  1. Past hour
  2. Actually in the physical book the author has a note basically saying that you aren’t supposed to understand it, it’s just a tool to show how confused Carl and party are. I struggled with that as well but once I stopped paying attention to how the trains worked and just listened to the story it was way better. All the other floors are much more straightforward for the most part
  3. Danny Jansen to Brewers, Nick Fortes to Rays. Watch out, sport!
  4. Randy Yin from China being excited over Cybertruck boxes and that actress hammers home my anecdotal observations on Tesla drivers: 1. Liberal leaning white people (embarrassed, older model, and often have a bumper sticker apologizing). 2. East Asian upper middle class (fewer and fewer of them, they realize it’s embarrassing). 3. Indians working in tech or finance or both or wishing they did. 4. White guy who films videos with sunglasses on (Cybertruck only).
  5. It's actually a lot worse. American taxpayers are kicking in billions ot make it happen, and it's not a plant to make cars, but to make Tesla's chips for cars. I didn't realize Tesla was in the semiconductor industry but of course they are. The Tesla Taylor plant is a significant investment in the semiconductor industry, with a deal worth $16.5 billion to manufacture Tesla's next-generation AI chips. The facility, located in Taylor, Texas, is expected to begin operations in 2026 and will be dedicated to producing the AI6 chip, which will be used across Tesla's product line, including self-driving software, Optimus robots, and data centers. The plant spans 6 million square feet on more than 1,000 acres and is part of Samsung's larger $37 billion investment in Central Texas. The Taylor plant is expected to employ about 2,000 people and has received up to $4.7 billion in federal support under the CHIPS and Science Act. https://www.statesman.com/story/business/2025/07/28/tesla-taps-samsung-in-16-5b-ai-chip-deal-tied-to-new-austin-area-facility/85408748007/
  6. False. Bryson shouting “Those are my titties” in reference to Rory’s chest is on the last 45 minutes and is the greatest line in the movie.
  7. I blame my folks for muckin’ up my surname, leavin’ me with a handle that don’t quite fit. My daddy was a tireless, self-made barbecue pitmaster from Austin with a touch of narcolepsy and a fondness for ropin’ steer. My mama was a sixteen-year-old saloon dancer from San Antonio named Callie with boots that could kick up a dust storm. My daddy would chase skirts, he’d knock back whiskey, and he’d spin tall tales like he invented the lasso. Sometimes he’d call pecans lazy, the kind of low-down grumblin’ only a genius or a madman would mutter. My childhood was pure Texas, summers in the valley, ridin’ broncs. In the spring, we’d craft leather chaps. When I was ornery, they’d stuff me in a feed sack and whack me with mesquite branches—pretty standard, really. At twelve, I got my first Bowie knife. At fourteen, a cowgirl named Wanda ceremonially polished my spurs till they gleamed like a West Texas sunset. Ain’t nothin’ like a pair of shinin’ spurs, it’s downright glorious—y’all gotta try it. still, comin’ up with an avatar and name was never my milieu.
  8. Leprechaun did a number on me when he put his face in the lawnmower
  9. Agreed
  10. Only people who, unlike you, are smart enough to know octopus is not a second declension noun.
  11. That scene where the organ starts playing by itself? Comedy my ass.
  12. Probably worth pointing out that her petition for certiorari, the main brief, was filed April 10. The government delayed responding until July, making that, her REPLY brief due two weeks later, or today.
  13. I read this thread you know I do lol. Sorry I didn’t see it with the 60 diff topics. Lol
  14. As a 7 year old in 1966, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken scared the heck out of me.

What I will give you is the final report of defector for the Tour because yesterday was a damn thing of beauty. https://defector.com/the-tour-de-frances-new-hardcore-paris-finale-was-one-for-the-ages?giftLink=b1c29dafdf8a4e56125828fc0bd513ae
  17. Those far exurbs are still rurals at heart
  18. I didn't think we'd let this kid commit, and I was happy thinking we'd moved on. But now that Browne has reopened a recruitment I never even knew was closed, I'm offended.
