Compensation & WFH debate ($120K vs 240K)
956 Worldwide replied to Nice Guy Eddie's topic in Daily Texan
We ran the experiment of “imagine what we could accomplish if we didn’t have to go into the office” and 95 percent of the population chose to bake shitty sourdough, never change out of sweatpants, and get fat while binge-watching Netflix. Spare me the wishcasting of all the amazing things we could do by not going to work and just locking in at home. We are fucking animals and we will choose to consume calories and conserve energy just like other omnivores if given the choice. 100 percent agree that I will assume peiple who demand WFH as their top priority have low ambitions and low desire to learn. I think WFH is an incredibly important flex tool that can be deployed in a time-constrained way but if you’re doing it all the time you’re just a widget. -
So literally the combo Sark and Surly wanted initially now with Gideon much more experienced. Doomed!

It's not like his HC teams had terrible defenses either. He is a good hire. It's very surprising news but if PK was looking for an out, Sark had to move quick to secure a hire. And PK looking for an out seems like the most likely explanation to me, and frankly the only believable one. The idea that this was a straight perfomance thing seems nonsensical. Had to be more to it. Maybe PK, a northwest lifer prior to coming to Texas, is indeed looking at USC and/or Oregon to get back to the west coast footprint. Maybe one of those two was prepared to make a truly $tupid offer he could not refuse or Texas couldn't reasonably match. Maybe Sark was going to can Akina and friction regarding position coach selection reared its head - remember, it was a somewhat awkward fit from the start with Sark hiring assistants (Mike Stoops lol) before a DC, thinking he could get Muschamp. Maybe it's a little of all of it.

This post reflects strong measures of selection and perception bias with your baked in political perspective. And that's OK. I've been in lots of airports from central to east coast over the last few months and can't honestly recall noting an imbalance in political attire. I currently live in probably the trumpiest Austin ex-burb. I previously lived in a decidedly liberal enclave of Austin (there were moms literally balling their eyes out in the elementary school hallway on the morning after the election in 2016). Shocking that there are different distributions of political messaging and signaling in those environments. You see people blowing past social cues in one situation or the other based on your perceptions. It's human nature. Here is an interesting analysis from CATO dated to 2020. Their analysis suggests that extreme liberals are most vocal while moderates and conservatives have been conditioned in the current political environment to keep things closer to the vest. Now, I guess, back to the discussion of ways for liberals to tweak their politically divergent family members at Christmas. https://www.cato.org/survey-reports/poll-62-americans-say-they-have-political-views-theyre-afraid-share

You been talking to my wife again, haven't you?

NYT saying the rental car is the common element between the Brown and MIT shootings:
-
Sark needs a DC to hold UGA and tOSU to 10 points so he can win, might as well try muschamp.
-
Not going through 7 pages of shit so this may have already been brought up, but the Muschamp watch of end of 07/beginning of 08 on Shaggy was epic
-
We need some fresh blood for the OL and ST
-
So where does “Rudy was Offsides” come from? Definitely not offsides.

Sark's O did better with Saban style HC. The issue hasn't been the defense. It's consistently been running game and RZ performance one of which attributes greatly to the lack of possession time, long and therefore bad 3rd down conversion and ultimately leaves the D on the field too long. What to know what Saban’s offense did really well while Sark was OC? I'll give you guesses. It is, in fact, the nail. Address the real issues. OL and offensive play calling.

Just an fyi, there’s two state troopers that live in that shitbox town. And they’ll write their own mother a ticket on her birthday.

2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread

I’m assuming sark is saving flood as the last life raft -
Will muschamp was Sarkisian's original choice. He built his defensive staff with him in mind, but Muschamp's son was about the graduate from HS and Will didn't want to uproot him. This is a fucking coup.

TexArcher started following PK Gone! Muschamp is back!
-
Wait, is Muschamp actually coming back, or are you all talking out of your assholes again?
-
-
We got this guy? Awesome Glenn Schumann was promoted to Defensive Coordinator (Inside Linebackers) prior to the 2022 season and has been calling plays for the Georgia defense since that move.

Did we promise him the HCIW job again?

Kirby basically gave this evaluation of Texas after they beat us this year: This will no longer be the case with a Muschamp defense. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Flood is next on the chopping block.
