Do you know Chet Weber? I think his dad had a construction company there in the 1960s. Chet attended St. Edward’s in Austin before transferring to UT in 1966.

We will end up with neither

I wonder if the Blacks working the cotton fields were working their family's farm by choice with expectation the work would end. Did your uncle have the option of raping or beating or killing you or whatever whim swept him up at the moment? Did your cornball, sanctimoniously calloused hands look like this? Fuck you for making the comparison and for being obtuse enough to think that cotton's connection to racism is the absurd notion that white people never physically picked cotton. I doubt that the throwing of cotton at a football game is particularly offensive to Black persons, but that's not for me to determine. If it is, I wouldn't do it. If I suspected it was, I wouldn't do it. Your uncle should have sat you on his knee to explain that needlessly offending people is a bad thing perpetrated by dickheads. I look forward to your future findings about the many silly notions of racism.

I don't know anything about this or who this is even from but it's brilliant.

Fuck that. Before covid 23 states had laws against wearing a mask in public spaces.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
Eskimohorn replied to Nueces River Rat's topic in Football
3rd and PK? Nah. Sark is Mr 3 and Out. PK’s defenses got beat when his defenses wore down from being under pressure so much when they had to save our ass. We usually did a good job of containing scrambling QBs and obliterated Mateer and Reed. Better than most Ds. The misalignment of the backend is obviously related to Akina, who was a really bad hire, in addition to the two other secondary coaches. Why 3? because reasons. PK was the best coach on the team and we fired his ass. Hope he heads back to the west coast. Dont want him beating the shit out of Sarks frontrunner offense. -

If everyone was expecting it, it would have never worked. It was drastically different than the Orlando call. One was terrible, the other overly criticized. -

Supposedly still looking for another “playoff caliber” pitcher. Guess as insurance for injuries and if Strider never gets back to form.

I’d take the doubled salary in an instant. I can do my job anywhere and if they wanted it done in an office - fine. I’ve hung Do Not Disturb signs on my cube back when I worked in an office. That plus head phones and people generally left me alone. And extra $100k saved and invested is $1.3M to $1.5M over 10 years. If you are able - you take the office job and have a legit opportunity to FIRE.

Having seen a parade of these grousing types for decades - that is, utterly mediocre white males, of which there are metric shitton (just as - spoiler - there are among EVERY demo) - this is utterly unsurprising. Because one thing they very much lack is self awareness. They aren’t actually mad that people with greater merit are being bypassed. They’re mad that people with no special merit have lost their built-in, systemic advantages. Mediocre Mike used to have a pretty easy path to prosperity. Maybe it included a legacy admission to a university. He got to network with people his dad did business with. Connections got him a job among other similar and like-minded white men. He drew a nice income, and coasted along, with moderate effort. Mediocre Mike is not being “disadvantaged” by a system that says “maybe we shouldn’t just hire folks who know and grew up with people who work here; maybe we should interview candidates at Prairie View and UTEP.” He’s just lost his advantages and privileges. “When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.” It’s not complicated. And watching this reflexive counter-movement that is purposefully elevating and rewarding obviously mediocre white men makes the truth that much more stark. “No more DEI!” means, in actual operation, “hire/advance/admit as many white dudes as you can, without much consideration of competence.” In short, it’s everything they accuse “DEI” of being (which, of course, it’s not). Dumbest. Timeline. We are practically building monuments to Mediocre Mikes and Incompetent Ikes nationwide, and trust me, we look like fucking idiots.

It’s actually amazing that the right has made DEI such an enemy that a politician can run that he will be the most effective RR commissioner because he will root out DEI spending. Hats off to them in a perverse way. perhaps Venezuela will soon be made the #1 enemy to replace DEI.

Aggy will be out of the stands by the Q4 , they are going to get rolled.

You’re looking at last year’s receiving numbers for Baugh. This season he had 33 catches for 210 yards.
-
The radio guys the other day were talking about Paredes being traded instead of Walker because we could actually get something for Paredes. But they said it was because the lineup just can't fit all of these guys and it just doesn't work. I'm curious if they even watched any of the games last season and if they are aware we had 28 guys hit the IR. Assuming everyone is healthy at the same time (lulz) Isaac, Correa, Yordan, and 'Tuve can all rotate at the DH to make it work.... and they'll have to do this for like 5 minutes until someone inevitably gets injured again.

We need to make killing nazis a thing again.

Then I suggest a thread title change to “CDC is losing me”. Also if CDC is the one limiting our budget to go after players whether they are recruits or portal it is news to me.

I went to the SMU-Miami game this year. UM had a sizeable crowd. And to a person, they reminded me of NFL goon fans. A few rows in front of me was this guy. Yes, you are seeing that correctly...he's wearing UM wide receiver gloves. He was, without a doubt, one of the most absurd fans I think I've ever encountered. 50 something years old and he was acting like a dumbass teenager the whole game. Total douche, gloves and all. And yet, I hope he is Collie Station tomorrow, and I hope his team obliterates aggy.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
JBJ replied to Nueces River Rat's topic in Football
I would disagree that Muschamp will be more physical defense than a PK or tell his players to take dumb risks, and it's not what I meant by a "more complex defense with more aggression." I think coverage is actually more telling for overall complexity, because it causes more ripples across a defense. -

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
Yev Kassem replied to Nueces River Rat's topic in Football
To preface, I’m glad Muschamp is back in Austin and I think our front seven will greatly benefit from a more aggressive style. But all this talk that PK’s “bend-but-don’t-break” somehow kept the offense from flourishing is pure madness. Flourishing from what? More three and outs? False starts? Drops? We spent two thirds of the season watching our offense be completely inept and it was the defense that had to bail us out time and time again. Maybe having to play 80 snaps back to back weeks on the road to beat SEC bottom feeders in OT played a part in how the defense broke down at the end of the season? My main problem with this year’s defense was that we didn’t force nearly as many turnovers, but that can always be kind of a fluky stat. It didn’t necessarily turn into giving up a ton more points as we still were among the leaders in that stat. I think Muschamp’s more aggressive style should hopefully force more turnovers in the future. I’m willing to believe that Sark jumped at an opportunity to make one side of the ball better. Hopefully after the bowl game he’s as willing to jump at the same chance on his side of the ball.
