I guess I'm in the minority, because I'm enjoying it so far.  The gameplay seems much smoother, and the defense is way better than last year's.  I've allowed 7, 17, and 10 against middling teams (TCU, UCLA, and Arky), which seems pretty reasonable.  I'm able to break up passes again, and guys in a zone don't just stand there until someone runs all the way up to them.

Now, those three games are all Play Now against the AI.  I really hope the note above about Dynasty mode being all fucked up by year 3 gets fixed, or that will kill my interest in this game pretty quickly.

But so far, yeah, the base gameplay seems significantly improved.

I'm also loving it through my one season of offline dynasty so far. I haven't played a game on the new patch but the game is so much deeper than last year's.

I'll withhold full judgement until I do dynasty with a new coach at a small school and RTG with a 7'0" 400lb RB.

You can cap how many guys from teams enter the portal.

In NCAA Football 26, you can cap the number of players transferring from a team by adjusting the "Max Transfers Per Team" setting in the dynasty or team builder options. This setting allows you to limit the number of players who can transfer from a single team, with options ranging from 0 to 30.

Offline it’s fun so far, though if this game is any indication, our OL is going to be rough this year.

Good thing our QB is gonna run for 1k and throw laterally and quickly over the middle so much that people will be terrified to blitz us.

I refuse to let any negativity into my mind about the next two years.  We're gonna run it.

Also, I think it was The Sporting News that had our O line at like #8, so we might be okay in spite of the losses?

Having Goosby rated 82 when he’s considered a top 100 player in CFB by 247 and a possible early draft entrant seems off. Baker being a 79, a 5 star OT in his 2nd year with no real playing time, is a bit of a pessimistic rating for him. Goosby being around 86-87 and Baker being around 82 would change this, which may be closer to reality this year.

Ratings can and will be updated throughout the season.

I'm looking forward to watching Baxter's 87 become a 94.

Man, the OL is so average in this one. I played Clemson the other day and they got worked. I’m pretty sure it was on Varsity too.

They will unlikely bother with linemen

The AI is so bad I don’t know if the line can even be fixed with higher ratings.

Anyone else play on PS5 and get random crashes every now and then? I haven't found a solution anywhere.

Had my first issue with the game last night. Was play TT on Heisman and lost the ability to call a timeout. Button didn’t work and couldn’t find it on the pause menu any more.

sitting at 1-4 in upperclassmen in RTCFP :(

lost a last second game against a top 1000 player by throwing a pick in the endzone to win it last play of the game.

I think i just need to go to practice mode and run about 15 different pass plays over and over and over until I have them down.

Playbook sucks, there's 60 different shotgun sets with Texas and they are hard to get into the normal ones that aren't stupid screens and bubbles and gadget plays only.

Then in away games, if you don't have the receivers and routes memorized you are just fucked.

RTG has a stupid bug where you cannot allocate health points so your player gradually gets unable to play more than like one play a game. Super annoying

just turn off injuries?

i started playing ncaa 25 again, and i’ve been quickly reintroduced to the charming bug where i’ve got 3-4 blockers in front of me on a punt return while the ball is in the air, only for all four of them to ignore the lone gunner who runs right past them and blows me the fuck up as soon as i catch the punt. they still doing that stupid shit on 26?

Punt return is blocked a little better but haven't been able to house one yet. I only play online so I don't know if they nerf the special teams there or what. I did take 1 kickoff return back but usually end up between 18-22 yard line and it's not worth it to try and return those.

Backspin and short punts are totally insane if you can get a punt where they have trouble fielding it it's very likely to hit one of their players first. Cheap as fuck though.

joining a 3 star league and my choices are Stanford, Maryland, and Virginia. Which would you pick for better recruiting? I think the conferences are all rearranged so ignore any conference comparison.

Stanford should have the easiest path to elite recruiting due to program grades and pipeline access.

