  1. The unnecessary cameo kills my theory that Jack represents the mythical Max figure in a story told years later by an unreliable narrator. He had the leather jacket missing one sleeve with a shoulder pad, the shotgun pistol, etc.
  2. Just saw Warpaint at Mohawk. Their drummer is really good. She overwhelmed the rest of the band a bit but I dunno how you contain a drummer on stage. Which one of you was the 50-something hitting on the 19 year olds? They were really impressed with you tales of Sonic Youth at Liberty Lunch. Those kids are friends of my daughter so we had a good laugh when they told us about it.
  3. Dunno where else to put this but it sums up voters well.
  4. Discada mix from the Mexican supermarket on 183.
  5. O’Brien pronounces “organ” as “Oregon”. During the Black Crowes story that’s all I could focus on since he said it like 30 times.
  6. Just left the theater. It was awesome. Is it as good or groundbreaking like Fury Road? Absolutely not. Is it better than 99% of action films? Yep. Miller wisely doesn’t try to remake Fury Road. This is its own thing and is paced more traditionally and is broken into chapters. It’s probably more violent and definitely more gruesome than Fury Road. How she loses her arm is pretty horrific. Anya Taylor Joy doesn’t show up until an hour into the movie and doesn’t say a word for another 45 minutes. She has maybe 200 words of dialog and 150 of them are in the final scene. She’s great and so is the young Furiosa. This is Hemsworth’s best role so far.
  7. rich or not, you don't see many 300 pound 70 year olds for a reason. He's already exceeded the lifespan for fat asses.
  8. He’s got hospital bills to pay plus that stripper girlfriend can’t be cheap to support.
  9. Dang, I love Juliana Hatfield but can't stand Soul Asylum.
  10. The trailer was oddly off-putting. It looked like it was filmed for TV and the tone of the trailer wasn’t the same as the movie. I don’t know who signed off on that trailer cut but they’re largely responsible for the poor performance.
  11. Mohawk is my favorite venue. Yeah, the set up is weird but it used to be a goddamn Mexican restaurant. It’s amazing what they’ve built from some shitty bones. I don’t know of any venue has had as many killer shows as it has.

The future Surly law dog who ran on the field tonight.
  13. The school will probably use AISD’s recapture money to pay off the lawsuit.
  14. When the subtitles popped up “Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue is playing” I was WTF.
  15. I really dislike that Jedis were made to be more common than janitors in the SW universe.
  16. Just watched S1E1 and the recap in front of it is woefully insufficient. I think watching the S1 finale would help since it picks up right where it left off.
  17. Just picked up tickets for Kishi Bashi at Mohawk in September. If you haven't heard of this dude, check him out.
  18. I've been listening since the late 90s when that first DJ Kicks compilation came out. Absolutely love everything they put out. I've seen them live maybe 20 times. However, it's hard to get over to Emo's. I wish they'd start playing Stubb's again.
  19. I'll watch. My one nitpick is that you'd think with a 10,000 year gap there would be different technology and fashion.
  20. There is a lot of fog but it's not like you can't see anything.
