  1. Past hour
  2. We’ll never agree that it’s a genocide. But I do respect your passion on the subject, so we have that going for us.
  3. That's the perfect way to say what I was saying earlier. And Trump yells his money (while he's leveraged to the hilt).
  4. You idiots may be confusing what TxDOT is doing with what the City of Austin is doing. CapEx Central Schematic University Segment_080625
  5. Fuck this - Maldy isn’t the perfect anything anymore. He sucks at hitting. His defense is atrocious. His magic power was supposedly preparation and game planning but it didn’t actually reduce anyone’s ERA when compared to the other Astros catchers.
  6. Also, my cousins went to St. John’s with Wes Anderson. I still haven’t gotten them to admit that he’s an actual vampire.
  7. You understand it is bullshit to go back in the early days of a recruiting thread with a volatile recruit and call people out on it, right? In any event, I led the charge in doubting Blue repeatedly through his time on campus at Texas. The guy quit on his HS team, they voted not to take him back, bitched about playing time as a true freshman behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, tried to quit, later tried to portal, had massive fumbling issues, never fully made it as a starter and still somehow came through the other side as a draft pick. Zach Evans also got drafted. Elite talent can cause a lot of other sins to be forgiven. Here's hoping he works his ass off and takes a different path than Evans and wins big contracts and prizes in the league. I'm cheering for him like I am every longhorn in the NFL because it certainly helps the program. I'm still in awe that the dude pulled it all off for himself. Also, if there were another guy coming through with all of the same red flags as Blue, I'd still be playing the overwhelming odds that he wouldn't be a take or would bust out. See: Evans, Zach; Hampton, Aeryn; or Alexander, Bear.
  8. Spent a lot of time in the Rice Village area as a kid because my cousins lived on Bolsover just off Greenbriar. All these years later, my daughter lives in that area. She and her family can walk to everything they need except a big grocery store. And she hates dealing with the crowds at Whole Paycheck or HEB so she has her groceries delivered. Staying at her place is great. Hey, let’s go get Asian/Seafood/burgers/Indian/Israeli bakery food! No problem. It’s 3-4 block to all of it. So many good food options in Houston. She likes several places down along Hillcroft.
  9. He’ll be a good qb with bad games here and there like the rest of college QBs. But please cut down on turnovers from the qb position from last year and we’re golden. Without random tip interceptions keeping teams in it we would have had a few more blowouts last year.
  10. Here's a great summary of just some of the places. Don't get me wrong, I hate Houston but don't disparage the art scene in Houston. It's world class. https://www.travelandleisure.com/culture-design/visual-arts/houston-art-museums-kinder-menil-turrell-rothko
  11. If it ain’t fusion, vast majority of Asian food in Austin is just fine or downright mediocre. With the exception of in my opinion of sushi omakases.

  13. It's rather amazing what they've done to the depth chart at DT since the end of last season. Basically, we had Alex January coming off a promising true freshman year and nothing else. Now they have a legit three deep of guys with different skillsets they can mix and match. That would have been impossible in the pre-portal days.
  14. The Menil has one of the best collections of modern art that most museums would kill for. Also the surrounding area has some amazing galleries which showcase current artists and their works. If you area only going to the MFA, you are missing out on a ton of other great art.
  15. CJ Vogel with a recruiting update today. Someone can put the 2027 part in that thread if they give a shit.
  16. You're moving the goalposts too. There's a fuck ton to DO, but it's hard to match it up compared to a Boston or New York or Chicago to warrant a VISIT over other places. There's plenty of shit TO DO. And that works for Locals. Less so for people to visit to have to drive 30 minutes everywhere to see the Next Thing. Being an attractive Tourist Destination isn't the same thing as THINGS TO DO. Austin has great food, but I'm not sure they're going to be able to take the crown from Houston as long as our Vietnamese and Indian continue to really be huge and vibrant on the food front. But that's just IMO.
  17. no yordan this year = more caratini and diaz hitting dh / playing first. maldy is the perfect 3rd catcher for 3 months
  18. Man Ive heard some stuff I really like that are from lesser known brands. I think a few things are in play: 1. Newish companies innovating 2. Production costs decreasing due to new tech or materials 3. Realization that spend for legacy brands was heavy on the name alone Zildjian Sabian and Paiste were the gold standard for years. They make great stuff and charge great prices. Some of the newer brands sound just as good but charge far less, depending on series of course. Then, what do your ears like? That Instanbul stuff sounds great for the price point. I mean studio engineers probably want specific weights and things but the crowd at continental club won’t be able to tell a 200g ride from a 222g ride. I like the Paiste stuff but I have a ton of it too. If I was buying new gear I’d look at all the brands - fuck the name.
  19. Oh big time QB mobility, a deeper RB stable and way better long ball threat absolutely alters things dramatically. It's only logical to conclude that there might be pocket issues with the youth at OL early. Which is why @Florida concerns me more than any game prior to Georgia.
  20. The fact that we need to argue about whether there is/isnt anything to do in houston kinda answers the question. The museums are good but there are only two i would consider best in the state: mfah and natural science. The rest are either mid or are super niche to the point of lacking critical mass for acclaim or tourism. The food scene is fantastic though, but austin coming quickly for that crown
