the bar is pretty low. Were the previous people out there telling everybody to eat donuts and snort crack every day?
  8. You can dislike or not like Chapelle's POV's, but he's absolutely doing the public intellectual / social commentary stuff and it's awesome. I'm watching George Carlin right now and it's well-scripted, smart, dark social commentary like you said. But it's actually not funny at all.

  10. You talking about Iran or the US?
  11. In another stunning "a broken clock is right twice a day" I actually don't hate RFK's newest announcment on nutrition guidelines pushing more protein and whole foods and less processed food and sugar. Just like his phobia for food dyes and chemicals, this is actually a good thing in a vacuum IMO. Thoughts from resident nutritionists? Adults should consume 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily—50% to 100% higher than previous guidelines—from red meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy, or plant sources. A new “healthy fats” section favors full-fat dairy over low-fat options and recommends cooking with olive oil, butter, or beef tallow. Highly processed carbohydrates like white bread are a big no-no for the first time. Whole grains are recommended, but they’re depicted as the smallest portion of the pyramid. No added sugar until age 10 (up from age 2). Adults should also avoid it and artificial sweeteners, including the aspartame in your Diet Coke. Reactions: The American Medical Association approved, while the American Heart Association raised concerns that the guidelines could lead to overconsumption of sodium, protein, and saturated fats. -- All in all, pretty reasonable!
  12. Or maybe being both a HC and an OC isn’t the way. But now he’s effectively a quasi HC who will only have to deaL with one side of the ball and never ever have to listen to the defensive headset and he can solely focus on his play calling. Muschamp is more than capable of handling shit for defense. I’m convinced he keeps boobs like Harris and Flood around to have a fall guy or two for when his way fails. Always some excuse that isn’t the fact that so far his way don’t work. If Flood and Harris are still here in year 7 and we still haven’t had a semi final win what will the excuse be then? Intelligent fans question what went on behind the scenes this year bc we know it’s more than just X’s and O’s. If sark were laser focused on being a HC we absolutely would have won with Ewers. And again with Arch. As long as he continues to do things his way he will always meet better opponents bc those HC’s are focused on being a HC and the entire team not just their playbook and pawning shit off to a less than competent staff. Now there is so much parity Sark cannot merely out athlete the top P4 teams anymore. He might try looking in the mirror and making some real changes that actually might get him the trophy. But he has like an addict’s personality in my opinion. I don’t mean he’s using I mean he’s got an excuse for everything and there is always someone or something to blame. He’s been given a lot of latitude and a lot of money and results in year six should be expected of him. Unless the ones not expecting us to win it all are braindead.
  13. Dude you really need to spoiler it or post in IPIHB if you're going to post fucked up shit like that in here. I'll give you a warning but next time I'm reporting it to the mods.
  14. I still think the Cristobal Factor weighs in during the championship game. I think he’s a dope.
  15. I was thinking there was a small chance that our Texas QB would start for Miami next year, under McDaniel. Hope the next coach likes Quinn.
  16. remember that guy on shaggy that had multiple cameras in his car and they were all recording to the cloud 24/7 and we all laughed and called him a paranoid nut? He was right, we were wrong.
  17. Yeah, when was the last time Harbaugh coached in a hot as fuch climate? True... his brother is coaching San Diego. But that's like San Francisco weather, compared to Mi-Freaking-Ami. Anyone ever been to SanFran? It's cold AF in the summer.
  18. I'll channel my inner briskettexan here. "Have you not being paying attention the last 100 years? There is NO International law. It never existed! It was just some made up, dressed up shell cover for hard US power. It hasn't been international law stopping China from invading Taiwan all these years it's been the US seventh fleet. Same as it ever was!"
  19. I think in a vacuum it's a flex straight out of the "might is right" era. In much the same way you can disagree with the IDF in Israel, you have to give them credit for their effectiviness. In a lot of ways it's reminding the world that the US is no longer bluffing! No more tweets and finger wagging. Special forces will build an exact replica of your villa, then pants your China-built ‘anti-stealth’ defenses, kill 32 of your crack Cuban bodyguards, and haul you before a New York judge without even suffering a grazed knee. That strength and ability must shake our enemies a little bit you'd think. "It weakens any despot’s perceived security behind sovereignty, raises the costs of defiance, and encourages the next Maduro to just hold elections instead of dancing on TV."
  20. Doesn’t account for it all but twice as many teams (32 vs 13 actually) and twice as many games? Will be more in line with this new cba is expansion teams. Also wnba viewership was 500,000 in 2023 and 650k in 2024 so it’s new growth that, again, has now affected the tv money and will from there affect the salaries. There is an order to these things.
  21. It's sorta like CHIEF up above playing chess: "I don't care if I lose my queen, I'm gonna take that goshdurn pawn!" They just don't think things through.
