  1. Wife (looking at a Bob Melvin Manager of the Year commemorative pin): That’s not very impressive. Me: Why do you say that? Wife: A team only has one manager. Me: There’s more than one team. Wife (light turning on): Don’t say anything
  2. OJ and Trump. New crime-solving duo. Thursdays on Fox.
  3. ^^^^ You don’t want/need a car if you’re exploring the city. If you like seafood, check out swan oyster depot. If the line is too long, order your food to go and eat at one of the nearby bars.
  4. You can pick up BART in the airport. May need to do a bit of navigation to get there (e.g., need to take a tram to get to actual BART station). You will most likely have to wait 15 minutes for a train. You will make every stop between the airport and downtown (no express BART). You won’t have to walk too far from the downtown station (Powell) to the hotel (two city blocks). It may be a PITA, though. I’ve lived in SF/Oakland for 16 years and have only used BART 2-3 times to get to/from the airport. I’d go with Uber/Lyft. Fewer hassles and you will most likely get to your hotel faster.
  5. My wife is laughing at me because I’m watching the game like it’s live action
  6. If you need to watch something to take your mind off the events of today. 4:58 left in the 3rd.
  7. If you’re intent on staying on Oahu, check out Kailua. Watching the sunrise while sitting on Lanikai Beach followed by coffee and a breakfast sandwich at Kalapawai Market is my typical morning routine when I’m visiting my sister. There is very cool hike to some WWII-era pillboxes with great views of the sunrise and The Mokes. Get there early and go to the last pillbox to avoid the crowds. Hawaiian BBQ at Oneawa Market. Drinks at Creekside.
  8. Torch Club is a great cocktail bar and blues club

  10. Glad the US (specifically Rapinoe) scored. Spoiler that shit. Some of us aren't watching live.
  11. There's one store in Incline Village. Have not been to it, though.
  12. We were in North Lake Tahoe last weekend for my son's lacrosse tournament and the weather was perfect. Oh, if you ski or board, Squaw Valley has trails open until July 7.
  13. The Hyatt Regency in Incline Village has a casino and sportsbook Kings Beach is nearby and has a lot of water activities Downtown Truckee is worth a visit https://www.truckeeriverrafting.com/ if the water is not too high Dinner/drink cruise on Lake Tahoe
  14. We're going on an Alaska cruise next month with my wife's mother and sister (plus her kids and boyfriend). My wife will get quality time with her mom and sister, our kids will have a blast with their cousins, and I'll be stuck with the Trump-supporting, QAnon conspiracy theorist boyfriend.
  15. August: Weird Al September: Bob Seger October: The Who
  16. Three great movies are on TMC tomorrow: The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far, and Battleground.
  17. We're planning on being there for the 76th anniversary. Already told my 11-year old son and 8-year old daughter we'll be on the beach before 6:30 AM.
  18. My kids and I took a moment at H-Hour to remember the brave souls who risked and gave their lives for the freedom of the world
  19. Thanks for all the feedback. We're definitely adding a day/night for Mont Saint-Michel. After that, we have a travel day + 3 full days before flying back. My parents are >70 and my mother needs frequent stops when in a car, which is why I was looking at travel via train. This is likely the last chance my parents have to visit Europe so I want to maximize what they see vs. quality time with family. A train ride across France and Germany with my Dad would not be a bad thing. Especially with a bar car. My kids, wife, and Mom will have Wi-Fi, so they'll be set.
  20. My wife and I (plus kids, ages 9 and 12 next year) are planning on taking my parents to France next year (except to Canada and Mexico, they've never been outside the US). Right now, we're planning on 3-4 full days in Paris before heading to Bayeux to tour the D-Day sites for 2-3 days. The question is where to go next? Going back to Paris would allow us to not rush the first part of the trip; however, I'd love to visit Munich (1 day train ride). We could also go to London and visit one of our nieces. Any advice is appreciated.
  21. My wife and I were at the new Lotus of Siam location a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have a reservation; however, there was seating available in the bar area.
