  1. This sucks. And to be honest, I don't get it. I mean, I get it for Zina. He's been patient, he's shown flashes in limited time, and we go out and chase an Edge in the portal, which is the LAST position we need. We need a fucking QB more than we need another edge. And here we have a relatively cheap player who we have developed, ready to take the next step, and we go after portal guys. At some point, fuck, play the guys you've recruited and developed who seem fucking good.
  2. I'm amused reading this thread right now. I told you guys less than a month ago that Texas was going to see somewhere between 20-25 guys enter the portal. I said they'd try to reload and add something near that range through it as well. A lot of pushback was made on the 25 exits as way too high. Now it might be too low by 5-8. I should go visit the roster thread on the football forum for similar humor. @Wulaw Horn was at least one, I believe, who thought the numbers were off. Maybe I am misremembering but it was at least a few of the regulars. You guys need to embrace all of this. We are witnessing the ground shifting underneath the entire industry's feet in real time. It's extremely rare to be able to live within this kind of chaos as groups rationalize and process and react. I enjoyed being in the middle of the dawn of NIL and predicting its future while most poo-poo'd or sat idly by and we benefitted from embracing it at the time. I feel like this is a new reset, and it's awesome watching all of the blue bloods shit themselves and industry pundits and coaches trying to process it all. One thing that seems certain now, and I didn't even consider this 2 weeks ago, is that the rules for recruiting have changed fundamentally. The guys that will get money will be the guys viewed as truly "can't miss" and even that is going to be tempered compared to the past 4 cycles. Then there will be work done regarding plenty of guys that can't demand any money, but could be developed into talent. I did discuss this about the last 6+ guys added to the 2026 class. They didn't cost anything. I guess a new takeaway with those guys is that, when some of them do start to really develop and fight for PT, staffs are going to have to be really careful about playing them. Beyond that, there's not a lot of room in between. Ffrench got paid $500k+ to come in and disappoint from day one. That is money lit on fire. He's one of many. If you sign guys for that, you'd better fucking play them. I think we're going to see a lot of Bishop, Atkinson and Cooper this fall, for better and worse. When the portal guarantees a reopening of any player's recruitment, the management focus and vast majority of dollars will be concentrated there every cycle. Some bad ass recruit wants $1M? Let him go to Tech or Oregon and either develop or don't. If he does, compete for him when he's ready to play. Rinse and repeat. This also blows up any semblance of the bag game. Agents are taking care of that as they try to bleed every team for every last cent.
  3. He may not want to leave his area of the country, but it's obvious that he has real representation and they know what they're doing. He's played it perfectly, including having his eyes opened by Cody Campbell's absurdity and how it resets the market for his services. I don't hate Wisner. I feel bad for the guy, and I liked him as a player. I think he got fucked by a bad agent, and some hurt feelings. Now, Parker Livingstone can get fucked. I hope we break multiple bones in his body next season and he finishes the rest of his life as a cripple working at a roadside gator farm, as was intended.
  4. great nicole is here, this thread keeps getting better
  5. I watched his bowl game performance, I was also not happy.
  6. I'm not getting into Burton's relationships with anyone on the Texas staff. That said, he's a smart guy in an information business. Running over the Texas program and its staff repeatedly probably isn't helpful for what he's building. As to wondering if I'm listening, don't. I don't listen to their stuff for many reasons, but mainly because that's not my media of preference. I read their stuff more or less each day, however. Bizarre post in the way you hedge some things that we know are occurring or have occurred, and then take a face value other shit that hasn't been confirmed anywhere. -Cam Coleman - Texas is 100% not the highest bidder and it isn't close. I guess you'd need to physically see the offer sheets to believe it? -Richardson - Texas does not believe that he and his agent are serious and his agent has used Texas in a non-serious way before. They leaked visiting Texas to the media before Texas had spoken to the guy, allegedly. -Zion Williams and Miami guy play different spots, with ZW being a NT and the other being a 3, I think. If ZW doesn't announce for Texas today, I'll be both surprised and dismayed. That one was done before he finished his paperwork. The Miami dude is making like 4 more visits, so if he leaves without shutting it down, I assume we can write him off. -The Okie State guy thinks he's worth about 5x what Texas or likely anyone would pay him. I have zero expectations that they'll talk him down, but, hey, they're bringing him in, so we'll see. -There's no "smoke" trying to retain Barnes. Muschamp is being forced to actively recruit the guy back to the team and that might not be enough. When Harris offered the guy new terms, he basically told him they were bringing in other guys more valuable than him and his snaps in 2026 wouldn't look any different than this year. Bear in mind, Muschamp never said that. Nansen never said that. It's become evident to Muschamp that Texas is being shockingly mismanaged. I don't know why he's surprised. He worked there before. There's always some massive and inexplicable dysfunction happening inside that organization. -It's not certain that Texas and Black are parting ways. There's a lot of risk there, but they'd prefer to keep him. They're just not guaranteeing a starting spot. This is true for multiple players still unsigned right now. -Texas still wants, and believe they lead for, the FSU Safety.
