I really can't believe our defense played 97 snaps and didn't give up. That Golden catch and Mukuba INT are one of the most impressive plays I've seen in a long, long time. Two transfers bailed us out. That's how you work the portal.

It's criminal our offense couldn't do anything for most of the game and allowed our defense out there to dry.  The defense saved Sark's dogshit plan.

Go back and watch the game. They were out there for 6 mins. We scored in two plays. They go three and out. We score on a punt return. They go three and out. We go three and out. They run 5 mins off the clock. Then we run 6 mins off the clock. At this point in time the defense should be okay. ASU then goes for it on 4th down and we stop them. 4 mins off the clock. We can't move the ball again. They can't move the ball again either. Then the special teams thing happens and imo that was the straw. Outside of the 1st drive we were kinda matching them. Then the 3rd quarter is where it got ugly. I wanna say we ran 4 plays all 3rd quarter. Just a perfect storm of stupidity and ineptitude.

Irony of this post is the offense started clicking when Sark spread ASU out and abandoned the run.

Some Will Howard sucks stats.  He’s faced 7 top 20 DFEI defenses.  The Horns 3.

There has been some here to question his accuracy.  Clearly great pass catchers impact that so not sure how you measure that.  In any event, at every depth his adjusted completion percentage his higher than Ewers.  He’s #1 at the deep ball.

A better offense suited to throwing.  One with more talent too.

He had easily been the best QB in the playoffs. I still don’t trust him, but you have to give him credit

Last 4 games for Texas according to Babers. 90% completion rate, 30% explosive play rate, and 13 yards per completion out of empty formation.

What is even more ironic is we would have beat them by 30+ if we run the ball. Wait, is that ironic?

This is why Herman got fired and OSU lost to Michigan this year. You can smash your head into a wall or you can press your advantage.

ASU defense isn't Michigan or OSU or Georgia. We should never have been in that position. There is no excuse for not being able to run the ball on an overmatched, undersized defense.

7 yards was our longest run against ASU. For a hundred pages we have read that Quinn can't throw the ball worth a shit now we should have abandoned the run sooner. WTF is going on in here. It isn't about abandoning the run, it is executing it. We lost 2 games and almost lost another because we couldn't run the football. I do agree that Sark should have went to the quick, short passing game earlier, dumping down to backs because that OZ was a net negative. We were behind the chains all night.

It is what it is. ASU had a better game plan than Texas. Couple guys had a bad game. You can try to fight it or press your advantage. There is no argument the offense moved the ball better when they spread ASU and picked on their secondary..

20 min to 10 min or very close to it, yes. It continues lopsided into a good deal of the 3rd.

Anyone that has anything negative to say about the D vs ASU should be negged.

This is all nonsense. Most people understand who Quinn is. He is very good in clean pockets when he knows where to go with the ball. It’s when the environment is gets muddy, he degrades fast. Nobody thinks Quinn cannot throw a football. He would be my 1st pick of college QBs for a 7 on 7 team.

7 yards thing is an issue. I said it earlier J Brooks has been missed. That is the biggest difference in the run game. RB is Texas’s least talented position. They do struggle to maximize runs. When Texas gets good blocking too many times it is 7-12 yards.

This the game plan offensively was extremely bad and ASU's was very good. A very young coach nearly took Sark to the woodshed.

I know every team at this part of the season can engage in this exercise to some extent, but just think of how much more consistent and efficient this offense would have been with a healthy Baxter and Bond all year. I think if we had Cam Williams for the ASU game it would have helped our run game enough to stave off the late comeback.

College football has always been a war of attrition, but now that it takes 17 games to win a national championship, consistently great recruiting to build depth is more important than ever. We’ve just stacked four straight top-5 classes, so we are well-positioned to keep competing at the highest level going forward.

You think DJ Cambell not being able to move a 240 lb prince Dorbah off his spot has anything to do with game plan? These are the things I saw in the game. He has that dude by a hundred pounds and got completely stonewalled in OT. That should have been a 6-7 yard gain at minimum that we lost yards on eventually leading to 4th and 13. I agree, Quinn is better when we spread people out and let Quinn sling it. He is comfortable doing that. It wasn't ASUs game plan that stoned our run game as much as just getting whipped at the point of attack. That is the embarrassing part. Sark waited until the last moment to just abandon the run. It worked. Exhilarating game that resembled a roller coaster.

