  1. Past hour
  2. it doesn't seem vague to me...they are all crying. why would they be crying if they were just playing/finishing a D&D game.
  3. Yes, by Latin American standards, and relative to it's neighbors, Venezuela was stable and prosperous democracy. Why is that hard to accept?
  4. My buddy’s wife, but I need help. She asked to take a picture of the group while we were out at a brewery today. I took two and she said she didn’t like them. I told her she looked fine and I was done taking pictures and she could take one on her phone if she wanted. Tone was not appreciated. These were pictures that would only possibly end up going to our group, not posting on instagram or anything. Why am I the asshole here?
  5. Interesting word salad.
  6. Linguistically, it does make a difference to be polite. I know it sounds silly, but the way that tokenization and feature extraction work with a natural language sentence, it can shift the direction and magnitude of the vector that makes up the query. Insofar as the language and information it will access to reply to you will lie closely to that query vector. So if you ask like a jerk it's likely to respond a little defensively because that tends to be the pattern in the natural language that it was trained on. At least, that's the abstracted idea of what's happening inside an LLM. I think the weird televangelism level of faith in genAI is awful and embarrassing, but your buddies aren't totally wrong in terms of how to more effectively use an LLM.
  7. Ah yes, the well known stability of *checks notes* Latin American democracy

  9. 5th volleyball
  10. Not sure we win that game even with Wemby back. It's the same damn problems over and over
  11. Do you work at CNN? The Times?
  12. Lol at any one talking about democracy in this exchange.
  13. Can we all just hit it with infinite prompts telling it to kill itself? Because I’m pretty sure someone can write us up a loop program of that prompt pretty easily.
  14. 😂😂😂😂
  15. I think this will be a story in the next few days. No plan at all.
  16. The trail is fine and ChickenSandwich is clearly full of shit, afraid of his own shadow, and clearly never uses it. I'm on it multiple times per week sometime 5:30-7:00a.m. and other times after work well past the 5:30p.m. timeframe he cites as being so unsafe. We had this same conversation on this thread 6-9 months ago. When asked for receipts he had none for this supposed "after 5:30" Thunderdome version of the trail he rants about. It's super fucking laughable.
  17. Livingstone got more than his fair share of red zone targets (and corresponding TDs) early in the season, when the joke was that only white guys were allowed to score TDs. That is also the part of the season when we sucked the most. He made some good catches, to be sure, even after the Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi State games. But if Bobby is right about a mid-six NIL being on the table, that's more or less the most I'd be willing to pay. I don't believe he will develop or produce more than what we'd already seen. It's really the Wisner thing all over again. Is Livingstone's agent anyone with a respectable reputation? I don't believe you'd walk away from the spillover perks of being Arch Manning's roommate unless you're being told (wrongly) that you're leaving serious money on the table by taking a mid-six offer.
  18. No, of course not. Why would he do that? No way...
  19. I don't think they feel the need to build any public support for anything, anymore. They know, and it's a fact, that at least 40- 45% of the people who actually participate in our political system will support absolutely any outrageous bullshit Trumpco dishes out because there is always a justification that's both simple-minded and irrationally aggressive that's enough for the mindless to parrot. The few resisters on the right will get run over with the usual "do you support America or are you a traitor" type bullying. It's over. We all said that Nov. '24 was the test of democracy. It was. "We" lost. Short of means that few of us want to realistically contemplate, the sane among us, including the minority party, are in a position of learned helplessness now despite being technically in the majority numbers-wise. Wish I weren't so pessimistic.
  20. This is kind of sunk cost fallacy. Miller needs to prove he can coach here before anyone is going to open up the checkbook for him.
  21. It's all so obvious and farcical that it's difficult to parody. Stewart is brilliant. I'm sure this is good, but I'm OD'd on absurdity from real life; I don't even feel like watching it.