  7. You can blame Harris directly for having several meetings in which he is the only staff representation and he walked out thinking the player was good to go, and the player walked out thinking they’d been given an exit interview and then submitted paperwork for the portal. A recent example is Bo Barnes. Plenty of others. I have met with and spoken to Harris directly. He is an unimpressive buffoon who thinks he’s really smart. He’s not well-liked among players or staff and he’s at Texas because he’s zero threat to Sarkisian’s agenda except when accidentally and actively fucking it up. When people on this board, usually after signing periods and portal periods when the dust settles and Texas has done well, rush to give Harris praise and passive aggressively make comments about doubters and haters questioning him or Sarkisian, all they’re doing is telling the rest of us that they are know-nothing dunces. And yes, Sarkisian was happy to see Glasscock go and he’s become one of the best in the entire country. Kiffin, asshole and sociopath that he is, doesn’t give one shit about being questioned by his staff. The right answer wins for him, that’s it. I expect him to do well at LSU accordingly.
  8. We're not even in their conference anymore, and we're still their boogeyman. Nevermind Texas didn't invent the fucking portal, and plenty of other folks pay for NIL. Losers. For what it's worth, the staff had already labeled Ffrench as an evaluation bust, and a bad investment. This is likely them happily cutting bait. No one should cry over this one.
  9. Reads like he’s conceding that the Aggies won’t get him and expects Tech so he’s trying to frame it as specifically an L for us.
  10. Can't let this one go. An American citizen was murdered on video by Trump's Gestapo, and the administration and his bootlickers are trying to gaslight the nation. It's all over if this becomes yesterday's news. There have been thousands of line in the sand moments already. This one needs to stick. I'm going to hold my friends and family accountable for their "opinion" on this incident. Enough.
  11. All of you acting like this rule is anything more than lip service are the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet. Jesus Christ people - you think this rule applies to anyone that matters? On offense or defense? To Arch? To Colin Simmons? For fucks sake it was uttered at a time when the portal was brand new and completely different. God damn.
  12. IT said Zina agreed to a deal a few weeks ago then the agent recently came back asking for 4x the amount and Texas told them to kick rocks.
  13. I look at someone like Wisner asking for an insane amount from Texas and then taking only 60% of it to go play at FSU instead of Texas. Throwing away relationships and good will and fans who loved you because you got greedy and then you went on the market and nobody wanted to pay you what you wanted. And now basically Longhorn fans think he's an asshole and hate him. Personal stuff to attend to:
  14. My goodness. Some of the posters here need to grow some balls. The constant doom and gloom is nauseating. Texas just landed one of the best RBs in the portal and here we are bitching, still. Bunch of pussies in here complaining about losing two OL that stayed at their own school bc they like it there after we just whipped their ass a week ago with 7 starters missing on defense. Same OL that couldn't run the ball against ou, the same ou team our shitty OL punked. Stop with the constant complaining. You idiots realize there are more than just 1-2 good players in college football right? The Louisville guy that CTJ didn't even want never entered the portal, so we go get another stud in Raleek Brown. If Sprague wants to stay at UM and turn down 1.6 mil... well guess what... we'll tamper another very good OL that will take the 1.6 mil. If Baugh wants to stay at Florida, well there will be another badass RB that will take that offer. We were 1 Florida loss with some mediocre players from making the CFP. We don't need the number 1 guy at every position to win it all. We simply need upgrades which we will get.... some of whom are at the top of the portal rankings like Mascoe and Brown. More guys are going to show up, more guys are going to enter the portal. We're going to win some and we're going to lose some. At the end of it, we'll likely have one of the best portal classes and you stupid fat fucks will still be crying while jerking off to Michael Dell's tranny wife.
  15. Have we really descended so far into denial that they want us to believe college kids - even football players making 6 and 7 figures - do not care about half a million dollars? yikes - OTF is really struggling.
  16. Allegrio supposedly makes his decision today. Ohio State feels really good about it. Brown is on campus and could announce something today if it is good news. Bad news would be heading home "with a lot to think about". Ulauvoavoau is on campus today, expect Texas to give him "a lot to think about". New OL targets will be announced and discussed right here! Bo Jackson may enter the portal, leaving Ohio State. He wants a big new deal and they're balking. Sound familiar? That dude is better than Clark, Wisner, whomever at Texas other than potentially Cooper. Everyone is going through this near the top of the sport. There are a bunch of good Safeties out there, so traction there might be a thing. I'm sure Cam Coleman "has a lot to think about" with Tech allegedly offering to double the Texas number. I'm writing him off. Anywho ...
