  1. He has a passion for playing X box. We thought he would be interested in engineering based on how easy math and science have always been to him but he said no bueno to that. Now he is saying maybe business (not accounting) or computer sciences. My wife feels that if you are going to be in computer sciences you need to be doing coding and shit by his age but I don’t think that’s true. My nephew was kind of a f up (but a good kid) and he graduated from FSU with a computer science degree 4 years ago. He just turned down an offer from Amazon starting at $300K+ a year so he must be doing something right. The only Texas school my kid says he is interested in is UT Austin but he won’t get into business school I don’t think with few extracurriculars on his resume other than golf and I am sure as hell not sending him there to get a Liberal Arts degree like my parents were dumb enough to do with me. The History major didn’t help me much in life but I also turned out OK financially. Mentally not so much.
  2. Joel was an entrepreneur and a go getter at least. My kid, not so much.
  3. My son starts his Junior year of HS in a few months. The wife and I are trying to get him to think about colleges but he has no idea what he wants to do for a profession or what school he wants to go to. I am curious who will accept him as he has never not gotten an A in any subject (and he never studies) and most of his grades are 97 to a 100 in every AP/Honors course his school offers. He will easily be in the top 20 out of 400 students in his class at a 5A school. He hasn’t taken the SAT yet but I am sure he will get in the 1400+ range at a minimum. Here is the negative. He is lazy and won’t do any extracurricular activities, join any clubs, charitable work, nothing. Hell, he was too lazy to join National Honor Society because he didn’t want to do the volunteer stuff. He is on the varsity golf team and that is it. We have been telling him he needs to get that other stuff on his resume but my wife feels at this point its too late and he is screwed when it comes to college.
  4. For a Daytona? Never.
  5. I love watching the pros get tested in US Open conditions. It’s the best tournament by far for me. I also loved seeing Rahm’s shot in the bunker on 18 that hit the lip and came back down. Makes me feel better about my game because i do that like once every round.
  6. Seems like he played the game right. Doesn’t do shit yet still gets the throne.
  7. I took out a addendum on my homeowners policy. Problem is I can’t replace the watches based on what I insured them for and what the crazy prices are now for the same watches.
  8. His tweet below that stating Ginni Thomas is a great American is worse.
  9. Smoke show? You need to get out more.
  10. I switched to Fox and it was Tucker interviewing a guy about Biden’s war on menthol cigarettes. WTF
  11. A few more to add..... and what may be the best song off of one of the best albums ever made.
  12. It pains me when my kid puts ketchup on a hot dog and not any kind of mustard. I am a bad parent and feel shame for that. I do love an egg roll with Chinese hot mustard mixed with duck sauce.
  13. This is why I have all my money buried in coffee cans in my back yard.
  14. Just got back from a conference at the MGM this week. 4 days is too much Vegas for me especially in June when its 108 degrees. Hit Craft Steakhouse a few times at the MGM which was pretty good. The Wagyu skirt steak was pretty fantastic. Best part was the group I was with threw a 90's party with Ton Loc, Young MC, Rob Base and Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray). I enjoyed that which I guess shows how old I am.
  15. Bumping this as I will be in Vancouver for the first time next month for a full day and night after a cruise. I will be with a dozen of my wife's family so anybody got any can't miss places to eat for lunch/dinner while there? Not sure what we will do all day but if the weather is good guessing Stanley Park and Granby Island will make the list.
  16. Just to add a couple more great hooks/intros from the disco era starting with a great one from a porn star. Macho Man has the more disco sounding intro but this is more iconic. I had to add my favorite Donna Summer song even though the intro is slow and the real "disco" starts in the middle of the song.
  17. Great thread and definitely some "not disco" stuff on here but still great songs. I will echo the "Birdland" Jazz not being Disco at all and if you want the better version go to youtube and listen to Weather Report do the original with Jaco on bass. Also, a cool fact about Jive Talkin' by the Bee Gees was that opening riff is actually the sound/rhythm of a car when you drive over the bridge from Miami to Miami Beach and the tires go over the gaps in the cement. Barry Gibb heard that groove while driving and replicated it. I will now add a few disco songs with great opening hooks that I am surprised were missed.
  18. This right here. Fox News is currently talking about Biden’s late night performance the other night and how he is senile. Nothing about the hearing. Says it all really.
  19. I am ready for this part of the hearing. and if we had the technology I am all for this happening to Trump and lackeys.
  20. One of my favorite scenes.
  21. Frasier for longevity but there were a bunch of successful spinoffs back in the 70s and 80s. The Jeffersons, Good Times, Maude all came from All in the Family. Benson came from Soap, Laverne and Shirley plus Mork and Mindy from Happy Days, Facts of Life was from Different Strokes I think. As far as Cheers it was just a great show for so long and with different casts which you rarely see. The Diane/Coach years and the Rebecca/Woody years are both great yet different.
  22. How about if all the attendees magically got Monkey pox. That would be ok wouldn’t it? You know, in a karma kind of way.
  23. The rosemary old fashioned at the Fairmont in Banff is quite tasty.
  24. He is a troll, and not even a good one. What is interesting is that after a horrific tragedy where 21 people were killed including 19 elementary school children, markstanco feels what is most important is to go on a Longhorn message board and argue about the wonders of gun ownership. It’s not that he is right or wrong on his views on gun laws (he is wrong) but that he chooses to argue it at this time is all you need to know that he is a piece of shit. I guess I get to use the ignore button again on this site. Not because I disagree with him but because he brings nothing worthwhile to this discussion or to this world in general.
