Well, I don't know what I was expecting when I decided to visit this thread this afternoon, but based on some conversations I'd had earlier, it certainly wasn't this absurdity. I debated just clicking out, but fuck it, I like being contrarian. It will be interesting to see how it sorts itself out. Texas feels good about: Dorbah Rogers Collins Johnston Washington Robinson Thompson Jr Obviously they're apparently alone in the belief that they will land Robinson based on today's updates from steadfast recruiting wizards Jason Suchomel and Mike Farrell. I'm fairly certain the stuff I relay here has a far higher hit rate than Suchomel over the past decade+. This is that lazy fuck's first time to meet many of these guys. Anyway, the issue remains that at some point, Robinson has to pick up the phone and commit to his position coach somewhere. If that happens with Drayton, it will be the first time he's gotten one of those calls while at Texas. They like where they stand with Broughton as well. No one has a clue what is happening with LB besides the Scott kid out of DFW and the ongoing (futile, IMO) pursuit of White. Umanlymainlyman is a who knows? recruitment, which doesn't sound good. Ty Jordan is back in favor of being TB2. If the sequence was Lindberg then Karic, Texas could take 5. If that is inverted, they take 4, and if they can only land one, they probably stop at 4. Heard nothing about Utah, Missouri or Kentucky DLs, and asked. They'll stay on Mookie. Bloodlines could matter all of the sudden again. They like where they stand with Wilson, but it's a long hustle. Unless something cool pops up in the fall, not sure there's going to be a TE in this class. Something could pop up at LB as well. The Bleacher Report, from Matt Hayes of all people, will be shown to every recruit that considers ATM over the next few years, and folks familiar with Fisher don't really see much at this point to think he's on some sort of other trend at ATM than what he did at FSU after Winston. I'll post on the FB board about what the buzz is on the current roster including the new freshmen. Sorry for partying? I think plenty here know I'm no sunshine pumper. Now I'm interested to see if Suchomel and crew are actually closer to the truth than anyone else or ... not.46 points

Here are a few things that will be worth keeping your eye on, for veracity's sake. I found it all pretty encouraging. On the testing and early workout info for the guys that just got to campus: -Liebrock is a really well-developed prospect from a quality program. His HC actually just got snapped up by ASU for their staff, I believe. This guy might be able to contribute this year. -Jake Smith is not over-hyped, at least from the testing and workout POV. He's one of the quickest and fastest guys on the team already. -If Owens can actually play football, he'll be amazeballs at Texas. His testing numbers are comparable to Smith's, and he's got like 3-5 inches in height and 30-40 pounds in weight over Smith. -Watson looks great and will challenge to be a 2nd string back-up. -Hookfin came in at almost 310 and it was good weight. -To that last point, Shepherd is looking good and engaged early. If he stays committed to his future, he could be a really big deal. -McKnight loves working with Gbenda. He's an extremely hard worker. Regarding non-freshmen: -Braun could legitimately redshirt. It's mostly a matter of whether he wants to do so or not. Texas will be fine with him either way. -The depth of talent is as high at UT right now as it has been since the late-2000s. That will continue to improve as new, highly ranked recruiting class keep showing up. -Texas expects to be in a fight to make the playoffs in 2019.19 points

No they don’t. They are the largest generation in American history and got absolutely boned in every measurable economic indicator. They are the -first- generation to lose jobs, homes, and be denied the opportunity to accrue wealth to the benefit of their own parents. Why shouldn’t they promote themselves? Nobody else will. Most of the war fighters I know are millennials. Most of the volunteers I know are millennials. The people I see testifying for homeless shelters and housing for renters are millennials. They’ve made more sacrifices for their parents mistakes than any generation since the people who fought World War II, and if this country can ever be made great again it will be them and Gen Z who save it, by remaking it in their own image.18 points

You can’t just roll into a thread like this and drop a nugget like that without: 1. Pics (because we know you have them and don’t give us some bullshit that you dont) 2. More goddamn stories. Look, most of us are gainfully employed, but if you think for one fucking second we can’t take time out of our day to read about this nasty bitch playing a rusty trombone, you sir are very wrong.8 points

