  2. The classroom library approval thing is at least a year old. I know all of our English teachers had to scan every book in their classroom library, the ISBN info, not the entire book obviously. Any books not on approved lists set by the district were removed. It also applied to Science and History as well. Anyone that had any books available for students to use had to put them in the database or remove them
  3. https://www.mta.info/ Yes, train is going to be the best way. Not sure where you are staying, but if you are close to Grand Central, that might be your easiest way out. You can take the 7 to one of the LIRR stations and then get an earlier train than departing the LIRR from Manhattan (based on what I saw, trains start at 6 AM). Download Citymapper. That is the best app once you are here.
  4. Munting? Back in my day, we just called it Tuesday night.
  5. Keens is now owned by Tilman Fertitta. I have not been since he bought it. I have heard good things about La Tete d'Or, which is Daniel Boulud's steakhouse. Hawksmoor, a London import, is very good. Their Sunday roast is outstanding. 4 Charles Prime Rib has been on my list. It is almost impossible to get a table. That being said, the same folks took over Monkey Bar, so that is also a possibility. Delmonico's is on my list since they reopened. The Grill, Gallaghers, Gage & Tollner, and St. Anselm are all good possibilities as well.
  6. Welp, Surly brothers and sisters, this is one of those mile marker and signpost passings, makes me think of mortality, of aging. I, for one, am growing tired of being reminded. Grampaw Lllama made it to 89, which seemed ancient to me then. Redford did things with style and flair and confidence, elevating every project he touched. As someone posted above, if you see that a Redford film is on, you’ll probably watch it and enjoy the fuck out of it. If only our teams’ corches could coach as well as that dude could act!
  7. Fun times.
  8. Not just here. I met a couple from Ukraine a few days ago that were relocated to the San Francisco area. This is more a worldwide thing. Seeing people displaced by war and knowing what they are going through, among other things, made that movie too hard to watch. Again, it doesn't mean it's not good. I just couldn't stay to see all of it. Sometimes a movie just triggers something inside to where I just leave. This was one of those. Not the first time it's happened on a movie over the years.

  11. The Call - one of the most underrated bands of the 80’s. And I had chicken alfredo for dinner.
  12. Got this text from DIL regarding our kindergarten granddaughter’s school… fun times ahead.
  13. The US House voted to empower the Pentagon to use mercenaries inside the US borders. https://www.levernews.com/defense-bill-opens-door-to-guns-for-hire-at-the-border/
  14. The guy from the Twilight Zone.
  15. X, 1, 2, X, X
  16. This greasy, slimy, felonious, sociopathic piece of shit who is your guy and a pillar of your political community also thinks the official story, including the text messages, is bullshit. https://dnyuz.com/2025/09/16/steve-bannon-not-buying-charlie-kirk-shooting-suspects-text-messages/ Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon has expressed skepticism over the text messages allegedly sent by Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer to his roommate, telling viewers of his War Room podcast that he’s “not buying the script.” “I’m particularly not buying those text messages, it just seems too stilted, too much like a script—actually, like a bad script. So we gotta get to the bottom of it,” Bannon told his viewers. “You’ve gotta get to the bottom of these groups, you’ve gotta get to the bottom of antifa, you’ve gotta see if there’s any connections to Butler,” he continued. “We’ve got a whole lot of work to do, and no, I’m not buying the script that was in the text messages.” Bannon also didn’t believe that Robinson’s primary concern in the immediate aftermath of the shooting was misplacing his grandfather’s rifle. “You just murdered the most important young person in the conservative movement, you shot him down like a dog, and you’re telling me you’re texting, ‘Dad’s going to be very upset I lost grandpa’s rifle.‘ Are you kidding me? You expect me to believe that?”
  17. Don't forget The Last Castle. 2 excellent prison movies about fuck the man.
  18. Got both Covid and Flu shot Friday will get pneumonia shot on Thursday.
  19. get a grip, man!
  20. May not be 20 seconds, but it's a hell of a lot less than 2 minutes unless Bowles uses all his timeouts, which I don't think he would do if he only needs a FG to win. The mistake in your sequence is that the 2 minute warning would actually hit BEFORE the first and goal snap if Chubb went down in bounds.

  22. Wound up with Wentz & Jones. Unfortunately no one else bid on Wentz, so wasted a bunch of $.
