I got artist pricing on my Matchless and could still sell it at a straight profit. Maybe you know someone who can hook you up with a deal at the Gibson custom shop 😎

I lived across from the guy when he was building that company. Never knew it would be what it is today. Nice enough guy. He’s dead now.

Need back story. Lots of chatter about Nicole killing people. Feel left out on the open secret.

Also, the Firefly Firebird is down to $199. Tempted, but I don't need another guitar.

I bought a few of those Firefly guitars and thought they were all crap. Their fans rave about them and maybe I just got a bunch of duds but I thought they were bad. I’m still hanging on to a semi hollow tele-style model with P90s because I think it looks cool and may make it into a slide guitar, but even after swapping the strings they bend about as well as rebar, the tuning pegs require two hands to get them to move, and the action and setup are pretty bad.

Firefly seems to me to be the epitome of "you get what you pay for."  Disclaimer:  I have not owned one.  But I have seen this game played before...Teisco, Greco, Kay, Harmony, Hondo, etc.  "Hey it looks just like the real thing!! Uh oh, plays like shit and hurts my fingers while it also fails to stay in tune."  Even for $100, that ain't worth it.

I think there are some pretty good options out there for less than $500. There are YouTube channels that do a lot of those reviews: Spectre Sound Studios, Guitar Max, Darrell Braun, etc so there is no shortage of info about them. But Firefly goes the ultra cheap route and all the ones I got just played like shit despite trying to set them up better. Here are the other ones I went through.

Up until the photo, when y'all said "Firefly," I thought you meant Parker Fly.

Not quite. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they made a knockoff model. They are prolific with all the different models that they make, and lots of them sell out.

Gentlemen, I do declare that I have found myself a keeper, which now is in hand.  And much like the article posted above about the color, "limed mahogany" would definitely fit, even though it photographs "[TV] Yellow."  I really like it, and the grain pattern really shows through the finish well.  Plays like . . . well, a Les Paul, albeit with a little more efforts on the bends versus a tune-a-matic bridge.

Darrel Braun claims the Firefly he got to make a video was pretty decent.

Mine was a “Classic” and not an “Elite” so maybe the latter is better. I really wanted to like mine, and even took it for a setup, but I just never liked how it played.

I made up a bs company to get my dad and I into SEMA once when he wanted to go in like 08. They called me and asked about it and I just straight lied and they said ok. No issues at all.

Might work for NAMM.

My incredibly niche comedy script idea is a Friendship style movie where Buzzrock, believing his Sweetwater rep to be a true friend, reaches out to get the NAMM hookup and then heads to Indiana. Then you have an odd couple buddy road comedy planes trains thing and they find the true meaning of friendship and also derail Henry Juskiewicz’ plan to take down the industry he believes wronged him using blood rosewood.

Amazing they are still open.  They had been for sale.

It’s been a couple years since I’ve been in Rockin’ Robin but it’s a mess.  Some good stuff tucked in amongst what is mostly a personal collection/museum.

Video is kinda boring and this Aussie’s forced laugh very couple of minutes get annoying, but hey, it’s gear.  I’m always gonna look at gear, even overpriced used gear.

I would like to own a Robin.  There is some nostalgia for me with one of their Strat style models.

Disappointed they didn’t show the rocket launcher in the acoustic room.

I definitely bought some gear from them over the years, but I always felt like I was getting ripped off a little.  Last thing I bought was my 1973 Deluxe Reverb.  I had a 1991 Les Paul HOF Deluxe (all gold).  It had what I thought might be a crack in the neck near the headstock.  I bought it used from GC for a very good price.  Anyway, that Deluxe Reverb spoke to me and I was getting nervous about that crack migrating on the LP.  So I offered it up, and they jumped on it, trading it straight across.  I know they thought they were jobbing me (and they probably did a little bit, but I wanted to unload it and we made a deal.  They had that LP upon their website the next day for over $3K (I'd only paid $1k for it).  Who knows?  Maybe it was a finish crack?  I'd already had it looked at and the jury still was out on that in the "It's impossible to tell without sanding down the finish for a look).  But that was the last time I ever dealt with them.  But I still have that Deluxe Reverb, and it's still the best sounding amp I own.  I also got another Les Paul (2014 Traditional), and even though it's not a custom shop guitar (let alone one of the first C/S guitars), it's a far better instrument than that HOF guitar was.