I think its funny that people who have come in here to ridicule Quinn Ewers are now calling for the offense to move to a spread offense throwing the ball all over the yard. Sounds like the complaining should have been focused on something other than Quinn to begin with.

That is so frustrating. I realize we give up some push and physicality with Majors and Conner in exchange for experience and cohesion, but Campbell should be a friggin’ road grader at his size and in his third year.

Not sure DJ matched up Dorbah every often, unless Dorbah moved inside. I’ll take your word that it happened in the game. I didn’t call for Texas to move to a spread passing offense for the season. I was commenting on this game. Asking a QB to throw when the opposing team cannot get any pressure and their DBs are struggling to stay within 5 yards is a good thing. Now that probably won’t work with OSU, because they can rush the QB. Everything is opponent specific

You can try to play based on how you think things will go or you can adjust to how things are actually going. ASU played their asses off upfront and had us scouted extremely well.

Goosby played poorly, Campbell played below average, Majors got beat or stalemated more often than normal.

ASU was aggressive and we really didn't have a ton of opportunities to adjust. It was a hell of a job by Sark and the team to get up early and rally late despite all of the headwinds.

I wonder if Majors is still dealing with an injury. Probably not a coincidence that he left the Clemson game injured and looked off in the next game.

Yes, but that was driven almost entirely by special teams robbing us of 3 offensive possession (2 in a bad way 1 in the best way).

It happens in many ways. A ST or defensive touchdown and penalties that extend opponent's drives.

This game went off schedule very early. A part of that was our own decision to go for a punt block after the first drive.

It’s still absolutely mind boggling we didn’t get the block on that play.

I think these guys were just out leveraging us with their smaller size and speed.

It happens. I don't think it'll be the same story against OSU, but we can't always rely on deception for blocking schemes to work.

Mo Blackwell, for all of his athleticism and toughness, hasn't ever been the most heads-up player. He should have been hyper focused on the punter's foot at that point.

Hell, he was there so early if he’d have tried I think he could have tackled him before he got the punt off.

Can someone give me a good reason for Helm not being involved until late in the game? I have a hard time believing Sark can't scheme plays for him.  Felt like this happened in 2nd UGA game as well.

It is absolutely scheme here. Our run scheme is heavily dependent on our line getting to their spots before the defense. If the defense gets there first, it blows up all the timing. We should be able to adjust to that and punish it. But for whatever reason we cannot.

Disagree to some degree, a 330# Offensive linemen should be able to displace a 240# defensive end to make a hole for the RB. That was the design of that particular play. I keep hearing how tough DJ is. He should be able to lean on that guy and move him.

Maybe 74 was supposed to double team him before moving on so that Cambell could seal to the inside but it doesn't appear that way. Even the announcers were talking about how this played out.  Our offensive line couldn't even hold the point of attack, they were getting pushed around by much smaller guys.

He used him as a blocker against UGA2. Strange, I know, certainly isn't his strength.

You have to start from the beginning to get an idea of what happened. Dorbah is an Edge. I am guessing he shot the gap on a stunt and beat Campbell to the spot (purely a guess). Possible Goosby whiffed on him, instead of getting an arm on him to help Campbell. Campbell is beat by speed as his shoulders are parallel to the sideline. All he can do is push him laterally, he can not stop him from getting up field. This is about leverage and positioning, not strength and toughness

Yep.

The guys are perpendicular to each other. This is a speed/positioning issue, not straight up getting pushed around. You can outweigh me by 100lbs but it doesn't matter much if our paths are damn near 90 degrees apart and I'm getting through the intersection ahead of you.

I took the screenshots from the video, he didn't shoot a gap, he was for some reason completely unable to move him. If the video was on YouTube I could make a clip of it. I have no idea how to make o clip from where this video originated. If you watch the video this has nothing to do with speed. Dorbah just puts his right shoulder into Campbell and stoned him on the spot.

It wasn't speed, I will try to find and make a clip. He put his shoulder into Campbell, stopped him and moved upfield. He set the edge like a strong side DE should. Problem is he shouldn't be physically capable of doing that against Campbell. Below is a screenshot earlier in the play for reference. 74 did get his hands on him and he wasn't shooting a gap or perpendicular to Campbell, he just beat him.

So Dorbah did shoot the gap and went under Goosby.