Mack could have gone out with some class. But he didn't. He burned virtually all of Strong's in-homes with our top recruits, actively telling them to look elsewhere, left the state to avoid getting fired, and made the final bowl game all about him, and we got crushed. That's in addition to completely running the program into the ground due to laziness and his need to control the narrative to flatter his strikingly weak ego. It destroyed any legacy he earned here. Fuck. Mack. Brown.8 points

I'm sure your buddy was "thrilled" about Martin Jr being named as baseball coach... My FIL played for FSU in the mid 60s. I met the wife in Tallahassee in 1997 when she was a senior and I was a 1L. Her dad gave me shit for being a UT grad but he gives everyone shit. He has a lot of friends in the athletic department and basically Jimbo was allowed to run that place roughshod. The old AD, Wilcox, was basically a wimp who wouldn't stand up to Jimbo. If he did, Jimbo would run around him to Thrasher. The number of tantrums that Jimbo Fisher threw over the smallest things are legendary in the Moore Center. Throwing shit at people and acting like a complete redneck when he didn't feel like he was in control. He bitched about getting an indoor practice facility and when it finally got put in motion, Jimbo couldn't be bothered to show up to the groundbreaking. A law school buddy also did undergrad at FSU and contributes quite a bit to the program. He won a hunting trip with Jimbo several years ago. Jimbo acted like it was a bother for him to be there. This was at the height of Hugh Freeze's run at Ole Miss and my buddy said Jimbo said some really nasty things about Freeze. Said his fake Christian act was "complete bullshit". People like to point the finger at Candi for their divorce but when it became public in Tallahassee that she had been running around on him, the quiet comments on that were "Guess Candi was getting him back". Wouldn't surprise me if that unnamed assistant making comments in the article was Randy Sanders. He was going to leave after the 2017 season whether Jimbo stayed or not. He despised Jimbo. Jeremy Pruitt hated/hates Fisher's guts. FSU matched UGA's offer but Pruitt hated working for Jimbo that much. Jimbo went apeshit on Mark Stoops after a game in 2012 and Mark bolted the next season. Fisher has burned bridges with a shit load of assistants so it could be anyone who made those comments.8 points

I think the NCAA football video games were the most realistic football related games ever made. When you would recruit you had to choose a pitch and then see how the prospect reacted to it. Apparently we should have selected the "go fishing" option for Broughton, because from what I hear he fucking loves fishing more than anything and as soon as Jimbo gave him a rod and some worms he was going to be an Aggie. Rumor was that Giles was planning on taking Broughton deep sea fishing, but due to some comical mishaps that I won't recount here the boat sunk and Giles ended up on an island with a volleyball that was his only friend until Arkansas offered and then the volleyball left.7 points

Don’t get me wrong, if we miss on all of Robinson, Broughton, Washington, and Ransom I’ll be happy to contribute to this shitfest, but why are we acting like a Suchomel update and a Perroni CB have any meaning whatsoever?7 points

Please this forum takes no news as bad news. This is going to be terrible. The next three weeks will be endless bleating about the recruiting ability of Giles, Orlando, Warehime, and Meh. There will be some discussion as to how the coaching aptitude of the first two make them worth keeping with the latter being a major plus despite his recruiting flaws. There will be calls for coaches being fired. There will be complaints about FWK and 7v7 and god knows what else. This will all be without the good news that sometimes breaks up this beating of a thread while we're in a decent place.7 points

This right fucking here. Jesus H. Christ...we spend half of the posts on this forum lambasting the 9.95ers for their dipshittery, then react like it is some sort of scripture when a couple of "crystal balls" come in against Texas? Fuck those clowns. They know nothing. You are all better than they are.5 points

On Thursday my wife tried to mow our backyard ( A for effort). She got halfway through and said the mower stopped. As a fix, she added oil to it. "Why?" I asked. "I dunno." She still couldn't start it. Fast forward to today (Saturday). I pull the mower out and check the oil. It's several inches above the fill line. I show her. Her: Oh, I get it. Sorry. By the way, that small red jug next to the big gas tank is the oil that's supposed to go in the mower, right? Me: That's the gas for the leaf blower...FML. Her: Well, maybe you should label it. Me (showing the small red gas tank to my 8 year old daughter: What's that say, sweetie? Daughter: gas-o-line5 points
