Crazy he was only 40 when The Mary Tyler Moore Show came on the air. He looked a lot older than that. Somewhat shocked he was only 91.

What's crazy is that a 91 year-old man was not old enough to have served in WWII.

FFS, I can remember a 90 year-old I knew as a kid who served in WWI.  Little did I know I'd wind up on a sports forum that he also posts on, making jokes about his age.

91 is a good run.  RIP.

Yep. What’s weird is that when I was a kid watching the MTM show he first struck me as tough and it took me a while to figure out that Lou Grant was actually a softy. I remember watching the Lou Grant show but don’t remember much about it. I’ve seen him in a lot of different things. He’s always solid. I remember thinking the premise for Up was stupid and I wasn’t interested. Then I watched it at my sister’s place over the holidays. That was brilliant.

RIP, Ed. It's a Long Way to Tipperary.

The man was talented. He flipped Lou Grant from a small market, wisecracking, not so bright TV news boss to a savvy, hard core, major market newspaper editor and never missed a beat. Loved him in The Boondocks.

Never seen The Mary Tyler Moore show, but I've had it in my queue on Hulu forever waiting to watch it.  One of the classics I've never seen I've been meaning to get around to.  I think I'll finally pull the trigger and start watching it.