  17. I am not infallible by any means, but when you hear the same numbers from the same people, unrelated, it seems pretty likely it's accurate. Texas has been the high water mark on some, lower on others, but has been competitive in all. With the Michigan OT we were at 1.6M, he signed for 900k with Michigan, and we actually were not the high bid an unexpected SEC school was at 2M. The Wisconsin LB is the first we have lost that didn't return to the incumbent school, I don't have numbers on that one yet. If you were making 100k, got offered 200k to move across the country to be in a completely new situation then your current job says "hey we can't match but we can give you a bump to 150k" are you taking it? Answer is different for everyone and not a great metaphor but you get my meaning Speaking of, if anybody's company ships freight. Hit RGBIII up! We offer LTL, FTL, Reefer, Flatbed, hot shot and tradeshow services. Each new customer I get that uses promocode: TURBOFUCKEDPORTAL gets 10% off their first freight shipment!
  18. Thursday morning reset: RB - Raleek Brown is in. Retained James Simon. Rumors that Clark upped his ask and we are holding firm. Probably need a between-the-tackles guy to pair with Brown, ESPECIALLY if Clark bails. Not many names out publicly. WR - Waiting on Coleman. Supposedly we are not the highest $$ bidder. Most people fading Texas's chances at the moment. Also had contact with Tre Richardson from Vanderbilt. Georgia fans threw a tantrum when we got involved but nothing seems imminent. Smoke has started up regarding Kaliq Lockett and Daylan McCutcheon. TE - Got the Michigan State guy, lost Jordan Washington. No other smoke at this position, hopefully/probably done. OL - Jesus, who the fuck knows? Review the last 40 pages of this thread for more details. Michigan guys are out, Wisconsin guy is out. One $9.95er this morning implied that the guy from NC State might not be a "culture fit". There was a little talk in previous days that we're waiting on a guy still playing for Ole Miss, but...c'mon. I'm not aware of other names or visits right now. DL - Got Geffrard. Visits from Zion Williams from LSU and the Miami guy whose name I can't remember right now, who both seem like good options. DE - Missed out on Woods from Florida. Oklahoma State guy visiting today. LB - Missed out on the Wisconsin dude (did you hear he broke his arm in a game?) to tOSU. Cal guy is visiting. Some smoke that we are trying to retain Barnes. CB - Got Mascoe from Rutgers. Lost Kobe Black. Maybe done? S - Retained Derek Williams.
  19. Neighborhood libertarian blames the victim for being murdered by an agent of the state.
  20. You mean a guy like Parker Livingstone? How’d that work out?
  21. Big props to raleek. You need a guy with titanium nuts. This dude saw our 4 o linemen left on the roster and said. Yeah I want a fucking challenge. You can build a program around that attitude
  22. Did we finally successfully tamper a Michigan OL?
  23. BREAKING: Texas mascot “Bevo” plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, Pete Thamel reports. “Price of beef has gone up, my NIL check has NOT.” 👀
  24. Apparently the Wyoming guy turned out to measure 5'11", 265 pounds. They discovered he was suiting up and playing while wearing a fat suit to make him look more formidable.
  25. I went to Texas and currently have a working cow calf operation, and I did not have the help of NIL money to do so. Jordan Shipley went to Texas and was working on a ranch when his accident happened. The easiest way to get into the cattle business is to have money. He said he wanted to be a cattle rancher not a vet.
  26. Can we put Brandon Harris on leave before he talks to any more of our players.
  27. Won a Heisman with him on NCAA as my power back. I’m in.
  28. This is becoming about vastly more than merely the murder of an American citizen by the agents of the United States Government. Let’s pause for a second and reflect on the gravity of what I just typed. But beyond the murder of an American citizen at the hands of the agents of the United States Government, this is becoming a question of the ability of a sovereign state to enforce its own laws within its borders. The State of Minnesota is sovereign, and has the right as the sovereign to promulgate and enforce its own criminal laws. While the United States is the superior sovereign, it does not have the right to vitiate the sovereignty of the State of Minnesota. Unless it does. We’ve had this fight before. We might have to have it again. Minnesota is perfectly within its rights at this moment to detain every ICE agent for questioning in connection with the murder of one of its citizens. And given the federal government’s coverup, it might just have to take that action.
  29. I'm not sure what's worse at this point, Texas's portal performance of the shrieking coming from a number of posters on this thread. Fuck me. Imagine a world where folks are collectively pissing their pants over losing a spare TE, a bust at WR, guys coming back after agreeing to terms and saying "No thanks 4x that amount," a couple of WRs and a RB who put up mid #s and demanded max dollars, i'm some OL guys that were so fucking bad they couldn't see playing time last year in a an OL that was so bad it was like watching a live feed of clubbing baby seals every Saturday in the fall. Fucking pull yourselves together people. Yes, we're missing on top targets, but it isn't for lack of paying. Something tells me we're going to field a team in the fall, and something tells me this won't end up as bad as it feels right now. 4k players in the portal, at some point Texas is going to have time to evaluate and sign some motherfuckers better than the other 3700 who are going to get zero other than a college scholarship.
