    London

I hear ya; however, I created a spreadsheet that compares a la carte admissions vs. a 3 or 4 day pass and it’s pretty even. Mostly due to the London Pass being offered at a discounted price until June 30. Supposedly, the London Pass can also be used to skip lines for some venues.

Anyone use the London Pass or Explorer Pass during their visit? Any issues with either? We have four full days to explore London (not including a day reserved for trip to Stonehenge and Windsor Castle) with two days that are more structured and two days that are more open. I’ve drafted an itinerary for us (4 adults/4 kids, 11-16) to see some of the main sites (e.g., Tower of London, Churchill War Rooms, Westminster Abbey), as well as places to eat and a few “hidden gems” by general neighborhood. I’m still playing around with the itinerary and would welcome “must-sees” to consider. Our evenings are mostly free at the moment as we’ll check out our neighborhood for dinner spots. We may see a performance of King Lear one night. After dinner, my wife, her sister, and I will check out local pubs and some bars/clubs I’m interested in checking out (e.g., Trisha’s, Discount Suit Company).
  3. Mine, as well. When I was in middle school back in the 80s, my best friend’s family had a laserdisc player and we’d watch The Kids Are Alright every weekend. That and Airplane. /csb My brother’s best friend is the drummer mentioned in this article about jamming with Daltrey at a rock ‘n roll fantasy camp: https://nypost.com/2011/01/22/daltrey-thats-who/
  4. They’re doing amazing things with technology these days. Maybe modify human DNA so that one fetus arm develops into a gun? Gotta think outside the box.
  5. Congrats. Which part of the Bay Area? There is an alumni group: https://www.texasexes.org/chapters-and-networks/find-chapter-or-network/73/san-francisco-bay-area

We like the flexibility of going with a private tour for this part of our trip. Getting picked up and dropped off at our VRBO is a huge selling point as it will be a long day with visiting multiple sites.

How did you get to Stonehenge, public transportation or private tour? We’ll be in London next month (8 people, including my 78-year old MIL) and I’m trying to plan our trip to Stonehenge. We’re leaning toward a private tour as we won’t have to worry about transfers and will have the flexibility to see other sites.

Currently watching season 4. Prop Joe’s use of fake names and voices when calling to get info on Herc was greatness.

    No doubt
  12. A buddy of mine, who was born and raised in SF, was there and said the crowd was very SF blah and that they need the Oakland crowd on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Oakland crowd will be watching the game on TV. I’ll be at game 2 wearing my Celtics shit.
  13. Sunday at BottleRock was more relaxed. We arrived later in the day and saw Michael Franti. He put on the most positive show I’ve ever attended. During one of the songs, he jumped off the stage and made his way around the crowd. After Franti, we just ate and roamed around before Pink went on. She is very entertaining live. My wife’s phone has the video and pictures of her flying above the crowd.
  14. Saturday at BottleRock was Greensky Bluegrass, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Black Crowes, and Mount Westmore.
  15. BottleRock was great this year. Met a lot of cool people in town from TX; however, nobody from Surly. On Friday, we posted up early at the fence between the VIP and Platinum sections to guarantee being up close for Metallica. Luckily, all the bands we wanted to see (Fantastic Negrito, Spoon, Greta Van Fleet, Metallica) played at the same stage. I was really impressed by Marcus King and probably would have missed him if it weren’t for the artists before and after him. Hope to see him perform live again. We were checking out Bastardane early in the day (1pm) and Hetlfield was there (his son is the band’s drummer).

    The Wire

This thread inspired me to get HBOMAX just so I can re-watch The Wire and other series. “Sometimes things gotta play hard.”
  20. Which wineries y’all hitting?
  21. BottleRock does a great job of providing up close viewing for each wristband level. GA does require more walking between the two main stages if you want to get up close. And beer stands are everywhere (rarely a line). I’ll be wearing Celtics gear tomorrow (hoping they close it out). I’ve got my wife and her sister committed to arriving in Napa by 11 (driving in from Davis) so I can see Kosha Dillz at 12. Looking forward to possibly meeting up with some fellow Longhorn fans tomorrow in you and @Buzzrock; and seeing some kick-ass acts. I should probably stop drinking now. Well, maybe one more.
  22. You’re on a roll today
  23. That makes sense. Howard said HHM used a detective agency. Not sure how common that is or how large one would be. Especially in ALBQ.
  24. Would the lead partner at a large firm work regularly with a specific PI or would it be someone lower?
  25. I’m on the third straight day of pre-dawn meetings with a hard drinking night mixed in before day two.