Anybody know how to call a fair catch? Or have a link that explains all of the buttons in each phase? The “controls” area on the game are fine but deliver zero nuance and they don’t even show special teams instructions.

Y or Triangle when ball is in the air.

Took me a while to figure this as well. On PS5 make sure to press O after the kick to select the returner…then press the triangle button right after. The problem is the game doesn’t notify you if you were successful or not, sometimes it says “fair catch” or waves hand, but a lot of times does not. I played the Beta for 26 and gave them this feedback…in addition to removing the all state logo from the field goal net…no way most teams would sell that space and it looks goofy.

Well finally beat a top 1000 player online and he was playing with LSU. Damn that was tough.

Then I go look at the stats… some of the fucking guys in the top 100 are under 50% wins… you just get points for playing an absolute shit ton of games. These guys have played 600 games already, that’s like 8-9 hours a day even with quitters… wtf

calling a halfback screen is just a coin flip between no gain and -9 yards. used to be one of my favorite plays, but they must have “patched” the game at some point, because i legitimately have not even gotten off a single pass on an hb screen and im in game 11.

Man, I have different results. I'd say no less than +5 yards every time I use it. One of my "go to" plays.

they key, at least for 25, was that you had to be controlling the guy that is catching it.

I always controlled them anyway.

I probably either get hit or throw incomplete 75% of the time I call a screen.

I love the game so far. I think it is way better than 25. The gameplay is smooth and the player animations are pretty sick. I love the different "identities" (whatever they are called I cant remember) each player can have. A "Gadget" guy can play QB/CB/etc. if needed. Stuff like that is really cool. I also love the addition of some small but big things like an actual list of National Championship winners, award winners, etc. The transfer portal while tough, is actually fairly realistic. Dudes leave no matter what, but, it usually is pretty easy to get new guys in. I lost 15 guys one year, brought in about 12 from the portal. Takes some getting used to. I also think the stats are better. To be fair, I almost NEVER play online. I am an old school dude who plays a dynasty by myself. I skip a LOT of games just to do it. The stats just look better than last year's game. More realistic IMO.

Not to be Mr. Johnny Sunshine, some of the things I still hate: a lot of black kickers. White CBs. The faces/hairstyles on some of the guys are HORRIBLE. That is small, but it bothers me. At least let us change it. Recruting it harder, which I kinda like. Keeps me on my toes. I still haven't figured out the best way to do it, but I do know that if you go heavy after guys late who haven't signed, they most likely will sign with you.

again, I am sure there will be more updates, but I really like it so far.

Hmm. Could be the level I am playing on. I am not on the highest, I guess second highest? All American? I wouldn't say I am 100% on screens, but it definitely is one of my fave plays. Seems like this year the Jet Sweep is broken. I can't do shit with that play anymore.

My only real complaints about the game are A) the AI positioning in zone defense is horrendous overall, whether during pass coverage, when there's a mobile QB, etc....and B) that the fucking AI runs into the kicker way too often on like extra points and shit.

I think the gameplay is pretty fucking great. Some issues with run blocking and faulty animations, but overall, not a ton of complaints.

Here are the issues that I'm having in offline dynasty. Most of these issues were not present in the games from 02-14, so no idea why they can't figure this out:

- Imbalance home/away schedules. 5 straight home games to start the season? Followed by 7 straight away games? No thanks.

-Rankings. My team is 7-0 with wins over multiple top 15 teams, but I'm ranked #18 with multiple 3-4 loss teams ranked ahead of me. Including 2 teams that I've defeated.

-Dealbreakers. Ramped up way to high. Everyone wants to transfer. Even starters who have "playing time" as their dealbreaker. Lower ranked teams are having 20 transfers every year, and with their poor recruiting classes, are having to fill with walk-ons in later seasons.

you on 26? i’m still on 25. literally have not even gotten a pass off to the rb, i either get sacked or hit as i throw every single time. zero blocking.
